September 24, 2016 College Reflection Essay
College.... should I or shouldn’t I? Location ? Major? These are all things that play a huge role in decision making. Searching for these answers, inspired me to pick Stephanie Williams as my interviewee. This assignment expands on the argument behind the minds of people who have been to college and have finished or who have been to college and have not finished. The main reason I chose Ms.Williams is because I can relate to her thought process when she was applying for college ultimately making the big picture we call life, a little more clear .
Stephanie Veiga (now Williams) was born in the suburbs

However, quickly cultivated a liking towards architecture while working at a multidisciplinary design firm. Eventually, transferring over to New York Institute of Technology, School of Architecture. By her making this decision she change the course of the events in her life completely from the people she met to the opportunities she received
There are many things that Stephanie is proud of, such as reaching new heights and unlocking unknown abilities in her talent. For example, a year after she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, she participated in the 99K House Competition where she and a former classmate/coworker, designed a 1400 sqft, sustainable house. She considered this collaboration one of many significant achievements in her life. Along with accomplishing her dream of buying a house in Brooklyn, which was only possible after working full time job at a design firm that she started immediately after graduation.
Stephanie now holds an intermediate position as a job captain. Daily tasks include: coordinating all aspects of a design project, producing construction drawings and acting as a vessel between the client and the contractor to bring ideas from paper to reality. She suggested doing a lot of research and comparing the pros and cons of each of school and/or degree program. Although she has no regrets one thing she wished she considered was the financial burden that private school student loans has had on her life. Going to a CUNY school may have cost less money and economic stress.
Despite being married today, Stephanie's mother insisted that she be an independent woman and getting a college was crucial for her success. After watching her mother struggle as a single housewife, her dreams of a brighter future influenced her to go to college. Till this day, that same mentality resonates with every choice she makes.
Admitting to the fact that school was hard, Stephanie found creative and social outlets throughout college and even after college. If it wasn't for her networking with certain people and becoming acquainted with them she would have never found the love of her life, who shares a passion for construction and interior design. Both have attained a lot of business together due their ability to be compatible and work efficiently. All in all, Stephanie took her major and applied to every aspect in her
Her overarching thesis or focus is to explore the advantages and disadvantages of college worthiness for her intended audience that consists of current college students who may want concrete evidence that college may or not be worth going to.
Mary Bryant was in the group of the first convicts (and the only female convict) to ever escape from the Australian shores. Mary escaped from a penal colony which often is a remote place to escape from and is a place for prisoners to be separated. The fact that Bryant escaped from Australia suggests that she was a very courageous person, this was a trait most convicts seemed to loose once they were sentenced to transportation. This made her unique using the convicts.
At any point in time, someone’s world can be turned upside down by an unthinkable horror in a matter of seconds. On June 20th, 2001 in a small, suburban household in Houston, TX, Andrea Yates drowned her five children in a bathtub after her husband left for work. The crime is unimaginable, yes, but the history leading up to the crime is just as important to the story. Andrea Yates childhood, adulthood, and medical history are all potent pieces of knowledge necessary to understanding the crime she committed.
What is it like to live a life with Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD)? Narcissism is a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy. People with this disorder can be vindictive, selfish, cunning person. They do not care who is harmed or hurt. Abigail was the leader of all of the girls that were seen dancing and calling on evil spirits. Abigail would threaten the girls by saying if they said anything, she would kill or harm them severely. She wanted what she couldn’t have, so that made her psychologically unstable. Abigail William’s would be convicted in today’s court because she gave many threats to kill the girls who were with her the night they were dancing if they spoke up in court, her behavior caused harm to many even though she may not have physically done damage herself and due to previous court cases, some people diagnosed with Narcissism were found innocent due to their mental instability but others were guilty because they were mentally unstable. As it is shown, Narcissistic Personality Disorder causes her to be selfish, arrogant, dangerous, and obsess over the man she could not have, because Abigail threatened the girls she was with the night they were dancing, to not confess to anything in court.
For a long time, women’s potential in Science was little to none. However, over the years, it has now changed because of the outstanding breakthroughs and encouraging accomplishments women have done through the years. It is because of them, women’s potential in Science and other realms of studies has now evolved with more understandings and discoveries. It is for the reason of Maria Mitchell, one of the first female astronomers to be recognized in Science, that women’s potential were essentially respected. Her discoveries during her time as a student, a teacher, and an astronomer paved the way for many others, not just in Science, but also for woman’s rights and potential to be seen.

... dollars aside from now until your future children determine if they would like to attend college or not. Is the ten dollars a week going to be worth it and are you going to be done paying for your college education as well? In the article, “America’s Most Overrated Product: The Bachelor’s Degree”, author Marty Nemko informs readers on aspects that are not commonly considered when pursuing higher education. Encourage that child to explore all of their options and inform them on not only the positive things you acquired from experiencing higher education, but the hidden down falls you dealt with like managing work loads and paying off debts. A student should be passionate about what they are learning and although it may not be in a classroom setting, sometimes choosing the path less traveled and not attending college can be the most rewarding experience known to man.
“I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship”-Louisa May Alcott. Captured by Comanche Indians around age eight, Cynthia Ann Parker was a white girl with an Indian spirit and lots of perseverance. She not only was a survivor and a witness of the Comanche raid on Fort Parker in May of 1836 but also became the chief’s wife. Cynthia Ann Parker is a well-known, accomplished woman in Texas History.
Juanita is constantly questioning her decision to pursue her degree whether it’s questioning if the decision is selfish since her children will be college age soon or if she can even be a decent mental health professional. Juanita needs to address her lingering feelings of doubt in order to feel secure in her own self-image and develop a realistic knowledge of her strengths and weaknesses so she can focus on fulfilling her potential without being held back with feelings of inadequacy (Schultz & Schultz, 2013, p.

I believe that this is the correct program for me and I hope that this program will help me foster and develop my creative talents further and become the person I want to be, an architect that leaves an impact on the world. I realize now the power that architecture has and the role it plays in shaping lives as I have seen it shape mine through studying it, and so now I would like to continue my education, so that I can take the necessary steps forward to fulfilling what I want to do in my architectural
To an architect building something with structure is part of the job, but how does structure apply to the average person? Two women an entire ocean apart may not be as different as one would think. The characters of Jane and Antoinette are strikingly similar for how different their backgrounds were. Both women had similar childhoods plagued by many of the same problems. The true difference comes in their late teen years.
Here I sit five years later, at the age of seventeen dreaming of becoming an architect. If it wasn’t for that specific day I don’t know if I would ever have realized one of the reasons I hoped to become an architect. I want to be an architect for many reasons, but I am very driven to in order to break that gender stereotype of boys being architects. I wish that when I was sitting in that chair next to seven boys, listening to a male architect tell me about his job that I would have remembered that society does not tell me what I can and can’t do. If you have a passion for something and you put your mind to it, you can achieve it. I will always remember this lesson throughout my future. I don’t want my children to have to be scared to be who they are because of what society believes is
Then apply for a Masters Degree in Architecture and find an internship along the way. Architecture program graduates are needed by the Oregon Board of Architect Examiners (OBAE) to complete the Internal Development Program under the supervision of a practicing, licensed architect. These internships can either be planned and approved directly by an architectural office or through a network of personal contacts. After completing the required hours for the internship, the person must take the Architectural Admission Exam offered by OBAE. The person will attend an oral interview and after the written part of the exam is completed, the members of the Oregon Board of Architects will interview the candidates for
