“Star Wars Genre Crisis”
Sci-Fi and Fantasy are works of fictions that are now known today as a form of entertainment, but from time to time people will confuse the two and interlink them together. A good example would be the film “Star Wars” as its equally debatable on whether it’s Sci-Fi or Fantasy. Star Wars originally was a series of films, however, there were novels that released before the film was aired. These novels were nothing more than the actual script of the Star Wars movies that were already in development by George Lucas in 1997. Star Wars explores the many adventures of various characters such as Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker etc. in an entirely made up galaxy. Star Wars is a controversial topic between Sci-Fi and fantasy,

The Force wasn’t really explained scientifically but was broadly stated as “an energy field created by all living things” by Obi-Wan Kenobi from the first Star Wars movie “A New Hope” in 1977. A great example from the movie would be the scene when Darth Vader shows the viewers the power of the force by using it to choke a man from a distance with a simple hand gesture. In a sense, the force is a type of supernatural element as Darth Vader clearly breaks Newton’s law of motion that states that an object at rest remains at rest, now Vader was nowhere near the victim when he used the force so that leaves a big question on how Vader exerted a force on the victim in the first place. Logically, he’s possibly manipulating or altering the physical science behind gravity. Theoretically, in physical science no human being can physically manipulate gravity to choke someone from afar with simple hand movements. So, it’s safe to say that the force is a type of magic, as magic is common in fantasy and isn’t fully explained in vast details. For example, Harry Potter introduces people to magic, which is classed as a supernatural force, similar to that of the Force in Star Wars. Another good example would be the scene in the Star Wars “A New Hope” where Obi-Wan Kenobi plays a mind trick on a clone trooper by using the force. The big issue behind the mind trick is it’s a form of telekinesis, which violates physical …show more content…
The Lightsaber was a very odd weapon, as it was a newly profound technology first introduced in Star Wars “A New Hope.” In the movie it ineffectively explores the whole fundamentals of the Lightsaber as throughout the movie it fails to explain what the purpose it even had and what components really made up a Lightsaber. When it was first introduced to the audience by Obi-Wan Kenobi when he went to go retrieve the Lightsaber from a wooden chest to then giving it to Luke Skywalker, as it was Luke’s Father wishes for his son to have the Lightsaber. The audience are faced with a broad statement by Obi-Wan Kenobi that claims the Lightsaber is a “weapon of a Jedi Knight, others clumsy or random as a blast, but an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.” Obi-Wan ineffectively informs the audience on what the real purpose of the Lightsaber is. The mechanics behind the Lightsaber has lots of flaws. The key components that make up a Lightsaber based off Al-Greene’s article “A Jedi’s Weapon” consist of a Blade emitter shroud, Blade length adjuster, Blade power adjuster, Ignition, Handgrip and finally a belt ring. The big issue is the design flaws, as the Lightsabers in “A New Hope” were powered by crystals that ignites the burst of light energy out of a Lightsaber, with the ring-coned blade entirely composed of light energy. The problem with this is that metal conducts heat and
The famous Star Wars is a movie from the epic space film series directed by George Lucas premiered in 1977. Since there are multiple Star Wars movies in the series, this paper will be focusing on the first movie of the series called Star Wars: A New Hope.
The Star Wars Films are a great series of trilogies made by Lucasfilm, and thought up by George Walton Lucas. The original Star Wars films are some of the most well known known movies ever made. Until George Lucas retired and sold Star Wars to Disney for 4 billion dollars. But Disney had almost no experience making good sci-fi movies.
In his article titled, “Star Wars and the Roman Empire,” Martin M. Winkler writes on Lucas’ trilogy and compares the storylines in the films to the Roman empire while placing focus on the similarities
Luke on the other hand, begs to differ. The evil Empire establishes itself within the gigantic Death Star and using Darth Vader’s help, they demolish the Jedi Order. The Jedi Order has nearly been eliminated when Luke Skywalker makes the decision to help destroy the evil Empire. He gets sucked into the Death Star and captured, but he fights his way out with Princess Leia and his droids. After he escapes, he comes back with more people for the final battle. In Luke’s final battle of the Death Star, he is able to use the force and communicate with Obi-Wan Kenobi who guides him into the long hard fought battle of
His goal was to learn how to use the force and he did achieve his goal but he did not use it for the purpose he originally planned it for. Chancellor Palpatine was against him because he helped Anakin use his power against those who were good.
Macbeth is a play written by William Shakespeare. It is considered one of his darkest and most powerful tragedies. Set in Scotland, the play dramatizes the corrosive psychological and political effects produced when evil is chosen as a way to fulfil the ambition for power. The play is believed to have been written between 1603 and 1607, and is most commonly dated 1606. It is a timeless classic and its themes resonate within some of the most common movies and books of modern times. Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise centered on a film series created by George Lucas. The film series, consisting of two trilogies, has spawned an extensive media franchise called the Expanded Universe including books, television series, computer and video games, and comic books. The franchise depicts a galaxy described as far, far away in the distant past, and it commonly portrays Jedi as a representation of good, in conflict with the Sith, their evil counterpart. Their weapon of choice, the lightsaber, is commonly recognized in popular culture. It is arguably a cinematic masterpiece, holding in rank two of possibly the greatest trilogies the world has ever seen. It is a timeless epic which embodies within it an allegory for the history of the world; the rise and fall of empires and their emperors; the pursuit of power; the melting pot of cultures; the struggle for survival; the advancement of human technology; and most importantly as a whole, the history of humanity. Steven D. Graynus declared, “Ultimately, what the Star Wars films offer is….rousing storytelling suffused by themes of moral struggle and transcendence” (Decent Films Guide). The franchise's storylines contain many themes, with strong influences from philosophy and religio...
The first point of argument I’d like to express is that the STAR WARS films have far better and more impressive weapons than Star Trek. Not only is this shown by the death star, a massive display of weaponized strength, but by how the centerpiece weapon of Star Trek, the phaser, pales in comparison to the flagship weapon of STAR WARS: the lightsaber. The lightsaber is a cultural icon and has been modeled in toys, replicas, and many other forms. Chris Anderson of businessinsider.com points out that, “A pulsating beam of light that is a sword that slices through metal like butter,” is an idea original to the star wars saga, whereas laser guns have been done repeatedly in science fiction (Anderson).
Star Wars and Harry Potter are two different dimensions. However, these two different dimensions have a similar way of teaching. In Star Wars, the place of learning is the Jedi Temple and in Harry Potter, it is Hogwarts. The Jedi Temple is where the students that have the potential of becoming a Jedi to learn about the Force. The Force is "An energy field

