Stereotypes are one of the concepts that we learned about in class and that are something people commonly perceive whether they realize it or not. Stereotypes are a generalization of a race and they oversimplify reality. Common misconceptions involving stereotypes happen all the time when it comes to international business, that’s why it is best to do some research and understand a culture before doing business with them so that you aren’t offending them; the same way we all learned about ecuador’s different aspects such as their educational and economical factors. Stereotypes tend to influence expectations and may be fatal when doing business overseas.

In many circles of the world, various groups of people distinguish themselves from one another through religion, language, culture, and sometimes gender. People also develop stereotypes about a particular group of people in order to identify them. However, most of the time, these stereotypes hold true for only some members of a group. Sometimes, these stereotypes are just plain misconceptions that do not even apply to the group they claim to be. Stereotypes are placed on people because it is a way to easily identify what type of person or ethnicity an individual is.
Stereotypes can be defined as sweeping generalizations about members of a certain race, religion, gender, nationality, or other group. They are made everyday in almost every society. We develop stereotypes when we are unable or unwilling to obtain all the information we would need to make fair judgments about people or situations. By stereotyping, we assume that a person or group has certain characteristics. Quite often, we develop these ideas about people who are members of groups with which we have not had firsthand contact. Stereotyping usually leads to unfair results, such as discrimination, racial profiling, and unnecessary violence, all behaviors which need to be stopped.
In our global economy requiring functional and respectful relationships between nations, prejudice and stereotypes can be a destructive force both in the world and in individual societies, especially in diverse ones.

In our current society, we have a set of stereotypes of how men and women should act and appear which is wrong. For example, in today’s society men are supposedly the only money providers for the family, however this is wrong. In the modern era, stereotypes seem to be the ways people justify and simplify the society. Actually, “[s]tereotypes are one way in which we ‘define’ the world in order to see it” (Heilbroner 373). People often prejudge people or objects with grouping them into the categories or styles they know, and then treat the types with their experiences or just follow what other people usually do, without truly understand what and why. Thus, all that caused miscommunication, argument or losing opportunities to broaden the life experience. Stereotypes are usually formed based on an individual’s appearance, race, and gender that would put labels on people.
This paper is based on an experiment we were asked to conduct in class. It’s based on occupations, and gender. The purpose of this experiment was to preview a list of occupations, and quickly answer male or female to each occupation, and then ask another participant from another culture other than my own to do the same, and compare the similarities or differences in our responses, by explaining any patterns in our responses. To discuss how our differences in our cultural backgrounds affect our perceptions on the gender roles of those occupations, and provide research on how to minimize future stereotyping within organizations.
To conduct this study, the best approach to do so would be by a combination of quantitation and qualitative method, in which the study will focuses on how commonly do racial group and which generation such as; the baby boomer and millennial uses the most stereotypes. I would choose to use survey research as well as for observation, in order to study what age group uses these racial stereotypes. By using the survey research, it will help reveal whether or not a certain generation is the reason why racial stereotypes is a big issue in today’s society, by the response they provided in the survey. As well as for observation, which take a look at and record the behavior of those individual in a structured way, the observation can target either
