In Lewis Carroll’s fiction novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Alice has went through numerous changes, including her surroundings, size, and the people around her which has influenced most of the decisions that she had chosen to make. While Alice had her ups and downs while experiencing the changes handed to her in this mysterious place, she took some time to adapt to her new ways of living. Not all of these changes were good, and not all of them were bad, because a lot of these changes forced Alice to mature in several ways. There were many differences that Alice had experienced once she left her home and entered the world of Wonderland. Due to Alice not knowing how to be more rational when dealing with adults and the way they handle things had caused several disagreements and struggles. Her ability to deal with adults who frustrate her lacked extremely until later on in the novel. One example of Alice’s struggle when dealing with adults was when she had came in contact with the Queen, whose most common saying was, “off with his/her head” (65-66). Alice did not believe this was the solution to dealing with problems and began sticking up for the gardeners by throwing them in a large flower-pot, which the Queen and King would have not agreed with. Alice had many encounters with different creatures that had this type of outcome. As time went on Alice had realized that she wanted to fit in, so she started adapting to the situations and making sure her actions were in the best interest for others. Alice has shown numerous examples of being polite later on in Carroll’s, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. An example in which this proves to be correct, is when Alice says to the Mock Turtle, “Thank you, it’s a very interesting dance to watch”. (84). Alice did not enjoy watching this dance or receiving the thimble earlier on in this novel, but to fit in and try and understand the world in adult terms, she had chosen to handle situations in a kindly
