Many people have different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to education I consider myself to have more strength than weaknesses. Most of my strengths I have helped me in life when things go difficult, but also has helped in school when classes get harder or I have to adapt and change with the program and also the way I need to prepared for that class. I coming back to school was difficult in the way of communicating with other fellow students. One of my major weaknesses was confrontation and also people skills. So some of the weaknesses have had an effect on me in life and in school. There are several people that have different mindsets. Some people have a grow mindset or a fixed mindset. For example, I’m struggling with math because it’s a new material, but instead of dropping the class I’m going to do anything so I can pass that class. Even if I fail the class this semester, I will take it again and get a better grade because I’m not a quitter. Another example is I make sure to be from ten to fifteen minutes early for my classes. These strengths will not just help me in my school, but it will always help me throughout life, and I can pass this advice to my kids and they can pass it to their …show more content…
Driving a forklift is difficult, especially in a fast phase in a packing house. Keeping up with other drivers was not easy when others load up trucks faster and don’t drop the fruit pallets. When you start dropping pallets in a job site it doesn’t look good in your part and you end up losing your job. Well for that reason I started practicing on my own time and got better and faster also safety plays a big part in driving a forklift. A weakness of mine is that I tend to procrastinate on certain things. One example is that I would work on assignments on the day they were due. Another weakness of mine set is that I get distracted in class or when I’m doing something. An example is when a person gets a phone ring and goes off and then they go out to answer it or if the instructor gives a long lecture. Because of the distraction, I’m not taking in the full knowledge or understanding of the material being taught. I am a hard working person and dedicated person and that is the reason why I graduated from high school, and also accomplished other things in life it’s about working harder today than yesterday, and I will not make excuses when I feel pressure or pain in my job and at the end the feeling is a success. I’m a growth mindset, and people that have a growth mindset, don’t
As far as I can remember, I was never really any good at school. I couldn’t concentrate on things for no more than 5 minutes at a time, I would either get discouraged or find it too easy and just give up. An author by the name of Carol Dweck wrote an article called “Brainology”. In it, Dweck describes that there are two types of mindsets: fixed and growth. Those who are afraid to fail so they never try anything new are those with a fixed mindset and the growth mindset are those who are not afraid to fail and find a new challenge, an opportunity to learn something new.
There are many attitudes that form certain mindsets. Some of these mindsets can change how a person does and perceives things. Some mindsets that can do just that are Dweck’s example of a growth mindset and fixed mindsets. According to Dweck, a fixed mindset is one in where “.. students believe that intelligence is fixed..” and a fixed mindset is the “..believe that intelligence is a potential that can be realized through learning. As a result, confronting challenges, profiting from mistakes, and persevering in the face of setbacks become ways of getting smarter. Because people with growth mindsets can through setbacks, and find alternatives to better themselves; They turn to perseverance and hard work to achieve their goals.
Based on the parenting style definitions, both my mother and my father use the authoritative style of parenting. My parents have high expectations for both my brother and I for our future as well as to follow their rules. My brother, Tristan, and sometimes I debate with my parents, sometimes it may be about their rules and to justify why we may have disobeyed their rules. My parents encourage our independence giving us trust that we can handle keeping our grades up, keeping up with our chores, and taking care of expensive items they buy for us; thus we must show our maturity to our parents and follow their guide lines. They have limits of freedom though because we are still adolescences going through life. Whenever
The weakness I portray are very difficult for me to think of. I know that I have quite a few but to change them is something that I have not full conquered yet. A weakness I know I have is sentence structure. I am not very good at putting sentences together and making them strong and well developed. Another weakness that is obvious is word choice. I don't always know the exact wording to use in different parts of a paper, this makes it hard to understand sometimes not very well written.
Your economic category will have a bearing on your social position known as class. This can be shown in terms of wealth, property ownership or your working and living environment. Positive psychology refers to strengths as positive qualities we each have as individuals. There are a few base principles to remember when working on strengths. It is important to value and develop individual talents, maintain healthy relationships, reflect on successes, practice, and teach others. It is important to focus on strengths and manage weaknesses. Our schools of today need to find ways to promote students into using their individual strengths. In classrooms individual talents should be valued and developed. For instance, one student in a class may be very strategic who is able to see patterns and issues within a project. This same class may also have someone analytical who likes to search for reasons as causes. A teacher who was taught to look for and recognize these strengths could draw on the strategic thinker to share with the class the patterns and issues they see ...

My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. I do not always expect to have a smooth flow of opportunities or accomplish goals, but
"Those with growth mindsets reported that, after a setback in school, they would simply study more or study differently the next time" (Dweck 2) . Students in a growth mindset understand that failures are temporary setbacks. That means they must be an effort in the learning process more vigorously. Dweck shows, " Those with fixed mindsets were more likely to say that they would feel dumb, study less the next time, and seriously consider cheating "(Dweck2). By contrast, students with a fixed mindset believe strongly in innate ability. Those get a failure, they would simply think they are not smart enough ,all their efforts has been wasted. As a result, that creates a desire to give up rather than trying
Siblings compete with one another to secure physical, emotional, and intellectual resources from parents. Depending on differences in birth order, gender, physical traits, and aspects of temperament, siblings create differing roles for themselves within the family system. These differing roles in turn lead to disparate ways of currying parental favor. (Epstein, 1997, p.51)
