In regards to successful entrepreneurs, Karsten Strauss wrote, “Entrepreneurs have a greater capacity for pain and discomfort than most. They can stay up later, work longer hours, stay more focused and, somehow, are able to set so much aside in deference to their dreams and visions. But there’s so much more that sets them apart.” Successful entrepreneurs are distinctly different but all have a parallel set of personal attributes. Each personal characteristic is a key to the overall success of an entrepreneur. The core traits an entrepreneur must display are passion, persistence, integrity, flexibility, curiosity, and ability to network. These core values must be inherently inside an entrepreneur if they plan to succeed. Education can enhance …show more content…
Passion is a strong love or desire. The characteristic of passion drives an entrepreneur’s excitement and willingness to invest them in an idea. Similar to a passionate parent beaming with pride when their child succeeds, successful entrepreneurs do the same with their business. A parent has a strong love for their child, and as a result devotes themselves to the success of the child. It is imperative for the entrepreneur to be “hopelessly devoted” to their idea. If truly passionate about their idea, an entrepreneur will willingly give of themselves and receive an internal reward far more valuable than any monetary items. Albert Schweitzer said, “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”(“ Happiness Is the Key to Success") Successful entrepreneurs will pursuit their desires and the things that make them satisfied driving success. The quality of input will drastically differ if an entrepreneur has passion for the work. If a person is going after their personal desires, they will want to see it flourish. Successful entrepreneurs are happy about their passions which connects them to …show more content…
Curiosity is a key attribute of successful entrepreneurs because it leads to risk and ideas. Risk and ideas in turn lead to reward. Curiosity is an innate behavior in successful entrepreneurs. As opposed to becoming occupied with daily routines, they ask, “Why?” and “Why not?” These questions trigger new and improved answers, and they lead to new breakthroughs. Walt Disney, the successful entrepreneur, said, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we 're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” (Wharez, Eddie) Similar to Disney’s belief, if entrepreneurs are curious they can make changes that are unimaginable to a rigid-thinker. Entrepreneurs should have an unorthodox method to approaching daily activities in order to create and improve businesses. The trait of curiosity is significant to entrepreneurs because successful entrepreneurs are constantly thinking, creating opportunities, and striving to make a difference. If no one ever challenged the norm we would live in a stagnant
Entrepreneurship is a valuable skill that every person should acquire and use in their lifetime,
I have learned that success must be earned. Motivation is keyed in the success. Most people who are very successful (Steve Jobs, Barack Obama, Bernie Madoff, Etc.) are very motivated with their successful business. Angela Duckworth did a Ted Talk about grittiness and how it ties in with being passionate. I think that success also goes in with it. I agree that grittiness is almost identical with being passionate. Duckworth also mentions another thing about growth mindset, which was in Carol Dweck’s article “Brainology”. Growth mindset is a gateway to success is being open to doing new ideas. I think that all the sources that we have read or watched in this class have been connected to one of the other sources. Both Daniel Pink and Angela Duckworth
An entrepreneur does not always come in trying to meet an existing need, as well as Yankee Candle, E-bay, Starbucks, Staples, and many other business brought values where none existed before. Entrepreneurial thinking is exactly this, possibility to explore 'uncharted waters' and take most advantage of it.
"You have to be burning with an idea, or a problem, or a wrong that you want to right. If you 're not passionate enough from the start, you 'll never stick it out” (Steve Jobs). Reading that quote there is one word that really sticks out and says something to me; passionate. To be or to become the greatest leader in whatever field you’re into, if there is no passion in the work or goal you’re trying to achieve, you’ll never be able to stick it out or grow/prosper in the end. Just like the quote above from Steve Jobs states.
There has been a large amount of attention paid to the subject of entrepreneurship in the last few years; mainly because most people have chosen to go from working for somebody else, to be their own bosses and work for their dreams. Nevertheless, many still wonder what is entrepreneurship and what is that sets entrepreneurs apart from other regular business owners. At first, it seems both concepts do not differ much from each other since they both start up and run businesses and assume risks to pursue opportunities; however, there are certain traits that difference them.
