There has always been the age old question, “What does true success mean to you?” For many centuries, everybody has given their own definition of success. Whether it is money, happiness, love, or power, everybody has their own definition of success. Stephen Covey, a popular author, once said, “If you carefully consider what you want to be said of you in the funeral experience, you will find your definition of success.” I believe that everybody has to realize what real success means to you. Everybody has aspirations for their life, and coming to terms with those aspirations can set one up for successful life. For past centuries, and still today, success has always been associated with how much money and power you have. When googling the definition of success, the definition, “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose” pulled up, and I have got to say that I agree with it. Success can’t be defined as few things such as money and power but instead reaching your purpose in life. I perceive success as an individual realization process that comes to one through hard work, perseverance, and living the happiest life you can live. Success is about learning from the process, finding balance, making a difference, and living the best life that you can live. …show more content…
Balance in your job, relationships, and even in what you eat are crucial for living the best life you can live, and is a stepping stone to true success. Ariana Huffington, the founder of Huffington Post, said, “To live the lives we truly want and deserve, and not just the lives we settle for, we need a third metric; a third measure of success that goes beyond the two metrics of money and power, and consists of well-being, wisdom, wonder, and giving.” By saying this, Ariana points out that success is a balance between power and money, but most importantly, well-being and happiness. Success can be defined as power and money, but true success is adding in
Success can be an extremely broad subject. There is an abounding amount of different views on what the “true” definition of success is. Personally, I believe that success is finding happiness. Success is waking up in the morning and not having to worry about whether or not the bills are going to be paid this month. Success is having a job that you enjoy going to every day. Success is having friends and family who love and support you. Success does not mean that one has to be exceedingly rich or have a lakeside mansion. As long as they are happy, they have succeeded in life.
´´ If one advances confident in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. ’’ These words were spoken by Henry David Thoreau.Success is within the mind of the individual. A large portion of one´s life is spent working to become successful. People are told throughout childhood to work hard so they can grow up and achieve all of their dreams. But success takes many different forms. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. It does not matter how related they are to each other in certain áreas they always have a different point of view of what success really is. For some success is measured by social status and wealth
Success is not earning a fat juicy check at the end of each month, or being a part of a large social group filled with fraudulent people that appear as familiar faces. But it is a person discovering him or herself after they had been lost and establishing a sense of purpose that makes them fills them with a warm glowing sense of accomplishment. Success does not have one transparent definition, it has various meanings depending on what success means to the individual trying to achieve it. Success is surviving.
For a long time, the popular myth of success and that of gender have shaped humans’ minds and behaviors in a certain way. They set up a certain behavior model and provide people with an idealized reference for living their lives. However, people put too much emphasis on the bright side of these two widespread but outdated beliefs, and surround themselves in ideal images constructed by the myths. With humans and society marching on, the age-old and deep-rooted myths are not completely suitable anymore. The old fashioned myths have become certain clichés. They sometimes conceal important social realities and convey a false image of what people really think and do. The dissonance between myth and reality sometimes disillusions people and may bring worse outcomes to the society. Wayne Dyer, an internationally renowned author declares, “What we think determines what happens to us, so if we want to change our lives, we need to stretch our minds.” Although part of the myths is still valuable and instructive, in order to make them more tenable, people need to be cautious and critical and be aware of their weakness. Success should be defined not only by wealth and reputation, as the current myth states, but also by personal happiness, which can be achieved through the combination of honesty, hard work, opportunities and s...
Every man, woman, and child stands upon an intricate scale. A scale that if balanced, can lead to happiness and success, but if tilted, can lead the person spiralling out of control. There are many aspects to this scale, money, friendship, and love, just to name a few. It is this balance between the many aspects in a person’s life that leads a person to fulfillment. It is the perceived winners of society that have a heavily tilted scale, and the perceived losers that have a more balanced one, which is why sometimes the perceived losers are actually, the winners.
However, I define success as achieving any goal, no matter how big or small it is. Success encourages people to achieve anything they set their minds on. It can be as small as getting an A on a test or as big as being a billionaire. In dealing with success, the sky is truly the limit. Therefore, success should be accounted for anything one does. Additionally, I also define success as being satisfied in life. Success ultimately brings fulfillment to our friends, our family, and ourselves. Achieving our goals brings great gratification into our lives, which everyone strives to receive. Therefore, success is achieving any goal and being content in

I want to tell you the most interesting story in the world; Why a person becomes the person he becomes. Why a little boy or little girl grows up to be the kind of person he or she becomes. Now the estimates, by the experts in this field, are that most of us are using somewhere around 5% of our real potential. Some experts say as little as 1%. It means we are only giving about 5% of ourselves to what we are doing, to our days, our work, our families, everyone we know, our entire environment. But it also means we are only experiencing about 5% of the fun. 5% of the joy. 5% of the rewards we could be knowing, or less.
The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. Success can be defined in many ways including: wealth, happiness, fame, etc. Success can be anything from material goods to concepts. It all depends on your concept and how you achieve your goals. You have to have persistence within yourself. Varying on your profession, you will need a certain skill level. Your definition of success can be suitable best for you, but not for others. It is about truly not giving up, reaching your full potential, and self-fulfillment.
Is there someone you know that is wealthy and prominent? Do they demonstrate the characteristics of a successful person in today’s society? Media today has effectively convinced our society into accepting an untrue, even possibly hazardous definition of success. Even though Webster’s dictionary defines success as “achieving wealth, respect, and fame,” the definition of success is different for everyone. Society wants us to accept that having money, having big house, and owning multiple cars is the key to happiness, and henceforth, success. This is a lie; success is not having a large amount of money nor does it have to deal with fame.
There are many different answers to what success is this is due to the diversity that we as people have. We are exposed to different things throughout life that allow us to determine what success truly means to us. We might not experience the same things and we might not feel the same way about certain subject, but in the end we all want to reach the ultimate goal of being successful. Success to me is reaching enlightenment and making a difference in the quality of your life as well as the life people live. Being raised with a different mindset from others have influenced what success means to me.
Success may be defined in many ways by many people. According to Oxford English Dictionary, it is, “the prosperous achievement of something attempted.”(“Success”). That is, if one achieve his/her desire or goals, it would be considered as his/her success. But it is true that the definition and explanation varies according to the eye of beholder. Generally, Success means fulfilling the goals that you set for your life. For some, success may be money, big house and a luxury car. However, for others, success may be the happiness they feel after achieving their goal. I personally feel, success is not what is accomplished, but what is felt from
Success, by definition, it means to achieve a goal or purpose. To some, success might be popularity, or even getting a raise at their job; but to me, success is more about how you live. At first this statement might confuse a person, but then if one digs deeper into this response they’ll find something greater. This “something greater” is certainly not anything materialistic, rather someone’s spiritual faith and their happiness in what they do.
Success is something we all wish to achieve and even though we have different definitions of success, we all want to success in different aspects of our lives. For some success, success is attaining an education, others it's getting a good job, for others it's being wealthy, and others to start and own a business while for others it's having a family of our own and seeing our children prosper. We all have different metrics of measuring success and we all have different goals, but it is part of human instinct to want success, to want to succeed in everything we do no matter how small or big. Success gives us a feeling of development and growth, a sense of gratification that we are no longer where we used to be, but rather
