School is, in most cases, the largest part of a child's life. They spend most of their daytime at school, and most of the people they meet are at school. So why shouldn't they have more of an influence in what happens at school?
School is often referred to by kids as a prison, or torture. It's not uncommon to overhear students talking in the hallways about why this one teacher made them so mad, or how Ms. Whoever failed them on a test just because she hates them. Students complain about just about everything there is to complain about. They say it's too hot, too cold, the school lunch sucks, the teachers suck, the classes suck, and so on. Some teachers are too strict, some are not strict enough. Some assign homework, some don't. Some let you use the restroom, and some bribe you with extra credit so you won't go. These small things along with teaching style, effort put into grades, and many more aspects in the classroom give students a certain vibe from their teacher. There is no way any evaluation made by a superior can judge a teacher better than their students can. They are giving an example of stepping up to authority for kids around the country. Kids need to have the power to change things to suit them. They should be our main focus as a society, because they will become society in the future. Students should be encouraged to stand up and change policies that affect their daily
