“The Restaurant at the End of the Universe By Douglas Adams” Book Report
Plot Summary: Being a direct sequel to The Hitchhikers guide the the galaxy, this novel opens up directly where the last left off. It provides insight into the important parts of the last novel such as how some people in the universe built a supercomputer that came up with the answer to the question of life. (42) The earth was built to be a computer to find the question of the universe, but was destroyed to make way for an intergalactic highway bypass. Arthur Dent, and Tricia McMillian (called trillian) were the only survivors. They are aboard a ship powered by improbability called the Heart of Gold, and are heading towards the closest place to eat. While everyone else was asleep, Arthur, being a tea-craving british man, asked the computer for a cup of tea. ( a very difficult task, considering that the Earth and all things used to make tea were destroyed) Arthur’s request jammed the computer and it was unusable when they were attacked. The Vogons who had destroyed earth were determined to finish their job and kill the

The rest of the book is from Arthur and Fords perspectives. They learn that the ship they are on composes of the worst third of a society. This society decided to find a new planet but bunched their people in three groups, the worst of which were sent off in a different direction. The ship crash lands on a planet resembling earth (as it was intended to). Arthur and Ford discover a lot of things. They meet the man in charge of the universe who doesn’t care about it and lives in a shack with a cat. They realize that the planet is Earth and the original population of the planet knows the question and answer to life, but they are killed off by the bad population of people who crash landed onto it. They do not however find out the question of life, the universe, and
The worst essay from this semester is Magical Dinners by Chang-rae Lee. Why even have this atrocity on the syllabus? Magical Dinners is very blandly written (almost as bland as the food his family makes). This was made obvious by the fact that nobody in our class was into it and there was silence during the whole discussion instead of lots of participation. Furthermore, the only rhetoric I could find Lee even attempting to use was code grooming, which was highly unsuccessful because the meals that his mom made did not sound good and were unable to grab my attention or appetite. This is illustrated when Lee writes “She cooks an egg for me each morning without fail. I might also have with it fried Spam or cereal or a slice of American cheese,
What can you predict about the story from the back and front cover of the book?
Today what is known as In-N-Out Burger was first founded by Harry Snyder and his wife Esther Snyder in 1948. The first location was in Baldwin Park California (ReferenceforBusiness.com). This results in a change of perspective and outlook on life. The first mate had believed in the ship Sally Anne so much that he did not think that anything could happen to it. He believed that the ship was stronger and studier than it was. After the accident the mate is forced to begin to see the truth about the ship and his life. He finally began to see that the thing he dedicated his whole life to was not as great as he thought. By the end of the story his outlook on life changes and he starts to think about what is next and working on the next step in surviving. The truth is something that people hide from and try as hard as they can not to face, however there are something’s that you cannot ignore as much as you try and one
My introduction to The Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy series by Douglas Adam began with another version of the book by one of my favorite author, Eoin Colfer, his version was humorous, dramatic and have a bit action. I was curious to read the original author’s version and found it on equal ground, if not better than the other version. The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy is a new experience for those who are familiar with other science fiction novels. while most of the science fiction novels are more focus on action, drama, romance, death by robots, or dystopian futures. The Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy are more on comedy, irony, mistakes, politics and many other things. The pacing or the story is somewhat fast so I had to reread the
In the book it shows us how civilizations end and why they do. First man came to mars when Martians were there. Then he soon took over mars. The main reason man came to mars is because he was fleeing from the war back home. But soon when the war got to an extent he went back to earth. But few people stayed back, and then they became Martians. That basically shows what had happened in the past.
The book opens up at the office of a professor named Burris. A former student of his, Rogers, and his friend, Steve, arrive at his office. They are disturbed by the current state of life in America and have come to Burris to ask him about the utopia that he had once discussed in class. Rodgers got his inspiration from an article written by a man named Frazier. It turns out Frazier, a friend of Burris’s from graduate school, is also where Burris got his ideas. Burris sends
The essence of the book is about perspectives. one of the most common ideologies about perspective is how one views a glass of liquid is it half full or half empty. This is supposed to speak volumes about how one sees life. of course there is more to perspective than how one sees a glass of liquid but it is one of the easiest ways to put perspective into
The show provides a hope that these children will find their friend and bring him back to their world alive. The viewer never gets to fully know what happens because the series ends in a mystery. The viewer never gets to fully know whether some of the characters will be free to live their lives or be placed back into solitude. Existentialism plays a very big role in Stranger Things. It makes one think of what it means to have free will and to be
The Ballad Of The Sad Cafe Throughout the novel The Ballad Of The Sad Cafe by Carson McCullers, there is an evident recurring theme of the past. Ever present in the story is a feeling of unrequited love. illustrated through looking at the parallels of the intertwined relationships between three separate individuals. Miss Amelia Evans, Cousin Lymon Willis, and Marvin Macy, are the players involved in this grotesque love triangle. The feelings they have for each other are what drives the story, and are significant enough that the prosperity of the entire town hinges upon them.

Discussion Question #1: In the final scene of the film, Sam and Mustafa’s restaurant, through a communication error, is named American East instead of American Middle East. What does American East, or American Middle East, mean in relation to the film’s plot and characters? Do any of the characters reach perfect an equilibrium between their two cultures? Who are they and how is this shown in the film?

Book review of hitch hiker’s guide to the galaxy Arthur Dent is a middle aged English man, who lives in a normal house in the West Country One morning, Mr. L. Prosser comes to Arthur's house telling him that it is going to be demolished as it’s in the way of a bypass. Arthur is unhappy about this, but the impatient Mr. Prosser tells him that if he had a problem with it, there was time to protest and that the plans were "easily accessible" in a dark, locked cellar Ford Prefect, Arthur’s friend who happens to be an alien from Betelguese, comes to his house and tells Arthur they have to go to the pub. Arthur agrees and Ford tells Prosser not to knock down the house while they are at the pub. Ford tells Arthur that the end of the world is only
