Each person has a different understanding of success on account of the fact that everyone has their own success criteria. Some people believed that earning a lot of money today is a success while some think that does well on what he wants to do is success. How can we achieve success? Some consider that success can only be achieved by talented people, while others argued that talent is important, but those who are not wise can still succeed through an acquired effort. I agree to the latter view. The unintelligent can be successful through some conditions, such as self-confidence, persistence and diligence. In the first place, you shall be diligence in your whole life. A philosopher once said that there are only two creatures that can surmount …show more content…
Einstein was good. He could not speak at the age of three and his reaction is particularly slow even at the age of ten. Due to his slow response and can’t speak fluent, he was once ridiculed by his teachers and classmates. Without a friend, he began to look for spiritual strength in books. In this way, Einstein knew Archimedes, Newton, and Descartes... It opens up a wider space for him. With a broad vision, he slowly stepped onto the road of the physics. This stupid student, who was thought to be "nothing to be done" by the teachers, became the founder of modern physics, and became the most brilliant physicist in the modern world through his …show more content…

When Liu Xiang stood on the podium in the 110-meter hurdles at the Athens Olympics, the whole world cannot believe this, a yellow skin of Asian, who comes from Shanghai, China, broke the pattern of unchanged of 110 - meter dash for hundreds of years. And his confident words will remain in our hearts: "yes, I am the champion of the world today, and I want everyone to see that I am a yellow skin Chinese, I can fly." Liu Xiang believes that he can break through, and always aim at it, which is a kind of confidence in
I agree with Gladwell that hard work can lead to success. Too often we think success happens because someone has money or gets lucky. This is wrong. Success takes hard work, imagination, and motivation. “Success is not a random act. It arises out of a predictable and powerful set of circumstances and opportunities.” (Gladwell 52) If you assert yourself and use your mind and imagination, you can create those
There is no concrete definition for success, and there is not a foolproof way to obtain it, but it is something many strive for. In Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcolm Gladwell explains, with examples of successful people throughout history, that hard work along with a little bit of luck and willingness to seize every opportunity is the only way to become successful. Malcolm Gladwell illustrates throughout the story external factors that are mostly uncontrollable and internal factors like hard work that are very controllable lead to these outliers and unimaginable success stories.
Jameia Johnson Director Riveroll Senior Monday 28 August 2017 What makes someone successful is someone that is optimistic , embracing challenges, has confidence and someone that is passionate about what they do. Angela Lee Duckworth claimed grit to be the key to success. During an interview, she defined grit as “the disposition to pursue very long-term goals with passion and perseverance.” (qtd in Raz). Duckworth also mentioned that she wanted “to emphasize the stamina quality of grit. Grit is sticking with things over the long term and then working very hard at it.” (qtd in Raz). “For the last 11 years, Angela Lee Duckworth of the University of Pennsylvania has been conducting groundbreaking studies on grit -- the quality that enables individuals to work hard and stick to their long-term passions and goals.” (Perkins-Gough). Grit may be seen in several of characteristics throughout others. Although we may have different characteristics, my brother and I both comprehend grit to be the key to success.
To give my personal philosophy of success I would first have to define “success”. Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. My success philosophy that I plan on implementing from now on is accepting personal responsibility for the good and bad choices I make. There will be time when I need to focus on school and worry less about my free time. If I have a test to take I have to study for that test to get a good grade and continuous good grades will help me pass the course. I can’t depend on anyone else to do my work for me I’m personally responsible for completing my assignments and turning them in on time. When the weekend comes around and all I do is procrastinate by telling myself I’ll study later. The smart thing to do about this situation would be to think wise and use my time-management strategies. I’ll always have time for myself, so sacrificing some free time now is well worth it. This helps me to be a creator and not the victim about things and keeping up with the self-management strategy. The success strategies that I will use will help my learning style, self-management and self-responsibility. Most people believe success is just having lots of money, cars, and women but I believe success is an individual sport and I have to be ready to play because the outcome of my performance is based on the work I put into it.
Success is within the mind of the individual. A large portion of ones life is spent working to become successful. People are told throughout childhood to work hard so they can grow up and make lots of money. But success takes many different forms. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. For some, success is measured by social status and wealth; for others success is determined only by the amount of happiness one feels.
Einstein was marked by deep inquisitiveness and inquiry, and had a never ending passion to find out all the secrets of the universe. He was very serious about his ambitions, and was very dedicated and tenacious in pursuing his objectives. Einstein’s drive and energy was directed toward his accomplishments and achieving concrete results. His ingenious brain made nuclear fission possible, helped astronomers discover black holes, and is the basis to develop new technology. People are still testing out Einstein’s theories today. Albert Einstein provided a foundation to further advance scientific research and the development of new
What is success? Success is defined differently depending on who is asked. Some might define success by how much money someone makes a year or has in their bank account, while others might define success as the happiness someone possesses. Regardless of the way someone defines success, chances are they want to achieve success in every aspect of their life. Guides that contain blueprints to the characteristics needed to accomplish success include Unbroken by Lauren Hillenbrand, which is an incredible retelling of the journey Louis Zamperini, an American Olympic distance runner turned Japanese prisoner of war, went through. The Road to Character by David Brooks, which describes the shift in humanity from WWII to present day, is also a great blueprint to the characteristics needed to be successful. In addition to text resources, personal interviews with successful people can also be
To most of us, they say they can spot success at first glance. Generally by the car one drives or how one is dressed. Some might see it by how healthy or how happy one feels. Merriam Webster's Dictionary states that success is “the fact of getting wealth, respect, or fame.” If one where to adopt this definition of success, one might go on to living a life of materialism. This mindset is deceitful and will only reward you with short term happiness, like a drug addict searching for a quick fix. For one to be ultimately successful, one must be able to overcome hardships and possess qualities like integrity, pride and patience which no amount of money in the world could buy. These qualities will make anyone strive in most, if not all the difficult obstacles one must face in life.
There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities can range from attending class to going above and beyond what’s expected. Success comes from the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I must step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay on top of what needs to be accomplished.
Teachers are what make the doctors, lawyers, policemen and the list goes on, yet many people still do not consider their job a profession. Argumentors ideology is a bit logical because not all students graduate high school; enter college/university, graduate and end up in a profession. Students are the reaped crop and if some are not delivering fruit, how can others tell that the students were taught properly? Also, as seen through Savage Inequalities: Children in American School’s, by Jonathan Kozol, some teachers should not be allowed in that field. Teachers are supposed to instruct, engage, and place attention to the students, but if they do not have a passion to educate the students, they will receive that negative atmosphere in the classroom and decide no to learn. In the beginning, teachers were mainly women because the government did not have to pay them too much. Currently, we have both male and female instructors doing the job. Teachers are educating the future, so they should receive proper education and tools, like a lot of other professions, teachers should undergo a series of lessons and tests every two years, so they can be kept up to date on the methodologies of teaching. Furthermore, in order to teach the children properly, teachers need the right materials for that peculiar subject. Lastly, teachers should receive multicultural training, so they know what types of students they are dealing with.
