I got to the student of the month because I lived by one motto: Never quit. Start now and continue to be successful. By living by this code I can help myself to achieve my school goals: Have a 3.5 GPA or higher and to finish high school with honors. In the future when I go to college, I would like to be in the forensics field and earn a bachelors or a masters degree in it. This award has taught me something very important. Getting student of the month has shown me how much I have improved my scholarly skills like being organized and prepared for school. Although there is others with the same goals as me, I am always attentive to my progress in achieving my goals and not let anything stand in the way. It´s important to know when there's an
Last summer I volunteered at a local hospital for a total of 136 hours. At the end of the summer I received an honorable mention award for being a dedicated volunteer who is highly respected around the hospital. Furthermore, I've been a committed volunteer during this school year. I have also been an active member of my school's HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) chapter; this March I will be competing in a medical terminology competition against members of other HOSA chapters across the state. Additionally, I am a devoted member of my school's academic decathlon team. Finally, I have been a member of CSF (California Scholarship Federation) for the past two years.
I believe that I am the best choice for the AVID Standout Award because I am a hard worker, a leader, and I give back to the community. I have always been a student that doesn't give up when they are struggling and wants to keep learning. I personally believe that a good education is the first priority of any human being because education has brought us where we are today in the world.
Johnson, I gave all my time and energy into becoming a better student, and a better person. My freshman year, I finished with over a 4.0 GPA. This set the trend for me throughout my high school career. My junior year, I was accepted into National Honors Society, which was for not only my grades but my community service and my leadership qualities that I had displayed in high school thus far. I am very grateful that I had a teacher who would be honest with me and make me realize what I needed to do in order to be
Getting this scholarship was my jump start to furthering my education and I knew from there that I was going to prove statistics wrong. I knew I was going to college and that things were going to be different for me and I was going to make a difference. I won’t be the black kid who drops out of school, because my education is too important to
“We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand” (24). Life has ups and downs and it is bound to happen to everyone. Whether it is a death in a family to getting fired. But there is one thing you can do to make your life interesting.
2015 was a real turning point in my high school career. I finally started working harder in school and started to enjoy it more. Although the enjoyment came right back down, it was still fun while it lasted. My writing however, has greatly changed. SAT #2 was where I really started having fun. “For Susan was a sinner. She smoked Crack Cocaine every day!” (SAT #2, Nowak) That was the SAT journal that made me realize that writing didn't have to be a chore. However the second half of the year was a little different. I think I started to grow lazy. My previously fine-tuned papers were now pretty much rants. “Pink is used anywhere from romantic nonsense to childish obsessions.” (Gatsby Color Analysis, Nowak) For my Gatsby analysis, my writing was all over the place and covered a wide range of topics. Unfortunately it made it sound pretty bad. I am starting to get better and regularly
This essay will explore the authors meaning of reflection, how various reflective styles can benefit the practitioners within their settings, and how important reflection is within Early Years Practice. According to Appleby (2010, p.10), reflection is a generic term which describes various behaviours involving feelings, and thinking about thoughts and experiences, in order to examine issues and develop, new understandings and insights. Reflection within practice allows the practitioner to develop a sense of awareness around their daily activities, and helps them to evaluate how they could evolve these activities further, if the given opportunity was to arise again. Similarly, keeping a reflective journal
Over the four years in highschool, I made this commitment in trying my best. It all has had paid off now as I approach graduation with a weighted GPA of 3.8 and ranking of 4 in my class. My honor classes have made me think that I can achieve anything. Hours of studying and hours on homework assignments have led me to the point where I am today. I plan to use my knowledge to help and grow the community in the
In the opening scene of the episode, Deangelo starts off his meeting with the employees by saying “big changes are coming and are coming fast and if you don’t like ‘em, this is called a door you can walk right through it. Alright, I’m not here to be your friend.” This shows his low consideration as the offices new boss. In contrary, he proceeds to tell Darryl that the company is sending him to business school at night on full ride and that Tony is getting a new office chair. This shows that he is high in initiation of structure. Deangelo is defining the role of the followers telling them what is going to happen, how it is going to happen, where it is going to happen, and when it is going to happen. Deangelo is quick to find out who would be
First, I would like to thank the Louie F. Cox Memorial AK Steel Foundation and the Middletown Community Foundation for their continued support as I pursue my education. My first year at Case Western Reserve University has been incredible and I found many opportunities to grow academically, spiritually, and socially. During my first few weeks on campus, I joined the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and also earned a seat on the executive board as membership chair. NSBE has allowed me to enhance my networking skills, advocate for diversity, and engage with the campus community. I also mentored high school students through the NSBE Jr. program and volunteered at engineering-themed events throughout the greater Cleveland area. A major highlight of this year was attending the National NSBE Convention in Kansas City, MO and meeting Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. His advice on finding a career in Silicon Valley was especially helpful, as I declared my academic path: a double major in computer science and business management (with a specialization in supply chain management) and a minor in data science.
That moment when my name was announced as the top graduate changed me. I went from just wanting to pass to striving for nothing less than the best I could do. My career requires ongoing education in many areas. My Fire Academy experience has changed the course of my life and educational views. Minimal efforts and barely passing are no longer my attitude. To me now, doing my best in school or in life is the only course I take. If you are at all like I was in high school remember this. Find your passion and your journey becomes
An internship is a formal program to provide practical experience for beginners in an occupation or profession. By this point in my internship I am more than half way through it and taking on more and more responsibilities and positions as I go along.
It all started when today, was the day I would be the student of the month. I was so happy that I was finally my turn to be student of the month. I went to school and I got to wear the class crown. The class crown is a crown that the student of the month wears on the first on the first day. The student of the month get to choose what fun activities we get to do for the entire month after we finish our assignments. It was an honor for me to wear the class crown.
It has been a while since I started at the internship and I am really glad I decided to work here. I think the experience in this area is a good preview of my career and future. I am learning some important skills and finding out some things about myself and the tough skin I will need in order to stay in the area of juvenile support.
I was able to overcome many problems and challenge myself in different aspects. At the very beginning of the year, I was very sensitive and having a bad experience meant a bad life to me. Later on, I started to realize what I am doing in school, and why I am here… I understood that life without ups and downs means you're died.
