Steve Wozniak's childhood had a big effect on his revolutionary developments in the computer world. Wozniak grew up in Sunnyvale California. His family lived in a development built for Lockheed engineers like his father. (Rose, 26) As a teenager he w During his high school years, Wozniak was a prankster and was once suspended for placing a metronome disguised as a bomb in a friends locker. (Brodhagen, 1) The more serious side of Wozniak loved electronics and spent one day a week working at Sylvania Electronics, where Wozniak's love for computers grew. Wozniak was working with electronics from an early age.
In 1962 Wozniak built a calculator using a few electronic components and entered it in a local science fair. (Brodhagen, 1) It won him a prize. In 1971 Wozniak and his friend Bill Fernandez built a computer in FernandezÕs garage. (Rose,25-26) They called it t Wozniak decided to go the University of California at Berkeley after he returned from C! olorado State.
While he was there, his mother sent him an article about a mysterious person who called himself ÒCaptain Crunch.Ó (Rose, 27) Crunch would build electronic boxes, known as blue boxes, that mimicked the tones governing telephone company switching equipment. This allowed him to make free long distance phone calls. Apparently Crunch was the leader of an underground group who called themselves the Òphone phreaks.Ó They would use technology to get what they wanted, but they wope by staying one step ahead of the police. Wozniak was extremely interested and called his friend from high school, Steven Jobs. (Rose, 27) They decided to go into business selling them.
Wozniak managed to make one which only used forty dollars worth of parts, instead of the 1,500 dollars it cost Captain Crunch. Wozniak and Jobs then went to college campuses and sold them to dorms for 150 dollars and up. Wozniak became obsessed with ÒphreakingÓ and almost forgot about school. This is!
the first example of WozniakÕs In 1975 personal computers became a reality. The Altair 8800 was released. (Rose, 31) It was a computer kit. It came with all the pieces that were needed to build it, and it was then assembled by the consumer who bought it. It was really designed for computer hobbyists, who loved the fact that they were able to build it. It had its down side though.
Once it was assembled, there wasnÕt much that it could do. The...

Since he tended not to listen to what people say, he didnÕt get discouraged when people told him he was wrong or that he would fail. He just kept on working.
The result of all his work was that the personal computer became a reality. He is one of the greatest men alive. His work effects tens-of-millions of people every In researching this paper I looked in a recent MacMall (a mail order catalog that specializes in selling Apple products) and there were twelve different computers made by Apple. Ranging in price from 499.99 dollars to 4,199 dollars and from ! one that will fit in your pocket to one that will cover your whole desk. Apple also had a wide range of printers, scanners, drives and monitors.
In my phone interview with Jim Harper he summed it up this way: ÒSince 1984 Apple has sold twenty-six million Macintoshes. The Macintosh in your home is more powerful and faster than the computer that put the man on the moon. It all started back in 1976 with Steve WozniakÕs Apple I.Ó Performa User $Ú &
...s urged Steve Wozniak to start a company with him. What would the company’s name be? Jobs once went to India and worked in an apple orchard, so he suggested “Apple” for the name. The both came to agree on the name, and on April fool’s Day, 1976, they officially formed the Apple Computer Company. Steve Wozniak was twenty-six years old, and Steve Jobs was twenty-one. They sold a Volkswagen van and a programmable calculator for $1350 because they needed the money to get the business going. They settled on the garage at Job’s parents’ house to produce the circuit boards.
Steve Jobs was a college dropouts with no big plans. No one would have guessed that him and two of his friends working in a garage would be the beginning of a revolution in the world of technology. The free enterprise system made it possible for Steve Jobs to revolutionize the world with Apple products.
Steve Wozniak has affected the world with his invention of Apple. The first Apple product was sold in 1976 and is now ranking in today as number four with the IPhone 7 on the list of “10 best smart phones in the US”. In discussions of Wozniak, a turning point was in 1976 when Wozniak and his partner Steve Jobs started Apple computers. I believe this point in time was important to me because I will be going and studying business, from then on Wozniak made Apple into a billion-dollar brand. The following points illustrate the importance of this turning point in time. Wozniak started not only his own products but his own business, he knew that people would always need phones and computers so upon inventing the apple I phones and laptops he made them smaller to accommodate for easier access, on top of all that he turned his own business into a billion-dollar company while. Reasons like this is what inspires me to start my own business.

Up to this time, computers were used mostly for large corporations and scientific use. Their vision was to create a ready-to-use computer for personal use. Only about 200 Apple I’s were sold, but when the follow on Apple II came along in the year 1977, consumers latched on and the product sold in the millions. With the Apple II, Jobs and Wozniak changed the way humans view computers. They were the first to show the world that computers could be a consumer item, and with this, the rise in digital consumption really started to take off. In 1984, Apple introduced the first Macintosh – the first mouse driven computer with a graphic interface. Not only was the Macintosh a technological advancement, but at 2500 dollars, it was the cheapest consumer option by far. This shows that at the beginning years of Apple, they were not a company that pushed for overhyped consumption of their products. Their purpose was to supply the average consumer with a groundbreaking product at a price they could afford. Furthermore, in the 1980’s, America had just begun an era of mass consumption. Ronald Reagan was inducted into office, and he immediately made tax cuts to help spurn economic development. People began to consume things like mad. Everything from cars to tv to houses, greed was good in the 1980’s and people would buy things to show status more than ever before. However, the typical computer
He was born with a long family history of business, politics and community services. His grand father was the vice president of a national bank, and his father was a prominent lawyer. Early in life it was obvious that Bill Gates inherited the ambition, intelligence and competitive spirits that helped the rest of his family rise to the top in their chosen professions. In elementary school he quickly surpassed all of his peer's abilities in nearly all subjects, especially in math and science. His parents recognized his intelligence and decided to enroll him in Lakeside, a private school known for its intense academic environment.