Quite possibly one of the most iconic openings in cinematic history is “A Long time ago in a galaxy far far away.” Of course, I am referring to Star Wars. It is such a fascinating and great movie going experience. There have been a total of seven Star Wars films, but in this essay I am going to be focusing on Star Wars: Episode 3- Revenge of the Sith. This film was written and directed by George Lucas and of the science fiction genre. Revenge of the Sith was released in theaters on May 19, 2005.

Star Wars (1977) is one of the world’s most successful films of all time. It has made a terrific impact on popular culture since its release. Furthermore, Star Wars changed the narrative and aesthetic style of future Hollywood films. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, illustrates how cinema has evolved since Fred Ott’s Sneeze (1894). Ultimately, this essay will explain the set up of Star Wars and how it connects to cinema history, in the point of views of the: narrative and cinematic style, genre, auteur theory and the global film industry.
The recently released ‘Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’ has become the best-selling Star Wars game, or of any game previously released by LucasArts , of all time shifting over 1.5 million copies of the title. LucasArts also underestimated how popular the game would become with ‘unprecedented demand’. “This further emphasizes the undiminished popularity of Star Wars” ( Faylor C, 2008 ).
It’s no question that genre is a very important factor in a screenwriter’s pursuit of creating a highly marketable film. Considering genre types in writing a script for an upcoming film is important to not only the target audience, but the technical characteristics of certain genres. Every film created is categorized into a specific genre based on elements of that genre type, as well as accompanied by technical aspects that classify a film as a specific genre type. Some films are finalized as purely one type of genre, while in other instances the film gains the classification of type different genre types. Sound, cinematography, mise-en-scene, editing, and narrative are the formal elements of film that help determine a final product into a genre class, or multiple genre classes. Yet even dwelling in the subcategories of major genre types, like science fiction or action, films also have the ability to shift genre within their screen time and not only be placed in a genre category but jump genre types as well. This is caused greatly by the blending of genre types that have elements that complement each other’s qualities well and can easily be transitioned from one type to the next. Where Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979) series prequel Prometheus (2012) began under the science fiction type genre and develops a gradual transition into horror, Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s Cabin in the Woods (2012) flips the two genres, beginning as a horror genre than transitions into a science fiction category.
Electric force is caused by electric charge. Electric charge is a property of the bits of matter within atoms. Electric force can cause matter to attract or repel because there are two kinds of charge – positive and negative charge.
