As a college student and as a human it is normal to be stressed, everyone has different things to stress about and how they handle it. Well knowing that I have to try to write a fairly good essay it’s just another thing to be stressed about. I took all 3 of the surveys about stress because I felt I wanted to completely understand how much I am stressed and how I respond to stress. Before I took the test I thought I was going to be way more stressed than normal because it felt like it. After taking the “stressed out” test I discovered that my stress was at a normal/average level. After taking susceptibility to stress and response to stress I fell under the below average, witch was shocking. I feel like they weren’t completely accurate, because I feel really stressed and they didn’t measure what I am stressed about necessarily.

Stress- stress plays a huge factor in my life. As it does many the definition of stress is “a force exerted when one body or body part presses on, pulls on, pushes against, or tends to compress or twist another body or body part; especially: the intensity of this mutual force commonly expressed in pounds per square inch” stress is in my every day life in my every day routine. I go to school and focus hard all day and then end it with work and although I am only eighteen I do stress probably a lot more than a normal eighteen year old should. My mom on the other hand has a different kind of stress she is a store manager of the retail store Kohl’s so she has to focus on everything at one time. What her employees are doing what she needs to be doing and if she’s doing everything right. She also has to stress about paying bills and making sure they are out on time. And thankfully her kids are all grown because if we weren’t she would then be dealing with the stress of little kids needing her loving attention. Stress is a natural occurrence that most every person will experience at some point in his or her life. A stressor, as defined by Potter, Perry, Stockert, and Hall (2013), is any kind of event or situation that a person encounters in their environment that requires him or her to change and adapt. When a person responds to stress, his or her coping mechanisms and actions are individualized. No two people are going to handle stressful situations and cope with experiences the same exact way. Intense stress years earlier, especially in childhood, can predispose us to over-react to current stress. Having little control over our lives, e.g. being "on the assembly line" instead of the boss, contrary to popular belief, often increases stress and illness. I get stressed out easily, and a lot from school work. Stress is not an easy thing to deal with, and I find ways to deal with stress. I tell my parents so that they are aware. I meditate; meditating is difficult at times, but it takes practice. I also take warm/hot showers.
I chose a level 3 of stress because it stands for somewhat stressful. I am feeling this, because I’ve had a lot of school work this semester. I fell that it is normal during this time of year for feel somewhat stressful. My second score for the question about my average level of stress I put a 4. I chose this because I released that I am not really stressed when I don 't have any school work to worry about. My third score for my stress level was a 5. This means I have a moderate level of personal stress. I agree with this score I got, because I notice that I have some personal stresses every once in
Stress can come in many forms and look different for every person. Some people thrive off of stress and use that pressure to their advantage to become motivated and stir up their creative juices. Although some people don’t have the mental strength to take on stress and crack under any type of stressful situation and even casual stress. I myself have very low stress and do very well with stressful situations because things don’t bother me as much. I wasn’t very surprised with my low score because I have always been very easygoing person with great mental and emotional strength.
Unfortunately stress is something that everyone experiences, but how one handles stress and what a person experience stress from is unique. There are many different ways people can handle stress and the level of stress in each person’s life varies from time to time. Throughout my life I have experienced stress from time to time and currently the three things I am experiencing stress about is my job, school, and a situation taking place in my family.
Stress is the combination of psychological, physiological, and behavioral reactions that people have in response to events that threaten or challenge them. Stress can be good or bad. Sometimes, stress is helpful, providing people with the extra energy or alertness they need. Stress could give a runner the edge he or she needs to persevere in a marathon, for example. This good kind of stress is called eustress. Unfortunately, stress is often not helpful and can even be harmful when not managed effectively. Stress could make a salesperson buckle under the pressure while trying to make a sales pitch at an important business meeting, for example. Moreover, stress can increase the risk of developing health problems, such as cardiovascular disease and anxiety disorders. This bad kind of stress is called distress, the kind of stress that people usually are referring to when they use the word stress.
Stress is defined as “any circumstance that threatens or is perceived to threaten one’s well-being and thereby tax one’s coping abilities” (Weiten & Lloyd, 2006, p. 72). Stress is a natural event that exists literally in all areas of one’s life. It can be embedded in the environment, culture, or perception of an event or idea. Stress is a constant burden, and can be detrimental to one’s physical and mental health. However, stress can also provide beneficial effects; it can satisfy one’s need for stimulation and challenge, promote personal growth, and can provide an individual with the tools to cope with, and be less affected by tomorrow’s stress (Weiten & Lloyd, 2006, p. 93).
Some causes of stress can be life changes, work, financial problems, relationship difficulties, and family.
First, stress is defined as an unpleasant state of emotional and physiological arousal that people experience in situations that they perceive as dangerous or threatening to their well being (Patel, 14). Stress is a universal feeling to everyone but the word stress means different things to different people. Some people define stress as events or situations that cause them to feel tension, pressure or negative emotions such as anxiety or anger (Patel, 15). Other people may view stress as a process involving a person’s interpretation and response to a threatening event. In any case, stress has many facets of how one perceives and responds to the certain predicament that is ailing them.
Stress comes in many shapes and forms, it comes with the job of being human. My sources of stress come from the major parts of my life; academic pressure, social settings, and time management. As a high school student, high school in general is very stressful, but not only am I high school student I am also a college student. Double the responsibility means double the stress.
