“Where do we come from? How did the universe begin? Why is the universe the way it is? How will it end?” This quote by Stephen Hawking, a physicist famous for his work in theoretical physics, illustrates his fascination with the universe. Hawking has been known for the development of theories about the universe, including his work on black holes and theories on the origins of the cosmos. Aside from his amazing discoveries, Hawking has a unique personal story. (Stephen Hawking's Universe) He was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a debilitating neurological disease that affects muscle control, must use a wheelchair and has to speak through a computer and voice synthesizer. Despite his physical limitations and difficulties communicating, Hawking’s research and discoveries in the field of physics have been compared to those of Albert Einstein. His ultimate goal - the understanding of the universe in its entirety – has led to many major ideas. Two of his very fascinating discoveries were the Hawking radiation and the Unified Field Theory.
Hawking first started studying cosmology in graduate school at Cambridge University. He achieved his doctorate degree in 1966, and made his first major contribution to the field of physics with his idea of singularity. “A singularity is a place in either space or time at which some quantity becomes infinite (without an end). Such a place is found in a black hole, the final stage of a collapsed star, where the gravitational field has infinite strength.” (Stephen Hawking Biography - Life, Children, History, School, Young, Son, Book, Information, Born, House, Marriage). Hawking became very interested in black holes which was the most known singularity. He placed particular f...

...providing information about the beginnings of the universe. Despite his physical limitations, and the presence of a very serious and debilitating condition, Hawking has become one of the premier physicists of our time. Many have stated that he is the greatest mind in physics since Albert Einstein. Hawking’s numerous publications, including A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes, Black Holes and Baby Universes, and The Nature of Space and Time, are well- respected within the scientific community, and his outstanding work in modern cosmology and physics is widely recognized. Stephen Hawking continues his research in the universe, and when asked about his future goals, Hawking was quoted as saying, “My goal is complete understanding of the universe, why it is, and why it exists at all.” A noble and lofty goal from a truly inspirational person.
The origins of the super-massive black holes which concludes how they were formed and what caused them to form is an unsolved problem which is yet a mystery of astrophysics. ( Millis 2014)
Black holes were originally thought to have only mere mathematical concepts. There was seemingly no possible way to compress any object into a space small enough to equal to its schwarzschild radius. Later however, astronomer Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar calculated that stars much larger than our own sun should theoretically be able to collapse into a black hole (UTFC). A star is like a blown up balloon with the force of gravity trying to compress the balloon inwards and the air trying to push the balloon outwards. Likewise, stars are held in balance by gravity trying to collapse the star inwards going against the outwards pressure of the internal reactions of the star called nuclear fusion.
Hawking is still alive and has been living with his disease for fifty-two years now (“Stephen Hawking Biography”, n.d.). In doing research as to how Hawking has been able to live so long with this disease, I came to the conclusion that there is not a reason. An article written by Terrence McCoy (2015) in the Washington Post described his lengthy life as “extraordinary” and “extremely rare”. This is further indication that his interminable existence is supported by pure luck. What an incredible coincidence that such an important man was able to withstand the consequences of a highly fatal disease. Stephen Hawking, the Hawking family, and the rest of the world are, whether they know it or not, thankful for this one man’s extreme luck. His contributions to scientific knowledge and his perseverance will be forever
In the 1970’s, Stephen Hawking made the argument that the quantum-mechanical effects of black holes made them emit radiation
reality normally consists of two parts: a) A set of local laws that are obeyed
Since his birth, Albert Einstein has had the most beneficial effects on the events of the world. Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany on March 14, 1979 and as a boy displayed an unquenchable curiosity for understanding science and all of its mysteries. As Albert Einstein’s life progressed, he found himself working as a patent clerk in Bern. While working as a patent clerk in Bern, Albert Einstein had a plethora amount of time which was devoted to formulating his theories. Also during this time, Albert Einstein received his Doctorate degree and started working on one of his most influential papers, which was the Special Theory of Relativity. After Einstein completed his Special Theory of Relativity, he moved onto creating the General Theory of Relativity which earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921. With the creation of both the General Theory of Relativity and the Special Theory of Relativity, Einstein was able to create his Theory of Relativity which comprises of both theories. Other scientific discoveries that Einstein made are the existence of the photon, the theory of Brownian motion, the concept of Mass-energy equivalence, the photoelectric effect, the first quantum theory of specific heats, the Einstein-Brilloui-Keller method for finding the quantum mechanical version of a classical system , Bose-Einstein statistics and Bose-Einstein condensates, the EPR paradox, and although his efforts were unsuccessful, in his last thirty years of life Einstein explored various classical unified field theories that could account for both electromagnetism and gravitation and possibly quantum mechanics.
