A few years back my twin brother killed himself and it shook me to my core and started me thinking about when I had felt the most alone and I thought of when other times that I needed the Lord the most and or someone to help teach me about the Lord. It was in my adolescents and that was a very touching, motivating moment in my life. It started me looking into suicide and suicide in teenagers. As stated at The Parent Resource Program (@ jasonfoundation.com)
Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college-age youth and ages 12-18. More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, Stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease combined.

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Suicide is the third leading cause of death among adolescents, accounting for a greater number of deaths than the next seven leading causes of death combined for 15- to 24-year-olds, Almost 1 in 12 adolescents in high school made a suicide attempt, and 17% of adolescents seriously considered making a suicide attempt, in the calendar year 2005 (CDC,
There have been many instances of suicide that have occurred in the past years at universities across the country, and since it is such a sensitive subject, there have not been nearly enough coverage as this topic deserves, considering this issue does not seem to be going away. When collecting data about suicide statistics, the age range is broken down as people ages 15-24, which spans most developmental years. Within this bracket are college-age students and this age-group has by far the most troubling statistics around it.
A mother finds her 17 year old teenage son hanging from the rafters of their basement. To hear of this occurrence is not rare in society today. Every 90 minutes a teenager in this country commits suicide. Suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15-24 year olds. The National suicide rate has increased 78% between 1952 and 1992. The rate for 15-19 year olds rose from two per 100,000 to 12.9, more than 600 percent. (Special report, Killing the Pain, Rae Coulli)
I walked through the door leading to the room, and instantly tears filled my eyes. These tears were different than the first, it was no longer about me I didn't really know that at the time however, but looking back, that moment was the instance that took my original perspective, and with no control it flipped into no longer being about myself. It changed into an awareness that the work I did, it wasn't about my connection with the dog, the TV interview wasn't about me, the training wasn't to fulfill having a dog in the house. It was about the potential impact, the change in someone else's life that was going to forever
I clearly remember not so long ago when I was in a deep state of desperation. I had just lost my sole guardian that I had known all my life. This was a very trying time and I really
Losing my dad, at a young age is one the event that still upset me even up to this day. The devastating thing about my lost is that, I don't have any memory of him. I know people keep telling me that I lost a father, but I really don't understand how it feels to lose someone close to me. There were days that I missed having a father, but without a memory of him made it sometimes easier to bare. Other times, it's difficult for me to think about him, because I have no memories of him and I want something to remain me of him. Losing him and living in a refuge camp for 11years, changed my worldview from having a loving God to not having a God. All those years, I thought God did not love my family. I asked myself so many questions, like way will

Being as suicide is one of the leading causes of Death among young people today, it is a major problem in American high schools and colleges. “Suicide is not chosen; it happens when pain exceeds resources for coping with pain” (I-10). Ending a life is a big step in the wrong direction for most. Suicide is the killing of oneself. Suicide happens every day, and everyday a family’s life is changed. Something needs to be done to raise awareness of that startling fact. Suicide is a much bigger problem than society will admit; the causes, methods, and prevention need to be discussed more openly.
The first time I really felt alone was when I was leaving Kentucky. We were at the airport saying our last good-byes. I was leaving everything and everyone that I loved, understood, cared for, to come and study in the Bay area. I was leaving familiar territory and moving into an unknown, unfamiliar world. I was saying good-bye to people who I had either grown up with or those who had seen me grow up. All my memories and emotions were attached to them. They were people who I thought really knew me and understood me. Yet every one of them had their own impression of how I should feel. Excitement, joy, fear, and sadness being the most popular. However nobody really knew what I was feeling. I felt all these emotions blended into an unique emotion of my own. One that I could not share with even my best friend.
In 1996, suicide was the second-leading cause of death among college students, the third-leading cause of death among those aged 15 to 24 years, and the fourth- leading cause of death among those aged 10 to 14 years.
Suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year olds, and the sixth leading cause for 5 to 14 year olds. Suicide accounts for twelve percent of the mortality in the adolescent and young adult group. Young males are more common than young woman suicides. These are only children who followed through with the suicide. For every successful suicide there are fifty to one hundred adolescent suicide attempts. In other words, more than five percent of all teenagers tried to commit suicide, and the number is still rising. It is scary to think that four percent of high school students have made a suicide attempt within the previous twelve months. In a small safe town like Avon, in the Avon High School where you and I practically live, you can see the faces of 22 students that have tried to commit suicide. That is enough to fill a classroom.

When I was fourteen an aunt that I was very close to was diagnosed with brain cancer. The feeling of hopelessness was overwhelming. Her condition was getting worse by the day and it was not long before she passed away. I was so depressed at the loss of my aunt until my mom reminded me that as a family we were all sealed at the temple