He came up with the design for the first real electronic computer with stored programs. He had a dream of a “universal computing machine” that could solve any problem. He collaborated with others to design and build the ACE, or “automatic computing engine”. This machine directly influenced the Bendix G15, the first modern PC. Although he contributed a lot to the ACE, he had a falling out with the company right before its completion, and didn’t get to see his dream become a
Steve Wozniak was a founding computer engineer and programmer of Apple Incorporated and was the main designer and inventor of the Apple I and Apple II computers. Steve Wozniak dropped out of University of California, Berkeley to work on founding Apple and didn’t return to finish his Bachelor’s degree until he was 35 (20 Most Influential Living Computer Scientists 1).
Apple Inc. was established in 1976 in California by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Their goal was supposedly to create an inexpensive and user-friendly computer. On April 1st of 1976, they introduced their first “computer”. It was actually just an enclosed circuit board, which they called the Apple I. Later, the Apple II and the Mac were introduced to the market. These products were designed to be attractive and easily usable by the general public, not just computer hobbyists. With the invention of the Apple II, they developed a compact machine that could produce sound and load programs through devices similar to audio cassette tapes. Throughout the 1970’s, Jobs and Wozniak continued to improve upon the Apple II, with each subsequent version having better graphics, faster processing, and more RAM. Beginning in the 1980s, Apple II computers became the standard for schools and other professional establishments throughout the US. During this time, Apple was busy creating the Mac, Apples “masterpiece”. The Mac, introduced in 1984, was to be for the everyday consumer. A year later, Jobs was kicked out of his own business. For 12 years, Apple suffered. In 1997, Jobs was h...
After school, Steve attended lectures at Hewlett Packard Electronics firm in Palo Alto, CA. There he was hired as a summer employee. Another employee at Hewlett-Packard was Steven Wozniak, a recent drop-out from the University of California, Berkeley. "Woz" was an engineering whiz with a passion for inventing electric gadgets. He worked on perfecting an illegal gadget called "blue Box" that allowed them to get free long distance calls from pay phones. Jobs helped "Woz" to sell a number of "blue boxes".
Steven Wozniak and Steven p. Jobs were friends from high school. Both of them were very much interested in electronics. They both dropped out school and started getting jobs in Silicon Valley, Wozniak for Hewlett-Packard and jobs for Atari. In 1978, for the first time Wozniak design the Apple 1, as he had been dabbling in computer design for some time. Similarly, jobs that had an eye for future asserted that they
With his unique love for technology, Steve Jobs changed the world with his revolutionary innovations, developments, and extremely successful companies. He made communication faster, people’s lives easier, and invented many famous products. Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco, California (Ed. Sheila Dow and Jaime E. Noce). Throughout his high school career, Jobs loved electronics. He was constantly wiring the house with speakers or building frequency counters with his Hewlett-Packard Explorers Club, a group of students who met weekly to learn about what HP was working on. One day the club members took a trip to see firsthand at what HP was developing at the time. That was the day Jobs saw his very first desktop computer (Walter Isaacson 16-17).
On April 1, 1976, Steve Jobs, Stephen Wozniak and Ronald G. Wayne founded a company called Apple Computer. In the following months, they assembled boards of Apple I computers in the Jobses’ garage and sold them to independent computer dealers in the area. Wozniak was a genius in computers, but he could not market their product, raise money, or operate a business the way Jobs could. It was a perfect combination of skills of the two Steves.
This man really took a bite out of the technology industry. Steve Jobs was this man who along with Steve Wozniak founded Apple Computers. Not only was this man an intelligent and innovative thinker, he was the man who created the groundbreaking products that are now “seen as dictating the evolution of modern technology.” (Biography.com Editors, 1) Steve Jobs was a man with a vision who knew he was going to change lives. With that vision he was able to create the most revolutionary companies, focus more on innovating the products rather than the profits, and was able to make products that draw in the consumers. Steve Jobs was the man who revolutionized technology.
In 1964 what started out as machines used for calculating complex problems turned into technology that can be more accessible to the public when Douglas Engelbart shows a prototype of the modern computer, with a mouse and a graphical user interface (GUI). The computer was created to solve a serious number-crunching crisis. By 1880 the U.S. population had grown so large that it took more than seven years to calculate the U.S. Census. The government required a faster way to get the job done, which led to the creation of punch card computers which were as large as an entire room. (livescience) The computer has come a long way in the past 40 years. In 1976 Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak start Apple Computers, but it wouldn't be until 1983 that Apple would release a computer with a GUI(graphical user interface). A GUI uses windows, icons, and text that can be manipulated by a person to communicate to the computer. Two years later Microsoft launched Windows, which is their response to Apple.
