The honors college would provide me opportunities to continue my extra curricular activities in a small group of students like a family. It will satisfy my curiousity to explore learning opportunities outside the class room. Having a personal mentor to schedule the classes will also help me to select the right classes at the right time. My contribution to the interdisciplinary learning community would be continuation of my high school activities such as Hack Club and Google Apprenticeship. I took the initiative to start the Hack Club at my school in association with hackclub.com. Hack Club activities keep me at the cutting edge of the latest coding trends; they’ve also provided me with the opportunity to mentor other students with little
During 2017, the fall of my senior year, we held elections for National Honor Society President. I was one of the members selected and later got elected into the position. This position has taught me the importance of quality leadership in order for the success of a program along with how to prioritize my time and stay organized while helping to engage members to enable them to be the best people they can be. Throughout my months as president, I have contributed experience, advice, and leadership alongside hours and hours of time put into an array of projects benefiting both the school and the community as a whole. Experiencing this event which has influenced both my leadership and service to my community has influenced my future plans through
Some of my extracurricular activities include Science Olympiad, STEM Academy, International Club, Advanced Academics Club, and Chem Club. During high school I have participated in various community-based organizations, the two most common being Beta Club and National Honor Society. However while these clubs have allowed me to give back to my community in numerous ways, it was strangely not either of these clubs that expanded my interest in the following particular social issue. Rather it was my involvement in Science Olympiad, specifically volunteering to help run a local Elementary school tournament, that expanded my view of the STEM field.
Since my school does not directly prioritize STEM-associated extracurricular activities, I believe that IMSA will help me achieve the goals that I seek in these fields. At IMSA, with peers that excel in these fields, we will challenge each other to become better than we are already and create new connections and friendships in IMSA’s welcoming
Personal Statement Name: Xi Xiong Personal Statement After graduating from Stony Brook University with a degree in Business Management-Marketing specialization in May 2015, I would like to join New York University as a postgraduate student to further my studies by pursuing the Master of Integrated Marketing course offered in the institution. I am convinced that my academic performance as an undergraduate and my work experience in general demonstrates my ability to undertake the Master Degree and all that appertains to its award and graduate within the required time. One of my career objectives is to be a key decision maker in the corporate world and successfully completing the course will draw me a step closer to realizing this objective.
Lead Mentor at STEMbility in the field of Augmented Reality where we conduct workshops for students and provide them a hands on experience.
I took part in a many various out of class activities, ranging from being part of the Pocock football team, the Pocock Link crew leadership club, and the NYCE volunteer centre.
The definition of my ideal Honors Course is a learning environment in which the student is as much engaged in the class as the teacher. The student is there because he wants to expand his knowledge in ways that a normal class can not. The course should challenge the assumption of what we and the way in which we have learned it. It should also emphasize exploration, creativity, and discovery. Lastly it should empower students to challenge themselves, they should have a desire to test their abilities and if needed to learn from their mistakes.
Joining Interact Club has been one of the most impactful and meaningful decisions that I have made in my high school career. Interact has provided me with opportunities that have changed my perspective on life and has
Liberty University is my dream school because of its solid Biblical foundation, opportunities for students, and excellent educational program. I have found all three of these qualities in my interaction with the university. I truly sense that Liberty wants what is best for its students both inside and outside of the classroom. In short, Liberty is my dream school because of its heart. The Honors Program at Liberty furthers my respect for Liberty by challenging its students and providing them with opportunities to succeed. Being accepted into the Liberty Honors Program would mean many things to me including preparing me for my future and giving me the chance to become a Champion for Christ. It would challenge and provide me with a close-knit Christian community, new growth opportunities, and a balance amidst the wide variety of new experiences. Being accepted into the Honors Program would further enable me to pursue and fulfill God’s purpose for my life.
The Honors Program is less about reward and more about the push for personal growth for myself. The last four years have shown to be a challenge, from being the first year student in Pre-calculus to being the junior who is aiming for a five on the AP test. I came from having mostly A’s, with few B’s, to being the student who earned A’s in every class. Personal motivation led me to this achievement. The Honors Program at CSU looks like a program to help me continue my journey of gaining knowledge. Being a member of this program would give my motivation to continue to strive for those higher grades. It is in my interest to be in this program to keep my performance in classes at the upper level. This program would allow me to focus on academics and strive for the best grades personally possible.
I'd like to be involved in UIC's Honors College in order to share my passion for learning, as well as to be challenged and to expand my knowledge as an academic.
All my life, I have been taught to push myself and not to take the easy way out. Before I say anymore, I must first explain what the term honors means to me. Honors, I believe, means pushing yourself farther and harder than average, not because you have to, but simply because you want to. That is why, throughout my years in school, I have always taken honors classes, along with dual enrollment classes from the Community College of Beaver County and Advance Placement classes. I always make a point to try to take the highest course possible, and that is why I want to now experience the Honors Program at Slippery Rock University.
“You’ve become the President of Interact,” said the club advisor. I decided to volunteer as an officer for Interact Club despite not knowing how to lead and being in the club for only one year.
In order to achieve this, I started the Valley CogSci Club on campus. I immediately realized that this organization on campus would be unsuccessful without a student body in place, one that served as a forum for collaboration and communication. We started by setting a precedent for ongoing presentations of student art on and off campus, and spearheading consistent music, poetry and STEAM events. I found that, in such a diverse arts and multicultural community, the most essential ingredient in creating a community-wide bond is
While being in this club, I have learned so much, like how to be a leader and just how to talk to people better. I was extremely quiet and never really talked, even to my friends. I can have normal conversations with people my age now and not get petrified at the thought of doing so. I have worked so hard to keep this club running and fun for everyone who joins, welcoming to new members, and be that leader figure for everyone. A lot of the members of the Anime/Manga Club are quiet people themselves and don 't speak up when they have ideas so I try to make it easier to speak up because I know exactly how they feel. I was in the same boat not too long ago and this club helped me overcome these flaws and I hope it does the same to even some of the members in this club. Overall, I have grown so much these past 4 years. I have learned not only to be there for others but to speak up for myself. I had so much trouble with talking to anyone and expressing myself, but thru the Anime/Manga Club I have learned become a leader and to communicate. This experience has changed me for the better and I hope I can become an even more valuable member of
