His body had a single stab wound in his back which had pierced his heart, killing him instantly. Supposed eye witnesses say that a small boy who was a member of the "Greaser Gang" attacked and killed Bob and intended to kill the rest of them. Cherry Valance claims that she was walking with Johnny and Ponyboy after the movies when Bob approached them in his car and threatened the two them. Be on the lookout for the two boys with the description of one that has long light-brown hair, green eyes, and is about five feet tall and another has long jet-black hair, large black eyes, and is about four feet six inches. The first one is considered to be Ponyboy and the second one is considered to be Johnny. The two are now on the run they were last seen at a party with Dally. Investigators report that Dally says he has no idea where these two are but he thinks that they are going to Mexico. A woman was taking a walk through the park and discovered the bloody corpse she said “I was hesitant at first because I thought they were watching me, but I gained some courage and called 911” the friends that were their helping Bob bully the 2 said they were there during the homicide, but decided not to call the police because they were drunk and they were scared after seeing him dead. They said, the murderer was a 16 year old boy named Johnny Cade.
During the investigation several fibers and two hairs were found on the boys, one negroid hair and one Caucasian hair.(Sauls) None of these hairs or fibers could be linked directly to any of the three boys. This evidence was also somewhat just tossed aside and overlooked for the remainder of the case… I wonder why?

On May 22, 2005, the body of Sara Lynn Wineski, a homeless women, was found underneath a deck at the Ronald McDonald House in St. Petersburg. She was forty-nine years old and appeared to be strangled and raped to death. A resident told authorities that they heard screams around 11 p.m. the night before they found her body. DNA evidence was collected that night and years later, police were able to match the DNA from the scene to Raymond Samuels. Testing confirmed that it was Samuels’ DNA that was collected from the scene and also his DNA was found on the belt used to strangle Wineski. By the time they discovered it was Samuels’ DNA, he was already in prison in Ohio, for robbing and attacking an elderly couple. He was sentenced twenty-nine years.
Forensics has changed the way our criminal system works now. A lot of cases are being solved because of the development of forensics. Even cold cases are being brought up to the light to be investigated again and a good percentage of the cases are being solved and criminals are being brought to justice. The green river killer is one case that really got me intrigued into forensics and I got mesmerized by the techniques that are being used to catch murderers and other crimes being committed. The green river killer had an interesting childhood that led him to be a serial killer. He committed multiple murders on prostitutes and left there families with agony and pain. But advances in DNA ultimately led to his demise, police officers were able to capture and arrest him and bring justice to a lot of family’s mourning for their sisters, mothers, and daughters. His story is intriguing and is one that I would like to tell.

Mark Seltzer has clearly presented his concepts to reveal how the media has played part in exposing the existence of serial killers. Mark argues that some common videos that are shown on televisions have in one way or the other contributed to the increase of serial killers. Below are some of his arguments that reveal the media as part of the abnormality.
Serial murder investigations are the most difficult cases for investigators. Serial murder investigations can become wide spread, and can include many challenges that will require time, money and resources. An example of the commitment required to investigate a serial murder case is that of Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber. One investigator worked the investigation full time for 11 years. The day he made the Arrest was the day he retired. Serial murder is one of today’s most terrifying crimes. The killing of multiple people within various jurisdictions can alter everyday life for people residing within these communities. The result is intense pressure from the public and media placed on investigators to track down and apprehend these killers who commit such horrific acts to unsuspecting victims.
After finding remains police continued to search the area to find more clues leading to who was in the burlap sack. Over the next two days, police found three more remains in burlap sacks, in the same area the first set of remains were found. As the search continued for more missing pieces in this very messed up puzzle, by April 2011, four more bodies were discovered in the area. The four sets of remains found more recent were not in burlap sacks, but police continued thinking the killings were connected somehow. Some details have yet to be released. Body parts that had been washed up as far as 50 miles away from the initial site of the remains were later matched with ones found near Ocean Parkway. In 1996, legs washed up on a shore, and were later matched with remains found in April of 2010. The forearm, skull, and hands of Jessica Taylor were matched from remains found 50 miles away in 2003. Over the course of fourteen years, it is known that the Long Island Killer was active from 1996 to 2010. After 2010, no one knows whether he has died, or is still active. If the killer is active in present times, he has found a new place to dump the bodies and remains. The case still remains a mystery.
A serial killer is a person who murders three or more people over a period of more than 30 days, with a "cooling off" period between each murder, and whose motivation for killing is largely based on psychological gratification. Most people do not understand what can make a person want to kill multiple people for no reason other than own satisfactional gain. In actuality serial killers have been studied for over hundreds of years, and the information that has been documented continues to grow. The research that I have gathered about serial killers focuses on their childhood development, the differences and similarities between men and female serial kills, and finally general information on how their brains operate and their motives for committing such harmful acts.
Most of the time people cannot comprehend why people that work in the forensic department are sometimes overwrought with anxiety when they have a serial killer case brought into their lab. These forensic scientists have these feelings due to knowing that this could potentially help advance technology. Over the years, serial killers have unpremeditatedly helped further advance the criminal investigation process by unintentionally leaving things behind for a forensics team to analyze. When the team finally solves these cases, it continually propels things such as DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) analysis, finger print techniques, and not to mention the investigation process itself.