Entrepreneurship incorporates unconstrained imagination and a readiness to settle on choices without strong information. The entrepreneur may be driven by a need to make something new or assemble something unmistakable. As new ventures have low achievement rates, the business person should have impressive tirelessness. Because of this, the entrepreneur may have the best risk of achievement by concentrating on a business sector corner either too little or too new to have been commanded by built up organizations.
It is true that most entrepreneurs typically have a flair for the creative and a lot of energy. They are born with it. But having these characteris...
Entrepreneur's should have a strong drive to successes and overcome obstacles. Confidence and strong will are must. An entrepreneur should be sharp and always think of ways to run their business flexibly .Another important quality of a successful entrepreneur is being adaptable to
entrepreneurs have the ability to come up with new ideas in various situations of which one might have never imagined. Entrepreneurs have a curiosity that identifies overlooked niches and they are constantly trying to innovate (Robinson, 2014). They imagine another world and have the ability to communicate that vision effectively to investors, customers and staff.
Driven by an intense commitment and determined perseverance, entrepreneurs work very hard at what they do. They excel and want to win. Entrepreneurs are amazing people with a high respect of character. They use their mistakes as something to learn from rather than a failure. No matter the outcome, they believe in themselves and have an extreme confidence not only in themselves, but also in what they do.
Passion for Family, Community, Business, Technology and Intellectual growth are what motivate me on the daily basis. These are vital parts that have contributed to framing me into the person I’ve become. They have also shaped my short-term and long-term goals in life. It’s critical for one to have a vision for their life and what they anticipate to accomplish. Without a vision or desire there is no hope for one to continue and to purse anything. My experiences with in my passions have helped me aligned my vision for my life. They have given me the valuable knowledge that have set me up for success to get to this point in life.
Risk-taking is one of the chief dimensions of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs are found to be more risk takers than the managers and salaried employees, such that, they are willing to put their homes on mortgage, jobless and can work for years without any earning (Burns, 2011; Masters & Meier, 1988). According to (Moore & Gergen, 1985), entrepreneurs always take calculate risk and always analyse the situation. Cognitive Psychology supports that the risk taking ability is just limited to their area of expertise (Sjöberg, 1978, Heath & Tversky, 1991). According to (Heath & Tversky, 1991), entrepreneurs take more risk in the area of their interest and expertise and not in those area, they have little knowledge about. But even then also, they take more risk than general population.
Being a student of success you will find there are varying traits but consistent ones, that lean toward success. It is your personality, your inner drive that will make you successful. Once you identify those traits, your journey as an entrepreneur will lead to success. Here now is THE list. See what you have and what you will need to acquire to achieve:
Many people dream of becoming entrepreneurs someday. But it made me realize that there other factors that needs to be taken into consideration. We need to ask ourselves are we ready to take the challenge to the outside world. Not everyone have the vision, innovation and creativity to become an entrepreneur. The individual must have a positive attitude and accept the responsibility, have discipline to meet their goals, and take action when the opportunity presents itself. Many prefer a job security and rely on a weekly paycheck, while entrepreneurs will take risks and doesn 't have that luxury to know the amount of their income.
We learned a lot of things in this course, but I think the most important lesson I learned is that it’s not easy to be an entrepreneur. I was surprised to hear in the first class that 80% of startups fail, but after reading The Art of Start and E-myth Revisited I understood why this happens more often than one might expects. Some people start their own businesses for the wrong reason and some start with wrong mindset. I’ve always thought that if someone has a brilliant business idea and hardworking they will succeed and grow their business. However, now I know that there are many things to consider before starting any business. In fact, there are many strategies that an entrepreneur could follow to achieve success, such as know your customers, work “on” the business, and how
