For years it has been a controversy that an abortion should not be legal. Many people feel aborting an unwanted child, or killing an unwanted child should be against the law. A woman's body is her own to do with what ever she wants. With this being said, on the topic of abortions, I agree with it. Furthermore in countries such as Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Egypt abortion is illegal. Therefore it does not include one who has been raped to receive an abortion. Raped victims should be able to undergo abortions. Women should not have to explain or justify to anyone their reason why they want an abortion. “There are only two ways of thinking about abortion: either a woman has a right to decide not to be pregnant anymore, or other people think they have a right to make her decision for her (Carmon, Irin).” It is very difficult for a mother to have a child as a rape victim. That day when that cruel man took her innocence will continuously play out and the child will contribute to a memory of this horrific time. The woman who has been raped will not want the child as a memory. Being raped is a terrible trauma as is and a raped victim should be able to receive an abortion The individual did not choose to be raped. A woman being raped and then forced to carry the baby until delivery could be tragic for both mother and child. For instance, if a young 15 year-old-girl was raped and then forced to keep the child. Would most people let a 15 year old adopt a child if she wanted to? No, simply because she is immature and is not ready to take care of a child on her own. With this being said, would you expect a 15-year-old girl to deliver a child and keep it? If a 15-year child is not able to adopt a child the... ... middle of paper ... ...n the country. Therefore this may be a reason why the mother should not be able to go through with the procedure. Their child can be a positive influence that will leave an footprint on Earth and make a difference in the world. “A baby produced by rape has the same right to life as any other baby. However, abortion ends the life of an innocent unborn human being (Napolitano, Andrew P).” I believe that women have the right to have abortions. Their body is their own to do with what they please. Although most people do not know their situation, the woman would know whats right for herself. For instance, not being able to take care of the baby psychically and emotionally. Some may argue that abortions for raped victims is a horrific idea however, those who have not experienced the physical and emotional damage should not have a say in what she should do with her body.
To have an abortion at all, I personally do not agree with. However, there are certain extents in which I think are right to have an abortion, suc...
I believe that in certain circumstances, such as Rose’s, abortions are a completely viable option and a woman should have control over whether she should have a child or not. I do not think that any person should have an abortion for just any reason, but at the same time, I feel that it is no one’s place, but the mother herself, what she does with her body and that it is entirely her decision if she gets an abortion or not. I also believe that if women are denied abortions, then most likely the babies are coming into this world unwanted, and that is never a good start to living a happy life, so in some cases, it might be in the babies best interest to have an
As portrayed in the evidence above a women’s right to abortion should be legal as becoming pregnant is a big deal. Women sometimes cannot control their bodies as they get into situations that are not their fault, like rape. Even though women sometimes could avoid getting into situations that
As one knows, some unwanted pregnancies could often be harmful and distressing for a woman. Women should have the right over their body to choose to sustain the fetus or not. In the past decades, women did not have their freedom of abortion in many countries of the world. There have always been controversies going on about abortion. Each individual has dissimilar views on the legality of abortion. Some people are against abortion for personal religious purposes and beliefs. For those who don’t believe in abortion, it is because they see it as killing a fetus, which is a human being. Others support abortion because they believe in women’s rights. Laws of abortion vary in each country, and abortion is not legal all over the world. It is illegal under any conditions but only permitted to save woman’s life if in countries such as Brazil, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, and Ireland. However, abortion is legal without any restrictions in countries like Canada, Albania, and Italy. It the past decades Abortion was considered as criminal act in Canada. “If an abortion was carried out without such approval, the woman was liable for imprisonment for 2 years, an...
However, we have reverted back to the case of rape. If a fetus conceived voluntarily has the right not to be aborted due to how it was conceived, then the fetus conceived from rape should also have that same right. Instead of creating a distinction of cases where the fetus has a right to use the body of a pregnant person, Thomson instead makes a distinction of when abortion would be morally wrong.
When it comes to abortion I believe that it should always be left up to the woman to make the decision on whether to keep her baby or not. Having a baby is no eas...
