I would want to be a Physical Therapist Assistant because it only takes 2 years unlike being a Physical Therapist which takes 4 or more years. I am the type of person who can’t wait to get out into the world and start working. So going to college for almost the quarter of the time would be an excellent choice for me. Also if I only go for 2 years the tuition cost is lower and with the tuition being lower that would be less loans for me to pay back. A Physical Therapist Assistant is allowed more time for work and family commitments unlike Physical Therapist where they work more hours. The program at Lake Area Technical Institute would be a perfect college for me to go to because of the location, its good reputation, and has more hands on learning.
The location of LATI is close to home so it would be great in case I ever have an emergency. LATI is geared toward my learning style. It has more hands on learning which helps me understand the most. Lastly, LATI has been known to have one of the best PTA programs in the US. Everything about the profession and the college is perfect for what I want in my future.
I am interested in pursuing the Physician Assistant (PA) degree because of my experiences both within the medical field and as a patient. These experiences have led me to believe that a team approach to patient-centered medicine provides the best and most comprehensive care possible. Further, the PA profession offers me the opportunity to continue my lifelong passion of helping others, giving back to my community, and provides me with further opportunities to teach.
Therefore, the decision is decided based on a student wanting eight years of college, tons of paperwork, and the liability. If he has the patience and dedication, he is capable of being a physical therapist. Once I learned about eight years of college and tons of paperwork, my decision changed. With others it can be different. I think the best part about physical therapy is helping people getting back on their feet, but I think the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. Others might think differently.
I have learned a lot between these two careers through this researcher paper that I have a better understanding what interest me more. I believe physical therapy is more relaxed and calm environment for my patients and me. Some physical therapist has crazy work hours but most of them have regular 5 to 9 hours and come home to family members who worked in this particular field one became a respiratory therapist and the other is still in school working on her Doctor of Physical Therapy. They both tell me that they love their jobs. In a personal interview with my cousin Hayley Bayne Told me "It's a wonderful feeling to work with my others. I enjoy the challenge of keeping them motivated and I am always doing something different everyday" (Bayne). This job also has a lot of perks depending on where or what field you want to work in. Besides keeping in shape, if I decided to do physical therapy in the sports field there is a very good chance that I can meet all sorts of famous athletes. A physical therapist treats patients that are suffering from physical injuries or disabilities by use of properties such as exercise, heat, water, electricity, and massages. The physical therapist evaluates clients and chooses a type of programming depending on the results of their evaluation. Reviewing results from job search engines will be an excellent way to observe the range of positions in the field with varied work environments and
I stated earlier the one thing I was certain about what I wanted in my career choice was to be able to help people in some sort of way. Being a physical therapist would allow me to do exactly
It is just dependant on if the good outweighs the bad. In this case, the good definitely outweighs the bad. Being a physical therapist has its major pros, but also cons. When one is looking into a career field, one of the first things they may look at is the salary. Physical therapists make on average about eighty-one thousand dollars per year. Of course, that depends on years of experience, level of education, and such factors. Another pro is an increase in job opportunities. In a world where technology is constantly getting better and smarter, people's jobs are getting taken away by machines that can do the task faster and better. Luckily, physical therapy is not something that can be done by a robot. So, there is always going to be a demand for physical therapists which makes it easier to find a job. A final pro is that you can gain knowledge on health and science. This is big because an education can get you anywhere and knowledge is the most powerful weapon anyone could ever have because it can get you so far and nobody can take it away from you. Of course like any other job, it can come with its cons or bad side. But, it is up to you whether or not you will let that affect you and your practice. There are very few people who enjoy going to school. If you do not, physical therapy is not
Educational requirements, opportunities and general demands of the career are only a few of the areas to inquire about in the field of physical therapy. This career is diverse in nature, in that a therapist sees many different ailments ranging from a sprained ankle to rehabilitating someone who has had an amputation. There is a fair degree of difficulty involved in becoming a physical therapist, and due to the high competition involved in entering the various Master’s degree programs as stated earlier, high grades and a positive attitude are very important for success in an interested student’s career. Volunteering is a great way to find out if a person would or would not be interested in entering the practice of physical therapy. This is an exciting career with many opportunities for advancement. This career is also a nice choice for those who become bored with the tedious monotony of a daily routine, since each day is a new experience.
