Though known as a cartoon character in a famous cartoon show, Spongebob Squarepants is a character known and beloved by all. Despite being known as a character that was made solely for children, the iconic movie, The Spongebob Squarepants Movie which was released in 2004 went against the odds. Showing humor, adventure, friendship, and great animation and production, The Spongebob Squarepants movie is a movie catered to not only children but to those of all ages. With the output that the voice actors did with their lines, the movie was able to convey its humorous and cartoony tone. Not too realistic and not too dead, the voice actors were able to keep the movie alive with their impeccable acting, leaving the audience to stay immersed throughout the entire movie. As a Rotten Tomatoes user states, “The voice actors do a brilliant job in bringing the characters of Bikini Bottom to life. All the voices fit perfectly and make the movie even funnier!” One could see the effort that the voice actors had put into this movie, and the most highly acclaimed element of the Spongebob Squarepants movie is the character and plot development that takes place. To not give out spoilers or waste time summarizing the plot, the character development of (mainly) Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick Star takes place throughout their long journey to get King Neptune's crown back. At the beginning of the movie, Spongebob struggles with self-identity, and throughout his journey, he grows from boy to man as he finds who he truly is.