Rape is a despicable crime against women. Opinions are heated, and it seems that everybody has something to say about pregnancy in the case of rape. The woman who suffered from the sexual assault are more likely to experience distress after or during an abortion. When a woman gets raped, it isn’t wanted. If one was in that situation they wouldn’t want to constantly think about the fetus and how and when it occurred. One should not be obligated to go through the particular child birth. Who would want to give birth to a baby that would suffer his or her life not knowing who the father
An issue that has flared up in today’s society, abortion is a highly debated topic that has sparked some of the most violent discussions. The rapid growth in teenage pregnancy has only increased the amount of attention that has been drawn to abortion and whether it is ethical or not. While some say that a woman is in power of her own body and can make choices based on her best interest, some take much offense to that and demand that a baby is a baby no matter how small it is and that abortion is never okay. It is important to know going into this debate that to argue one side, one would have to be 100% consistent with that decision because of all of the grey areas that come up regarding abortion. With that being said, I still believe that a mother should take responsibility of the situation and recognize that, even though it is minuscule, a baby is a person the moment it begins to develop inside of her.
Are you giving it a label to convince me that killing the fetus is not wrong, or are you convincing yourself? This is a mostly ethical point of view on abortion. If a woman is pregnant, she should accept the responsibility of having the child and if she doesn’t want the child, to give it up for adoption. You say it is your right to have control over your body, but where was that control when the child was conceived? As for rape, well, I have a story to tell about the ability to love that child.
Rape is among the more horrific violations of human dignity imaginable. It is a crime committed by the male, not the female—and certainly not by the child it might produce. When rape results in pregnancy, the baby has the same right to life as any child born by mutually loving parents. Only the Nazis would execute a child for the crimes of his or her father.
Some are planned and some are not. Sometimes a pregnancy happens because one is raped or sexually harassed. There are different ways that one can go about whenever they find out they are with child. Abortion is one. Whether one meant to become pregnant or not, abortion should never be okay. Some think that when a person is raped that abortion should be okay in that case. Abortions happen more than you realize. Physicians do about two abortions every minute of every day. About one million abortions happen a year since nineteen seventy-three. Not all happen because of a rape victim, but that is one of the number reasons why. No matter the circumstance an innocent, unborn child does not deserve that. All babies have the same rights. A baby produced by rape ha the same exact rights to life as a baby planned or any other person. Just because someone else does wrong, the baby should not have to take the blame for it, and have it’s life taken because of it. Whenever rape results in pregnancy, the child that is produced has the same rights to life as one that is born to loving parent (Napolitano, Andrew
...dering of children who have never gotten a chance at a future, should be considered a crime. I think that this idea can reduce the rate of abortion in many ways. Why? Because she would not have to deal with a situation where she would feel afraid, or where the child would be undesirable.
Having children is one of the most amazing things in the world but some children are created with the wrong idea behind them. RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network) reports that there is “on the average of 237,868 people, ages 12 or older that have become victims of rape and sexual assault yearly.” Some of these rape and sexual assault crimes result in women becoming pregnant with a baby that they had not planned on. Women who become pregnant due to rape and sexual assault are usually very eager to get rid of their baby due to the fact that their child would possibly be a reminder of a part in their life that they would not like to recall.
Abortion is a very controversial issue in our society. However, people tend to feel differently about abortions for rape victims. The contriversy over the abortion issue is that if a woman is responsible enough to go through the actions to become pregnant, she should be able to have the child. Churches believe that abortion is murder. However, if a woman is raped, she did not give her consent to have sexual intercourse with the offender. According to Schuman and Scott, although there are many people that have mixed feelings about abortion, in other words they believe that it is okay at some times, but at other times they feel that it is wrong, the most extreme pro-life people still believe that abortion is wrong “when pregnancy results from rape or incest.” (Schuman and Scott 786) In these situations, however, pro-choice believe that women have as much right to choose what happens to their body. According to Kimmel, in some states abortion is only legal in “cases of rape or of a threat to the mother’s health” (Kimmel 255).
In my Opinion, abortion violates a person’s right to life. No one have right to play with another life. If a woman chooses to have sex, she is doing in her own