My interest in physical therapy was by a complete coincidence when researching numerous types of physical therapy facilities for my brother, who needed PT after an accident that involved his leg. Up to that moment, I had no direction in life and did not know what career to pursue. This was evident in my grades, but also in my occupations after I dropped out of school, resulting into one dead-end job after another. I was instilled early in life that no matter what type of work I was in, I need to be a professional and give it my best. “Never give anyone a reason to talk bad about you and your work, so you must be sure that your quality of work is impeccable,” was what my Father would tell as I entered the work force. In following my fathers’ advice, I would be hired and within
I’ve always want to be something in the medical field since I was younger, but physical therapy never came across my mind until I was told by a friends mom that it was something she could see me being very good at. Ever since then I’ve been interested in it. Physical therapist think of and follow through with treatment plans for people who are injured or have an illness to help them move better, increase their strength, and/or relieve pain. I think I would be a good fit for this job because I enjoy working with people and I am very patient with people.
I have been exposed to the medical field my whole life. My Mom was a nurse and I would love to listen to the stories she told about her time in the hospital. If anybody asked me at the age of five what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would say “a nurse like my mom.” A few years later I decided I wanted to be a doctor from the few times I got to watch the television show “ER”. The beginning of my interest in physical therapy was when I met my fourth grade pen pal, Elmo, at a nursing home. Elmo had muscular dystrophy and only retained control of his right arm and pinky which allowed him to manouver his wheelchair. During one visit where we got to spend the whole day with our pals, the physical therapist at the nursing home came to see Elmo. I was allowed to stay and I remember thinking it was so cool that there was one person to help Elmo retain the little muscle tone and mobility he had left. In sixth grade, my class went to the hospital to sing Christmas caroles and I remember the coolest place being the physical therapy room. I thought it was amazing how patients were learning to walk again or throw a ball.
My motivations in life have always been centered on my desire to maintain independence and happiness. My passions for physical therapy and health originated from those same motivations. Throughout my childhood, I repeatedly found myself in tough situations that required a level of self -dependency and perseverance that I don’t believe many young minds possess. My parents’ divorce put my life on a trajectory that could have easily been destructive. As a young girl, I realized that despite the lack of control I felt in my hardships growing up, I had control over my academic and future successes. I vowed that I would remember the struggles I faced and concentrate my energy on creating a better life for myself. To this day, it is important to me
I will probably live in a larger city and that would mean that there would be multiple places to pursue a career in Physical Therapy as there is a wide range of places to work. I would prefer to work in a hospital setting where I would be able to see a mix of patients from children to the elderly. I would also not mind having my own office and working with only one or two other Physical Therapists. If I were to not pursue a career in Physical Therapy I have a few backup options. My first choice would be a Physician Assistant. While it still requires a lot of schooling I believe I would still like to do something involved with people and I believe I would be able to help people with this occupation. That occupation would also allow me to support my family very well. Another occupation I would enjoy doing would be is an orthopedic surgeon. One of the main reasons it is not my number one option is because of all the extra schooling it has compared to Physical Therapy. The bright side is I would be able to easily support my family with that occupation. The last occupation that I would consider would be an allergist. I think I would enjoy being an allergist, because much like a doctor, I would be able to find out why they are suffering their problems, and I would be able to prescribe things to alleviate their
The career I have chose is Physical Therapy(PT). Physical Therapist do many different things, but their main function is to help impaired or physically disabled people enhance their movement and handle their pain. Physical Therapist are a main source in the rehabilitation, medical care and prevention of people with long lasting illnesses or damage. The reason I chose this career is because I love helping people and enjoy seeing people be motivated and succeed at their task. To help someone gain full strength in their limbs or maybe even learn how to walk again is my lifelong dream. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career
The profession I will be going over is going to be Physical therapy. I will give you an overview of the job and that will consist of what they do, how much they get paid, and different types of conditions and symptoms.
Occupational Therapy as a career has been a dream of mine for a long time. My first experience within the field of occupational therapy was when I was fifteen years old. My grandma, whom I am very close to, experienced a stroke. I made numerous trips to the hospital to visit her and was offered the opportunity to accompany her in many therapy sessions. I eagerly accepted this opportunity to gain an experience in occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy. Following my grandma’s rehabilitation sessions, occupational therapy stood out to me the most. During one of her therapy sessions, while working on kitchen safety, the occupational therapist gave my grandma the opportunity to choose what she would like to make. My grandma chose
I am excited to express my interest in the Administrative Assistant III position at Rogue Community College within the Allied Health department. I am confident that my experiences in office administration, customer service, and strength in building relationships with others make me an excellent match for this position.
