Steve Wozniak was the kind of person who liked to tell jokes and pull pranks at the schools he attended. During high school, he decided he wanted to become an engineer. He graduated with honors from Homestead High School, California in 1968. He tried to convince his family to send him to Colorado University for the engineering program, but his family encouraged him to go to a nearby community college in California instead. After going to the community college to register for classes, he found out that the calculus, physics, and chemistry classes he wanted to attend were all full. So Steve went back to his parents to tell them the news, and they agreed to send him to Colorado University for his first year of college. He was not a dedicated student, since he liked to pull pranks such as jamming residents' cable in the dorms. Regardless, he will land several engineering jobs which would eventually lead to the invention of the Apple Computer.
Steve wanted to continue at Colorado University, but he knew his parents could not afford it. He decided to go to DeAnza Community College for his sophomore year. During a nine-month leave after his sophomore year, he and his friend Allen Baum were looking for a computer store in Sunnyvale, California. Instead of finding Data General Nova, they ran into Telnet, Inc., a company that was developing a new computer. They both applied for jobs and started working at Telnet. Steve programmed, designed, and tested diagnostics on devices, such as printers. During his time there, he shared his ideas about computer projects with other workers. He acquired computer chips from these workers that he would not have been able to get otherwise. Telnet was not successful at selling its computer, ...

...s urged Steve Wozniak to start a company with him. What would the company’s name be? Jobs once went to India and worked in an apple orchard, so he suggested “Apple” for the name. The both came to agree on the name, and on April fool’s Day, 1976, they officially formed the Apple Computer Company. Steve Wozniak was twenty-six years old, and Steve Jobs was twenty-one. They sold a Volkswagen van and a programmable calculator for $1350 because they needed the money to get the business going. They settled on the garage at Job’s parents’ house to produce the circuit boards.
Steve Wozniak continued working at H-P to save more money for the company. One day in May of 1976, Steve Jobs called him to tell him that they got their first order. Paul Terrell, the owner of the Byte shop, one of the first ever computer stores, wanted 100 Apple circuit boards for $500 each.

It was Steve Jobs who made Apple leave the garage and make leaps and bounds in the world of technology. Steve Wozniak made the first prototype, but it was Jobs who “saw the potential” in his computer and persuaded Wozniak to sell it (Peterson 106). Even though that first computer saw very little success, Jobs knew that Apple had potential and so released the Apple II. From the beginning Jobs knew what the consumers wanted, and where computers were going to take the world; he had a vision of the opportunities in technology and saw that Apple needed to move in a different direction. In 1984, one year before he left, Jobs finished the Macintosh computer system. He was pushed from his original computer design project, “the Lisa”, and then raced to release the Mac first, but the Lisa was released to the public first. Although the Lisa came out first, the Mac “[became] synonymous with Apple, mark[ing] a…revolution in…personal computing,” (Peterson 106).
The history of Apple began thirty years ago, when the two friends, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak decided to found their own company for the production and release of computers.
But these two young business men, Wozniak 26 years old and Jobs 21 years old, had a vision. “Computers aren’t for nerds anymore,” they announced. “Computers are going to be the bicycle of the mind. Low cost computers for everyone.”
Steve Wozniak is an interesting man who has created devices at Apple and has become a pilot. On his time out he soon devoted himself to Microsoft and made it his full-time Job. This would help him find the problems and fix them. It would make the company a lot stronger and better. “In 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, two young computer hobbyists from Palo Alto, California, unveiled the prototype for the Apple 1 computer. A local computer dealer saw the Apple 1 and ordered 100 pre-assembled units. Over the next 10 months, about 200 Apple 1’s were sold.” (Musolf).
It all started in the garage of a twenty-something Steve Jobs. He and a friend put what little money they had together ($1300) to make the first computer for Apple, and thus Apple was born. The idea for the first Apple motherboard was made by Jobs while he was on LSD. He was quoted in the New York Times saying, “Taking LSD is one of two or three of the best decisions I have ever made.” Markoff, John. "New York Times." What the Dormouse Said 2005: 3. Steve Jobs talks about his early success when stating, “when I was 23 I had a net worth of over a million dollars, at 24 it was over $10 million, and at 25 it was over $100 million.” Steve Jobs is a true embodiment of what Apple is: unique. Co-founder Steve Wozniak said this about Jobs, “With Steve Jobs you never know exactly where an idea comes from.” This is what Apple is, not conventional and predictable. However, when looking at their marketi...

The first Macintosh was the 128 K released first in 1984. Macintosh was first affordable computer to include a GUI (Graphical User Interface). It was built around the Motorola 6800 chip which was significantly faster than previous processors. It came in a small case with a black and white monitor built- in. It even came with a mouse and keyboard. Big progress from the Apple I which came out in 1976 which included only the circuit board, but here's the real kicker you had to build your own case. Wow!
While Bill Gates was at junior high a group of parents raise money to purchase the first computerized terminal in the school. When that happened he decided to take all his time to work on that system teaming with other students to learn about different operating systems. During senior year in high school, Jobs signed up for an electronics class taught by John McCollum. While in the class in 1969, Jobs met a man named Steve Wozniak, a former graduate of McCollum’s class. Like Jobs, Wozniak was a huge electronics “geek” and the two instantly bonded (Romain Moisescot).
