Recommended: What success means
Success is a word that is hard to define, because everyone has their own perception of success. When people think of success, they typically start thinking of the “American Dream” with a large house, nice cars, and tons of money. However, success has nothing to do with material goods, instead it is tied to a broader concept of reaching goals. For example, an athlete may feel that scoring the winning point of the game is being successful. A parent may feel successful when their child graduates from college. Success is a term that varies between individuals and different situations. For me, I have my own definition of success. Success is defined by exceeding my personal, academic, and economic goals that I have set for myself. I believe a person’s success is based on his or her personal achievements. For example, when I was a teenager, I set a goal to become a homeowner by the age of thirty. In 1998, at the age of twenty–six, I built a home from the ground. I considered myself very successful because not only did I reach my goal, but I exceeded it by four years. Another example of personal success is when I set a goal to put my daughter through school. In May 2015, my daughter was the recipient …show more content…
For example, some students may set a goal to excel in one particular class, make a certain grade on a future test, or excel for the entire semester. When a person develops a great work ethic they will continue to excel. A person can also excel academically by having a good support system. When a support system is in place, the individual has the extra push and motivation needed to continue striving for his or her goal. For example, a student may want to be on the A/B honor roll for a semester. However, when that student expresses this goal to family members who encourages them daily, they receive all A’s for an entire year. That student is successful in achieving his or her academic goal with the help of the support
Success is within the mind of the individual. A large portion of ones life is spent working to become successful. People are told throughout childhood to work hard so they can grow up and make lots of money. But success takes many different forms. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. For some, success is measured by social status and wealth; for others success is determined only by the amount of happiness one feels.
Success is more than how it's defined. Success is happiness. It can be small things that are already accomplished, like having a best friend with an open friendship, where everything is comfortable to talk about, and it is normal that way. Right there is success alone, but there is so much more. Success is perseverance. It can be things that are worked for; things that are spent countless hours
What does success mean to me? To me, success is to attempt to achieve the goal you’re striving for. Success doesn’t come and appear casually, it requires a lot of hard work and determination. The key to accomplish the success in your goal is a lot of motivation. A lot of people set goals and usually give up if it’s too hard.
According to The Oxford Dictionary of the English language success is defined as “The accomplish of an aim or purpose.” But, depending on who you ask, success can be defined differently for every person. Fortune, wealthy, and popularity may label someone as successful in some people’s eyes, but others might consider successful as being happy, proud, and content. Colin R. Davis, a British conductor, once said “The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same.” What he means by this is, in order to be successful you must fail at first, learn from it, then fix your mistakes and flourish.
The universal meaning of success is projected to be an achievement of something that is desired or planned out. People constantly strive to find success in everything they do, day in and day out, in their lives. As stated by Susan Schulten, the author of Success, “In today’s society, success is rarely achieved solely by one person” (Schulten 9). Although it is impossible to live in a truly equal world the desire of success overpowers the goals of any other, and many people aim for the same goals. A lot of people may doubt their ability to reach success because of their failed intentions to target a specific goal. They may have vague expectations, but not a true measure of what a favorable outcome for them might be. Herman Cain, an American business politician, believes that success is not found in happiness. Rather, happiness is the key to success. If one loves what they are doing, they will be successful. He claims, “Success is a way of life and not something that you bump into one day down the road. In order to define success in relation to this statement, first define what it means to live successfully” (qtd. in Art 27) No matter what the level of intensity a task might bring, one should always look into accomplishing their objectives. The road to becoming a successful person requires overall development and understanding of the risks, skills, knowledge, and power involved in achieving the various goals one may have.
My personal definition of success means to me is to have accomplished my self defined goals that I have developed though out the years such as education and finding a solid employment and having a healthy relationship with my family members, class mates and my spouse. I passionately believe strong mental fitness and physically fit has a direct correlation to success My first idea of what success mean to me is Accomplishing my self defined goals that I have made of the course of my life, defining goals gives you long haul vision and here and now inspiration. It centers your securing of information, and causes you to sort out your opportunity and your assets with the goal that you can make the vast majority of your life.
The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. Success can be defined in many ways including: wealth, happiness, fame, etc. Success can be anything from material goods to concepts. It all depends on your concept and how you achieve your goals. You have to have persistence within yourself. Varying on your profession, you will need a certain skill level. Your definition of success can be suitable best for you, but not for others. It is about truly not giving up, reaching your full potential, and self-fulfillment.
Success does not come easily; people have to work for it, such as students must work hard to achieve their dream to graduate from college. When children are little, they have been told that they must do well in school in order to be successful. This will continue through college years. If students were working hard by doing all their homework, studying, and doing the best they can on exams, and then they will receive good grades, which will lead to a more successful life.
‘Success’ can come in many different definitions. It’s depends on how you define ‘success’. In today’s society, many people think that wealth is the best measure of success and I believe all the wealthy person out there begins with “no one” and becomes “someone”. Do you think without hard work, it can make you a wealthy person? No.
Success According to Smithsonian Magazine, behind every success story there is an embarrassing first effort, a stumble, a setback or a dramatic change of direction (Crawford). These clumsy first steps begin a person's journey of success. The idea of being and feeling successful enhances lives. People create hopes, dreams, and aspirations, but there is no way to determine what success means to every person-- success is viewed in different ways.
Success differs from one person to another and, in my opinion, does not have anything to do with material goods but is rather tied to broader concepts, for example, happiness, health and overcoming obstacles. When we are not as healthy as we can be, it is hard to push ahead and maintain a sense of fulfillment from life. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, success means a favorable or desired outcome. It can also mean the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence. Personally, success is the result of many accomplishments throughout your whole life.
Success. Whether it will last or not, everyone has a dream to be success. In my personal thought, all of us deserves to be success after so much efforts we had put on something. However, success should not be measured by how wealth someone is. Even the poverty-stricken people also can achieve their own success.
Failure The lesson learned from my many shortcomings and failures has been difficult, decisions made in haste, followed by regrets, at lease it seems that way for me, Perhaps is it my youth and lack of experience but my worst enemy and cause of failures has been my self-doubt and inability to ask for help. The negative self-talk that prevented me from pushing myself to my fullest potential that now comes back to haunt me as I prepare to enter college. Why didn’t I take those classes more seriously, study a bit harder, or consider the importance the outcome would have in a few short years? As I look back on that scared young man that feared failure, I can only hope that perhaps, those early lessons will be the fuel that will propel me into
A quote by Marva Collins states, “success does not come to you, you go to it.” This is exactly how I look at my success. My definition of success is being happy and doing what you love. The only way I can achieve this goal is by receiving an education, saving money, and picking a career path that I will enjoy. I work hard in school to be prepared for when I go off to college, which will eventually lead me to a career. Another plan of mine is to save as much money as I can before college and apply for many scholarships, so I can graduate from college with as little debt as possible. I set these goals myself, however, none of these goals could be possible without the support from my family.
Personal success for me is being able enjoy little things that life has to offer. For instance; understanding and appreciating diversity. To have someone to love and treasure, to meet the right person, fall in love, and get marry. To feel that I’m able to love my child and pass on wisdom to him .Feeling that someone loves me, is something that makes me completely happy and successful. Because I believe that without love, life is not thoroughly complete, thus never truly achieve success. I believe that, by being mentally and physically healthy, I have achieved personal success. When I get home to see my loving husband, my loved child, and then I’m able to sit down, relax and appreciate life, then I’m successful in my own right.
