Intro

Have you ever looked up at the sky and wondered why were are here in this very spot in space? If you're anything like the brilliant and curious mind of Stephen Hawking, then you have. He has always wanted to find the mysteries of space and the physics of our universe. But if his achievements aren't already astonishing, he also has a disease called ALS. Through his disabilities, Stephen Hawking has affected and discovered many new facts and theories about Black Holes, space and our universe that continue to impact researchers and knowledge today.

Stephen Hawking has not only affected the world of science and space but given people with ALS or other disabilities hope that they can still learn and affect the world. His achievements are even more amazing

considering that he was diagnosed with ALS when he was 21. It was predicted that he wouldn’t even see his 25th birthday, but he is now 74 years old. He is the oldest patient by 35 years and is still living to this day. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, affects nerves in the brain and spine. He is unable to feed himself or stand up on his own. He had an operation in 1985 due to pneumonia, but unfortunately lost his ability to speak soon after. Thankfully a computer program called “Equalizer,” was connected to his wheelchair which has drastically improved his ability to communicate. First he was able to type with his hands, but later lost feeling in his fingers. So now he able to use the remaining face muscles that he can still use to activate move the sensor attached to his ear and cheek. Other than working through his disabilities, Dr. Hawking’s discoveries about black holes and the big bang have affected this decade by figuring out how the universe started and has impacted billions of people. But still to this day the disease is progressively getting worse and there is nothing the doctors can do. But thankfully it is not stopping him from achieving his goals.
What has Stephen Hawking done that is good (Second Paragraph)
Stephen hawking has discovered many things about space and the world we live in that most people can’t even imagine. One of his best known discoveries is the big bang. Roger Penrose and Stephen Hawking used Einstein’s theory of gravity which is, “points where spacetime appeared to be infinitely curved,” and then compared it to the entire universe. This theory is now known as the Big Bang which is a possibility of how the universe started. This discovery not only affected millions of people, but a whole new viewpoint on the universe for scientists. Dr. Hawking not only focuses on the big bang, has created many books and essays too. One of his best selling books being “A Brief History of Time.” This 1988 best-selling book It is about the mysteries and the physics of space. This book sold millions of copies and shattered the record for best selling copies in the history of science writing. It became a huge hit along with his other several books and series throughout 1993 and 2009. These great achievements have gained Dr. Stephen the fame and respect he has today.

Major events and movements (Third Paragraph)
Stephen Hawking has made many new space discoveries and social/economic movements that will change how scientists see the world forever.

Not only has he made many discoveries that will save the world millions of dollars, but he has also gained fame and money off of his books and essays. Stephen Hawking, along with other great scientists such as Roger Penrose have written many successful books. Other than writing books, he has appeared in 6 films, not even mentioning all the commercials and advertisements he has been in. Dr. Hawking has also made many new space discoveries that most scientists would not be able to believe. Throughout his successful career 5 out of the 16 awards he have received are the Pius XI Gold Medal for Science, the Hughes Medal, Albert Einstein Award, Copley Medal of the Royal Society and the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom. Stephen Hawking, unlike many people, wants to understand and find the mysteries of the world. One of his biggest accomplishments was being rewarded with the Lucasian Professorship chair in mathematics. Once held by Isaac Newton at the University of Cambridge. He has inspired thousands of people to work through their struggles and achieve

greatness.

Conclusion Considering his disabilities Stephen Hawking has worked through his struggles and given people hope while also accomplishing his goals and impacting the world tremendously. Without his brilliant mind we might now have the knowledge of black holes of the universe that we do today.
