Life is filled with many opportunities to find your passion and as a sixteen year old student, I would say helping others is mine. I do this through babysitting, student council, and well, just in my everyday life. As far as babysitting goes, I do it often in my neighborhood. It is my favorite thing to see smiles on the kids' faces and the relief parents have to get some alone time. I cannot describe the feeling I get when the kids and I are having a great time so I'd rather just tell you a scenario. IMAGINE I see those same smiles during student council activities and projects that I am apart of. Unfortunately, a few years ago a classmate of mine was diagnosed with Leukemia. As a group, Student Council put together a fundraiser and
For my passion project I made cookies, but not just any cookies, I made cotton candy cookie. There were many ups and a downs while making these cookies, but they all payed off in the end. I learned many things during this passion project. For example I learned why I wanted to make these cookies, I made three of my own recipes and learned some really cool facts!
Throughout my adult life, my passion has been to help others. I have always been driven to make the world we live in a better place, even if it is just for that one person. My passion and drive have been the influencing factors in my personal history, my interest in Therapeutic Recreation and my academic and career goals.
Freshman fifteen is the NEW EPIDEMIC!!.. or not? In the eyes of freshman, college can be seen as entering the lion’s den when transitioning from high school. Students routines, diets, and moods drastically change resulting in an imbalance of one’s well being. As a way to cope college freshman typically look towards food for a release. Therefore, this is where the term freshman fifteen was born. Freshman fifteen is the idea that in one’s first year of attending college, the student will gain fifteen pounds. On average students are gaining weight at an abnormal pace however, it is not exactly the amount that the media has portrayed.
Three years ago, I volunteer at the Florida hospital. It was a amazing experience to see how everyone was working together to save lives. Ever since then I wanted to become a registered nurse because of my compassion, and I want to care for people. I like giving advice and emotional support to others. Nursing is my passion in life.
Since I knew who I was volunteering with, I was able to enjoy volunteering with them. It also helped me become closer to some of the girls. I also love kids and teaching them new things. In addition, the topic I was teaching about also interests me so it was easy to teach them something I was very familiar with, I also gives a sense of achievement when I am able to successfully teach someone something that they can pass on to the next generation. I loved the feeling I got from volunteering.
Southeastern University is a private, Co-ed, Christian university. SEU’s main focus is to equip their students to be a next generation of leaders so that they can enter the real world as influential servants to their careers and communities. Southeastern university offers a plentiful amount of study programs, even the program I am interested in which is Human services. I selected this school First because it is a Christian college, and Second because of the programs of study. I chose to go to a Christian college because I grew up in a Christian household and because I believe in Jesus. I also chose Southeastern University because of the programs of study. SEU was one of the few colleges that had a program of study that I was interested in.
I like to help people, when I was 4 years old all year my family goes to the state interior to help people that don't have good conditions of life.
Because of this, the committee and I were able to sell nearly all of the tickets for the 50/50 raffle. This is a huge accomplishment for myself, because I know that with a little hard work and dedication I was able to contribute towards finding the cure for cancer. Another task I appreciated doing was describing the donated items to those participating in the silent auction. I was able to combine my passion for generating sales and communication skills out of the goodness of my heart, knowing that for every dollar I raised was going towards the
Merriam- Webster (n.d.) states the definition of proctor is, "one appointed to supervise students (as at examination)." Proctoring means that there is something that is deemed qualified to sit and watch you, the student, take your exam within the guidelines that have been set forth by the University. The University of the People requires proctored exams because all of our courses are online. Therefore, certain exams need to be administered in an environment that is controlled by someone that can ensure that there has been no cheating; time extensions; outside sources being used; in general so that all rules and guidelines for the exam have been met by the student. At a University where you attend a class in person, there is a proctor present for exams - the instructor. Since our instructors at University of the People cannot sit with us in the same room, they need
The most rewarding life is one in which there is a major element of serving others. Many people find a way to do this in their lives. Of course, there are many ways in which an individual can be of service to others. Some of the biggest problems at the global level, though, go largely unaddressed by most of us, and I think this is an area where young people can make important contributions.

I have spent most of my adult life working in a job that I take very little joy from. The joy I have experienced in my current employment is helping others and providing them a reason to smile. What can top that feeling I get from helping an adult customer? Helping the children understand a math problem or seeing their face when they realized that they have read a page out of a book. Seeing a child face light up when they are having fun but learning as well. It is a great experience to get a child excited about learning. Their excitement builds my own excitement. Through out my years in high school I looked forward to going to 4-H camp as a counselor. I volunteered at the local club when I was old enough to do so. I knew it would be full of responsibilities to take care of and watch over children. It took patients and endurance to walk in the hot sun for most of the day doing nature walks but it also takes patients to encourage children to try new things and continue the path to have a great week at camp. The first year, I guided swimming and then I taught arts and crafts. For those years at camp, I was able to share something I love. It is absolutely rewarding. I also have the great experiencing in teaching and preparing basic skills to an eight year old child. J...
Dr. Seuss once said, “ You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go,” which is why I chose to go to Student Council. For I know that Student Council will provide me with many outstanding opportunities, such as, being able to become a better leader, meeting new people, becoming more involved, and to being a part of something bigger than myself. I believe that Student Council can help me to reach these goals throughout this school year with all of the wonderful things that we will do. For example, I hope to be on the Sunshine Committee, because it will help me to branch out to meet new people and become a better more positive person through helping
