Did you know that standardized testing can be doing more harm than good. Throughout time the United States have use standardized testing as a tool to measure a student's success. In recent studies, has found that relying on one test score does not fully measure a student's ability. Although many people believe that it is the only effective way to measure what a student has learned, how well a teacher has taught, and how prepared a student is to succeed in the real world. The recent studies show that the ACT does not measure real learning, there are disadvantages, and stress that is caused by one test.
Standardized tests like the ACT do not effectively measure how smart a student is or how well a teacher has taught the subjects in that particular test. There is more to life than a test score. Today teachers are teaching for a test not necessarily for what is best for a student learning. If teachers do not apply what they are teaching in everyday life they lose their class’s interest. By teaching to a book students are no longer excited to learn and it becomes a chore, “there are broken schools who are failing our children everyday” (William). Most students …show more content…

A studies was done showing that, “ Students who study for a standardized test are more likely to complete their homework and watch television than their peers” (Harris). Standardized testing is beneficial for student who need an extra push when it makes to effort in the classroom. The students who take standardized testing spended more time and effort completing their schoolwork. Standardized testing also makes students learning studying skills that will be helpful later in their educational career. Standardized testing allows the school system to see what areas need improvement in the coming years.
