Student 3 Score ___ My intructor says it is important to use the checklist for answering essay questions in order t make sure i get the most points possible for wgar i know. It's a bunch of stuff to memorize, but after analyzing the list carefully, i think she may be right. i do need to understand what the question is asking; otherwise i probably won't get any credit even if i know something about the topic. The best way to do this is to plan ny abswer and then show the grader both that i understand ewhat the question is asking me to do nd how i will answer it. The grader knows i know the anwer, and it provides a guide for mw to follow so i make sure i cover all the points and don't get off the subject. Major points should stand out so that
Research My first research experience took place from the Fall 2012 – Summer 2013 in a neurobiology laboratory (Dr. Daniel Plas) focused on Parkinson’s Disease. In this project an undergrad student and I were tasked with optimizing a cellular medium for neural growth of the model organism Lymnaea stagnalis. This was comprised of following established protocols and altering certain variables within the formulas (differing concentrations of ions, pH, et al.) to observe growth pattern differences in vitro.
Melzer provided a ton of writing tips to consider before starting a writing essay. In my opinion, his most important tip is to ask a teacher questions about the assignment. Not only does this tip have its own section, it is also mentioned in most of his other tips. My favorite technique Melzer mentioned was to look for key verbs in a writing assignment. These key verbs can tell a writer what kind of approach their essay should take and what kind of writing the teacher expects. I also really liked how Melzer wrote to his audience of students. He specifically worded his article to relate to his main audience. The tip that I most relate to was Tip #7: Picking a topic that interests you. When I had to create a science powerpoint, which was worth more points than all the homework our class had done for the year, I was nervous that I would flunk because I have never done well on an oral presentation. The only plus was that we could pick any topic as long as it was related to earth science. I chose the topic of the Fukushima earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear
I have chosen my first, third and fourth essays that were submitted before the midterm exam. They are; Psychology of writing, ways of knowing and online learning. After reading them carefully and analyzing the topics, structure of the essays and their needs for improvement, I can point out the reasons why I picked these essays. I tried to pick first, third and last as...

1.You are a 8th grade language arts teacher, you teach at a private middle school and it is the end of January. Each month you assign your students a book and at the end of the month your students are required to lead a discussion, done completely by the students, about the assigned book. This month the students were assigned The Outsiders. The students lead an excellent discussion about the book; however, the next morning, Morgan and her mother walk into your class. Morgan’s mother expresses her anger toward you about having the students read such a violent book in class. After her mother has finished, Morgan tells her, “but mom, I really enjoyed the book.” Morgan's mother gives you a dirty look. What do you do?

The Sound of a Voice by David Henry Hwang is a play that tells the story of two people embroiled in a love affair that is marked by secrets, emotional distance, dishonesty, and ultimately, tragedy. The two characters, a Japanese man and woman who are probably both in their fifties, fall in love but do not even reveal their names to each other. The nine acts of The Sound of a Voice are set entirely in the woman's home.
When I was assigned the Pre-Test essay, I created my own version of an outline. The outline consisted of the following: bullet points for the introduction paragraph, three paragraph sections, and a conclusion paragraph (refer to page 4). This outline presented itself to be poor, useless, and non efficient; however, Dr. Kennedy provided me with outlines that were far more applicable. The process I used for the Revised Pre-Test Essay was a lot neater and sought out more properly. The outline consisted of my thesis statement, followed by topic sentences, and then examples that went with the thesis statement (refer to page 5). Although I changed my prompt for the Revised Pre-Test Essay, it proved to be much more superior and clearly written. Dr. Kennedy also provided online resources to check for any grammatical errors throughout my essays. Without Dr. Kennedy’s knowledge of Paperrater, I would not have known what to improve grammatically. Using these several processes encouraged me to become a more improved, and higher organized
The start if college is like the end of one’s childhood. Yet I had no intension of letting that go when I woke up yesterday at 7:00 am. Still, like high school, my mom dropped me off and picked me up; copping almost the exact same routine from the four years I spent in high school. Just as I thought this ought to be the easiest way of transportation, my mom proved me wrong once we reached the University of Washington’s parking lot.

Exam Essay Historically, women have been excluded from combat roles. On the surface, it is because men, who have always thought of themselves better and stronger than women, believed that females could not handle the responsibility of holding a combat position and women are rupturing the socially constructed gender norms that were set in place. According to Nicole Dombrowski, “no other topic concerning women’s role in war creates as great a debate as the question of women’s active participation in combat units.” The benefits of the expansion of women’s roles in the military advantage not only the women but the military as well. In comparison, the drawbacks of expansion of women’s roles are usually disadvantages to the men within the military.

After I read the tips, I started to write an essay with more than five paragraphs which have to be between three and five sentences. Using online resources is the best thing that I learned from this site. Using the first-person pronoun (“I” or “We”) in an essay and
Being a new college student can be tough. Balancing new work levels, trying to manage your time & also getting enough sleep are the main difficulties for a new college student coming straight from high school in my opinion. These problems can be easily solved by going to class and using the resources that are provided to you. This may not seem difficult but in reality it 's right in front of your face.
