Has America strayed from the “American Idea”? What is the American Idea? According to Theodore H. White it is the planning of many rights and responsibilities for America. America has many breathtaking views and ideas which have come into play. Many Americans have disgraced the meaning of Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness. America has strayed from the American Idea for we have changed as a whole and it seems we can not stand up and unite as a whole. The Declaration of Independence is a document written by Thomas Jefferson which has all of the American ideals, rights, and responsibilities of American citizens. Having such a document means we have learned to abide most rules and can connect with other countries through what we need.