Stephen Robert Irwin was born in Essendon, Victoria on February the 22nd, 1962. He spent his early childhood living in the Upper Fern Tree Gully area. When Steve was eight years of age his parents -Robert and Lynette, his two sisters - Joy and Mandy moved to Beerwah, a rural town in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast Region. Moving to the Sunshine Coast as a young boy was a big deal for Steve, and it was here that his parents established the “Beerwah Reptile and Fauna Park” in the year 1970. This meant Steve had Australia’s most native wildlife in his own backyard.

Black holes were predicted by Einstein's theory of general relativity. According to Space.com “In 1905, Albert Einstein determined that the laws of physics are the same for all non-accelerating observers, and that the speed of light in a vacuum was independent of the motion of all observers. This was the theory of special relativity. It introduced a new framework for all of physics and proposed new concepts of space and time. Einstein then spent ten years trying to include acceleration in the theory and published his theory of general relativity in 1915. In it, he determined that massive objects cause a distortion in space-time, which is felt as gravity.”
With Suzuki’s outstanding intellect, he has achieved numerous numbers of high honours in Canada. In 1976, David Suzuki was awarded the ‘Order of Canada.’ It is a grant in ‘recognition to the highest degree of exceptional contribution to Canada and humanity.’ Specifically, Suzuki was awarded this award for proposing many alternatives to remedy Canada’s environment through his research. ‘In 1995, he was honored with the ‘Order of British Columbia,’ which is a civilian honour of excellence in the province of British Columbia in honor to its residents for their prominent accomplishments in any field. As referred earlier, Suzuki has done a lot for people in British Columbia such as encouraging youth to pursue science research and helping out minorities
Michael Scofield is one of the main characters of the former hit FOX show “Prison Break”. His brother Lincoln Burrows was step-up for the “so called” murder of the then Vice President Caroline Reynolds brother Terrence Steadman. This proves to be a massive conspiracy. The group behind all this is called “The Company”. They call all the shots this country makes.
Einstein himself, working at Princeton with Nathan Rosen had discovered that the equations of relativity actually represent a black hole as a bridge between two regions of flat space-time, a phenomenon known as the “Einstein-Rosen Bridge”. Later on, in 1963, the New Zealand mathematician Roy Kerr found that if a black hole is rotating, a singularity still forms, but in the form of a ring, not a point. It was believed that in principle, a particle may be able to fall towards the singularity, but if at some point moved through the hole instead of the ring, the particle may not be lost forever. Therefore, with these theories in mind, a particle falling into a black hole will fall through the ring that the singularity has become, then going through the Einstein-Rosen Bridge, eventually being spewed out of the white hole into another space-time continuum.
For this case study, I chose one of my favorite movies called „Enter The Void“. Enter the void is an English speaking, french drama written and directed by Gaspar Noe. The main actors in this movie are Nathaniel Brown, Paz de la Huerta, and Cyril Roy. As labeled by the director Gaspar Noe the film is an „psychodelic melodrama“. The film is shot from a first person view, occasionally the camera would float above the city or be positioned over the shoulder of the main actor as he recalls certain moments from his past.
Black holes have been one of the most difficult challenges for astronomers and scientist for many years. I think with new technology that astronomers will be able to gather more information that can offer more insight into the world of black holes. There are many unanswered questions that could possibly lead to a better understanding of how Earth was created. It could also lead to more information on different galaxies and any similarities they may have to our own. The universe is so vast and we may never find the answers to some questions, but it is a worthy task to try and find out all we can about our existence.
Next to cosmology, Hawking is one of many physicists who are seeking out a flawless theory of Quantum Gravity. This topic is listed under the "Stephen Hawking" Wikipedia entry as one of Hawking's primary fields of research.
