The Saint I chose is Saint Matthew. I chose Saint Matthew because my fathers name is Matthew and Saint Matthew was a tax collector and I am good at math so this represents me. Matthew is remembered for a few things such as being one of Jesus's 12 disciples and the first author of the New Testament. Matthew was born in Palestine in the 1st century A.D. and his cause of death was in the Orthodox Church, tradition says that St. Matthew refused to die even after several attempts. He was first placed upside down and lit on fire, then sunk in a coffin in the sea overnight. The ruler of Ethiopia, who tried to kill Matthew, apologized to the apostle and converted to Christianity. His ethnicity was the Middle East and he was a catholic. Also,
he was a Jew. Saint Matthew worked as a tax collector in Capernaum. Matthew is the patron saint of accountants, actors, bankers, bookkeepers, tax collectors, and taxi drivers. Also, the feast of Matthew is celebrated on September 21. Once Matthew began to follow Jesus, he held a dinner for other tax collectors and sinners (Matthew 9:10). The Pharisees, the strict Jewish law abiders that were leaders in the community, complained about Jesus, a teacher eating with sinners. Jesus said, "For I have come to call the not the righteous but the sinners." (Matthew 9:13) In Matthew’s Gospel he writes about the Jewish people that the long-awaited Messiah, the Hope of Israel, has come! As we move through Matthew, it’s important to note how many times he makes reference to the prophets and the Scriptures that spoke of Jesus’ birth. He’s writing to tell these people, “Here He is! The One we’ve been waiting for!” Verses 5, 15, 16, and 22 all contain references to different prophecies concerning the birth of Jesus Christ. What Matthew is making a point of is a fraction of the hundreds of prophecies recorded long before Jesus Christ was born that are fulfilled in his birth, life, death, and resurrection.
A saint is a virtuous person that is honored by church after death who is considered to a degree of holiness and is blessed. In most Christian denominations think all people are saints in the Catholic Church the term saint is given to a person whom which the church has officially been canonized. Furthermore, the Catholic Church explains that they do not create or make a saint; however, they recognize saints. In fact, Frances Xavier Cabrini or as many people refer to her as Mother Cabrini is the first person to be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church.
Saint Christopher is my favorite saint for a multitude of reasons. Let's just get the easy one out of the way which is that both he and I share the same name. With that aside, Saint Christopher is also my favorite saint as he is the patron saint of transportation and travel. My family and I enjoy traveling and exploring and before every trip, I say a short prayer to Saint Christopher , and not once has our family gotten into any major issues traveling. The biggest reason Saint Christopher is my favorite saint is that I admire his eagerness to serve others. Before helping to carry people across the river, Saint Christopher searched for who he though was the most powerful person in the world, so that he could serve them. And after that event with the Christ-Child at the river, Saint Christopher was said to of gone to a town in Asia Minor called Lycia, where he ministered to the Christian population there until he was beheaded in the year 251. Regardless of whether his story is true or not, and whether he even existed, Saint Christopher is a good model to look up
... of saint because he had the strongest desire to do good for others. He exemplified great virtue and because of this a community was able to move forward.
I think Archbishop Fulton Sheen should become a saint because he was a major role in the spread of Catholicism and anti-Communism. He has some official miracles that are credited to him, but others are still undergoing investigation. He played a major part in spreading Catholicism through his missions, but also on his radio and television shows. He also had the gift of prophecy and was able to see what was coming in the world. It almost seemed like he had a direct connection to God, and everything that he said seemed like God was saying it through him. Without him, all those little children would not be alive today if it were not for him praying for them. Archbishop Sheen seemed to touch a lot of people's lives during his own lifetime, and also after his death. I can tell that he had a deep influence on Father Apostali because of the way that he talked about him.
"We begged God to accept our lives and our blood and unite them to His life and His blood for the salvation of these tribes."1 This quote gives a small window into the heroism and abandon in which St. Isaac Jogues lived out his call to evangelize the native people of New France (Canada). Driven by a deep admiration for the Jesuit missionaries of Japan and China, he sacrificially dove deep into the culture of those who he lived with. He did this so that Jesus would not not simply come across as a European savior, but as a universal redeemer who speaks to people in their own language, through their own heritage and traditions. Even after facing brutal torture at the hands of the Mohawks, St. Isaac Jogues persisted in spreading the gospel in Canada, trusting that through his sufferng God would bring about salvation.
In this primary source Friar John is sent by the Pope to Batu Khan's camp to understand the Mongol intentions. This is similar to the account that Ibn Fadlan gave about the Viking's lifestyle, but about an election. They arrived to the election of the Khan and waited for their response. In the time they were waiting he describes how they erected a white pavilion with a wooden palisade. The first few days they wore different colored velvets for the event. The emporer and the chiefs met in one of the tents for the election. The election brought envoys from Russia, Gerogia, the Caliph of Baghdad, and Sultans from the Saracens. When they finally saw the emperor they talk about his wealth he has recieved. "So many gifts were bestowed by the nevoys there that it was marvellous to behold- gifts of silk, samite, velvet, brocade, girdles of silk threaded with gold, choice furs, and other presents (428)." The emperor tried to keep the monks ignorant of his intentions to fight the western world after the celebrations. A month later they were able to write their questions down and get the reply that had to be translated and checked. Friar John and the Christians under the emperor believed that he would convert to Christianity because of the clerics, the supplies given

Saint Sebastian, patron saint of archers, athletes, and those desiring a saintly death, was born in the late 3rd century in Narbonne, Gaul (modern-day France). Often resonating with athletes internationally, his story is one about perseverance, courage, and faith. And in the case of many, a life which many can learn from. For Christians, Saint Sebastian stands tall as the patron saint of athletes, being a symbol of strength, resilience, and unwavering faith. His life story, known for his defiance and courage against persecution and endurance amidst suffering, relates closely to those engaged in physical pursuits, one in which many athletes relate to.
St Patrick is a complex historical figure that owns different stories and legends about him. People celebrate every March 17th to memory this saint people, they consider him as a symbol of “Irishness”. On the other hand, there are different purposes to build St Patrick’s image according to divers needs. During the lifetime before and after Christ we were blessed with saints. Saints were followers of Christ who help guide us towards Him and to learn to do good works in His name. All over the world they are saints that are a patron for what they fought for and believed in. The saint I have chosen to discuss is St. Rose of Lima; she shows the characteristics of loyalty and sacrifice to show her devotion to God.

On January 28th St. John died as a martyr. He performed many miracles during his life time. When John was a young man he was not very religious. John was a sinner, he would not care much about Jesus and the Church. But one day when John walking on the shores of a beach he finds a stray dog lying on the shore. When he approaches the dog he can see that the dog had been physically abused and abandoned by the owner. John left but he felt guilty and came back to see if the dog was still there. The Gospel of Matthew is the most Jewish gospel in the New Testament. It is placed first in the New Testament because people find it to be the most helpful. It is the second written Gospel. This Gospel maintains the hope in Parousia, the final coming of Jesus Christ. This Gospel also presents a great concern: the mission of the Church to all nations is to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom. Jesus is presented as the new Moses in the Gospel of Matthew, who prophetically challenged his listeners to live the radical demands of beatitudinal living. Throughout this Gospel, Jesus serves as the fulfillment of Old Testament expectations. The 3 main examples given in the Gospel are: the birth of Emmanuel, Jesus’ parables, and Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. Two great examples of this is when Jesus (the Messiah) enters into Jerusalem in Matthew 21 and Jesus at the
