Religion has existed for the entirety of human history. From Hinduism that is so old that it does not have a definitive origin to Baha’i that formed less than 200 year ago, religions are always prevalent in daily human life. However, some religions have spread all over the globe and have many adherents like Christianity whereas others are much smaller and have remained local like Judaism. Some religions are destined to remain local religions and not spread globally due to a lack of proselytism and shared cultural ties for adherents of local religions.
Since the goal of proselytism is to spread a particular religion, religions that have missionaries are more likely to be global religions. The main religions that encourage spreading the faith are Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism and they happen to be the first, second, and fourth largest religions worldwide respectively because of this (“AP Human Geography Modules,” 2017). Christianity is especially known for having missionaries; even Jesus, one of the major religious figures who is considered to be the son of God, traveled to preach the religion. Islam

These adaptations are seen in universalizing religions which also tend to be the ones that proselytize: Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism. For example, Buddhist texts were translated to Chinese and northwestern Chinese deities became a part of the religion, making more Chinese people convert to Buddhism than they would have without the adaptations. Sufism in Islam also adapted Islamic teaching to make the religion more accessible for all people and used ethnic religious beliefs when preaching (“The Spread of Religions,” 2017). Small changes to the traditional religious teaching makes people more likely to convert to a religion because it allows them to learn about it and not abandon their existing
The Major religions spread across Eurasia and Africa through trade routes and conquest. Along with the religions came ideas and practices to new and distance places, changing local populations and create new traditional beliefs and customs.
-Religion has been around as long humans, no matter how you believe they were created
There is no society without religion. James has also states that religion is “personal destiny”, which means that it existence is infinite in human life. Human lifestyle has been influence by the religion, so religion is a principal factor in universe. Religion is based on different believes and practices of humans which is totally understandable, despite of difference in religion people have same shared belief of putting their God above the others and shows the love and affection toward it. God has created this universe, the specious around us is the sign of his existence.
Between 200 B.C.E and 800 C.E., there was a large development and spread of Universal Religions. The definition of a universal religion is a religion that has these characteristics: believes in one God, promises a type of salvation or after life, and a religion that is open to all people no matter what social class, race, or gender. Two of the large universal religions, Christianity and Buddhism were spread because of Syncretism. Syncretism is the adaptation to a religion by the religious leaders so that their beliefs are close to those of the local population. Although Syncretism is arguably the most important factor for the spread of these universal religions, there were other key reasons as to why these religions spread.
Since the day Christopher Columbus landed in the Caribbean, religion and commerce has played a major role in shaping the New World. Religion defines cultures, changes history, and molds civilizations. During the seventeenth century in the New England and Southern colonies religion influenced colonists lives. Although the majority of settlers bound for the colonies started in Europe, religion and commerce would lead them in different directions. The New England colonies became defined by their religion, while the Southern colonies were defined by their production of tobacco.
...to convert people to Christianity. While some of the methods were different, most of the underlying factors of Proselytism such as language and knowledge were emphasized which made Christianity more appealing and accessible to the culturally and ethnically diverse population of Asia.
Religion has existed since the dawn of civilization and over time has evolved into the religions we have today. Today the most prominent religions are monotheistic, having one omnipotent god, and despite having many differences they share basic tenets of respect and kindness. Religions, such as Judaism, give explanations for the unknown, provide hope, and bring about a sense of community.
It appeared that people were fed up with having to follow a certain thought and therefore questioned the religion. Therefore lead them to “sculpt” religion to meet their needs and beliefs. Similar proselytization entered an area of mass marketing where people were fervent to convert and send missionaries out. This also includes fervent revivalism to get people excited and in the moment to convert. During this period of time, proselytization prospered.
Religion is an ever-growing idea that has no set date of origin. Throughout history religion has served as an answer to the questions that man could not resolve. The word religion is derived from the Latin word “religio” meaning restraint in collaboration with the Greek word “relegere” which means to repeat or to read again. Religion is currently defined as an organized system of beliefs and practices revolving around, or leading to, a transcendent spiritual experience. Throughout time, there has yet to be a culture that lacks a religion of some form, whether it is a branch of paganism, a mythological based religion or mono/polytheistic religion. Many religions have been forgotten due to the fact that they were ethnic religions and globalizing religions were fighting to be recognized, annihilating these ancient and ethnic religions. Some of these faiths include: Finnish Paganism, Atenism, Minoan Religion, Mithraism, Manichaeism, Vedism, Zoroastrianism, Asatru, and the Olmec Religion. Religion is an imperative part of our contemporary world but mod...
The fact is that no matter where you turn, religion is a major part of culture and influences everyone on some level. While I don’t agree on any particular religion, it is important about learning what types there are in the world.
However, since the death of these men, I believe our civil rights have strengthened just a tiny bit, it has weakened as well though. Most of us aren’t against blacks, whites, or Hispanics but we are actually against other religions and nationalities. Christianity, Catholicism, and Islam have caused many wars and conflicts. All the hate just causes more deaths, wars, and conflicts.
Religions have always played a vital role between humans and its society especially in terms of what is good and proper in the society. In modern world, people have become increasingly dissociated from religion and spirituality.
For thousands of years, religion has exerted a great influence over economic and political life. Even today religion is called upon to support rulers, contacts and other legal procedures.
Religion itself can mean many different things and is interpreted differently by each group of people. The literal meaning of the word “religion” is “a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects.” Religion is divided into different secs such as Christians, Muslims, Jews, etc. Although religion is aimed to unite people and bring them together, I believe there are certain aspects that divide people or make them “different” from everyone else. The factors that have caused religion to divide are war and violence, the caste system, and rituals.
Religion influences culture in many ways. People of different cultures have a set of beliefs that influence their daily lives and how they act. Religion is like a way of life. Many people take their religion very seriously, so their lives and cultures are majorly affected by their religion then and now. Religion has always had a major impact on human life and culture. It has the ability to not only unify people but also having the ability to cause war, and devastation.
