Sociology can best be described as the study of everything in the world. The main purpose of this essay is to explain the science of sociology in great detail and what it generally focuses on.
Sociology is planned study of human groups and social life in modern societies; it is concerned with the study of social bodies. There are several important key terms in sociology such as; Marxism and Social norms. Social norms are a key part of sociology as it focuses on studying society and how it has changed over the course of several years. Marxism is a key theory in sociology as it focuses on the connection between the economy, communities, and social life. Sociology first emerged as a separate scientific discipline in the early 19th century and it is very different from common sense as common sense is just presumptions that we believe to be correct be it may have been in it past, this is different from sociology which looks at things more scientifically and looks for why things are that way instead of just assuming they have always been that way. Social action theories tend to be more small scale in comparison to social structural theories which are more large and complex. One of the strengths of Marxism is that it explains how laws are created and used to protect the current elite social class, however one weakness of Marxism is that it can be too simplistic as society is split into governmental societies and civil societies.
