Mom is gone for the summer, the babysitter's dead, and now they have NO money. Sue Ellen was just a regular teenage girl who ended up having to take care of her siblings for the summer, due to the tragic event with the babysitter. Due to the fact that their mother was out of town, Sue Ellen did EVERYTHING on her own and had struggled to provide for her siblings, basically like a single mother. She’s a 17 year old teenager who chose to take care of her siblings instead of worrying about her personal life, and that’s the most heroic thing a sister could do for her siblings. Leadership is one of the most important traits Sue Ellen showed the most, by taking charge of the family and providing for her household. For example, while she was at work pretending to be something she’s not, she had ended up hearing the boy she likes having a conversation with his sister on how she never has time for him. Because of this, her personal life became messy and almost ruined her chances with the boy she actually wants to be with. As a result, she couldn’t tell nobody but her siblings the truth about who she is, which eventually led her to having mixed emotions about everything. This flaw didn’t stop her though, and she continued to do what she had to do as a “mother” and big sister. Therefore, even though Sue Ellen had a few flaws here and there, she is considered to be a very heroic person. She could have ruined her mother’s trip or all of her siblings could have went to foster care, but instead she chose to pause on her personal life for awhile and step up to the plate and take care of her siblings. Being only a 17 year old who hasn't even graduated yet, choosing her family’s well-being over anything else is one of the best heroic thing a big sister can
