Being that we live in America, I believe that people should be able to voice their openly freely, get an abortion, or if they choose to smoke a cigarette. Not to my surprise, four out of seven of them were vaping. I was overcome with rage when I saw them casually pick up their pod and inhale the destructive chemicals. As much as I don’t want to admit it, almost everyone is friends with someone who vapes or they themselves vape. What’s funny is that they’re the type of people neither me nor my parents would identify as a “bad crowd”. They get good grades, are polite, and are genuinely kind and hardworking people, so why ruin that by vaping? There have been numerous times when I have walked into the girls’ bathroom and I see people vaping. Not only do they somehow think that it is acceptable, they think it’s cool to post it on social media. So yes the very act of vaping is looked down upon and quite frankly doesn’t make you look cool but then they think it’s appropriate to let everyone know that they’re doing it? I don’t think I’m so bothered by kids my age smoking as I am the law or lack of law prohibiting it. I think that you should have to be 18 years old at the minimum to make a decision that can so profoundly impact your health. You have to be 18 to buy a cigarette, whereas a few decades ago you didn’t need to be. Why? Because people began to see that the drugs in the cigarette one of which is nicotine can cause disease and cancer. You can easily see why it baffles me that the drug nicotine is still being put into
Have you ever wondered what happens when you inhale the liquid from a vape? Many people that vape think it's a better alternative than smoking and actual cigarette, or they think it's safer than cigarettes. Vaping actually has many dangers that come with it, like it can cause the body to become weaker in fighting infections, scar the lungs, or can blow up in your face. And though it might be way safer than real cigarettes, there are many things in those vapes that can cause health dangers in the body. Though it's still early in the vape life, many researches have been done to prove of these dangerous things that can cause harm to the inside and outside of the body.
People throughout the time have been worried about some acts that people make; these acts are sometimes performed unconsciously or without realizing these are affecting they negatively affect others. Some reasons why this happens, they do not realize they are making someone uncomfortable, or they simply do not care about it. Smoking is one of these activities. For a long time, smoking in public places has been extremely popular regardless of age or gender. Many smokers believe they are free to smoke wherever and whenever they. Even if they realize the damage they are causing to themselves, which is a personal decision, when they smoke in public places they ignore the collective damage they are causing others. It has been claimed that despite not engaging in the activity themselves, “passive smokers suffer the same horrifying bad consequences as active smokers” in the form of second-hand smoke (Ecobichon & Wu, 1990, p. 43). Smoking is thus a dangerous activity that is becoming more and more popular in campus every day and is becoming a social and educational problem. Schools should ban smoking from their campus, and those that have should implement stricter methods of enforcing such rules.
Many actions have been taken on vaping and cigarettes, such as only allowing people over or at the age of eighteen to buy the product and putting warning labels on products. The serious issue is there needs to be action applied to the fact that these products can kill a human being. There is a wide variety of policies being passed for vaping and cigarettes. A vaping regulation is trying to pass allowing all vape companies to carry similar products back when vaping first started. This could cause the vaping market to crash, making people lose money, and most importantly jobs.
...s look up to their peers and do whatever they do because they think it is the cool thing to do. Many times it is out of peer pressure that people try this drug to begin with. This can all be avoided if everyone is aware of the bad side effects that can occur in their bodies and what is in marijuana that will mess up their lives.
PURPOSE: To persuade my audience that we must take action now to control air pollution
A 2001 survey found that 69.4 percent of teenage smokers reported never being asked for proof of age when buying cigarettes in a store. The same survey found that 62.4 percent were allowed to buy cigarettes even when the retailer was aware they were under eighteen. Cigarette smoking is very harmful to both smokers, non- smokers and the environment. People who smoke just show how inconsiderate they are towards others. Even the people who do not smoke in public places are selfish.
Smoking is one of the leading killers in North America and innocent. people shouldn't die because of it. For years people have been smoking. in public thinking, "It's my body, I can do whatever I want to do." now that it has been proven that smoking not only harms the smoker.
One of the newest trends in America is an alternative to smoking called “Vaping”. There are many advocacy groups that are currently petitioning and fighting legislature that would make this new trend illegal. Many claims have been made stating that vaping is more dangerous than smoking traditional big brand tobacco. There are also arguments that there have not been enough studies to prove that vaping is less harmful than conventional smoking methods, which is not the case however. Vaping has been around since the early 1960s and has proven to be healthier than its tobacco cousin, the cigarette. Currently the United States Government is trying to pass a law that would ban the production, distribution, and sale of many vape products. This ban would make it so the big brand tobacco companies would once again be the number one source for nicotine. I strongly believe that vaping is a safe alternative method to smoking that will reduce many medical risks and diseases associated
Smoking is not only bad for health it is also as bad for the people
feel that smoking should be made illegal. The reason they may feel this way is
All throughout the world people do things that are not always agreed upon in different cultures, communities, and even religions. Some people believe eating red meat is a sin, but should you take it away from those who enjoy it? We are living in the land of the free. Aren’t we a snob? I am against the banning of tobacco products because not only is it a right as an American citizen to be able to smoke, it is a job for American citizens, and as long as smokers are knowledgeable about the product causes it should be a personal right to choose.
...allowed to make the choice to smoke in public. They must consider the risks of their actions and how it affects those around them. Health concerns cannot be the only driving factor when society allows other activities that are equally harmful to be legally allowed. Smokers have rights just as much as non smokers and as long as they do so in a manner that is respectful to others in a designated area, they should be permitted to do so.
The survey we conducted showed that most people believed it was more common for youths in the 14 to 22 age group to use recreational drugs. This was closely followed by the 23 to 30 age group, while the 13 and under age group was considerably further behind. The survey question that followed indicated that people also believed that drug users were irresponsible and inconsiderate. This slightly supports the misconception that teens are more likely to be involved with recreational drugs.
Speech on Tobacco Use Fellow Students, We all know that tobacco kills. In this speech, I want to tell everyone that tobacco kills non-smokers as well. Let us be clear about it. Second-hand smoke also kills. It is well documented through solid science that exposure to second-hand smoke causes cancer and contributes to various lung and heart diseases.
Teen Smoking Teen smoking. Those two words mean a lot of things to a lot of different people. To some it means nothing. They are just two meaningless words found under T and S in the dictionary. To others it is as if these words symbolize some sort of treason or crime against society. Yet to others it is just another stereotype to be placed under. And to some it is a salvation. An escape. Unfortunately I am writing this paper so you will get my positions on teen smoking rather than other peoples. Teen smoking gathers a lot of emotions when I think about it. It makes me very angry sometimes. My first draft of this was good but I saw myself getting angry and lashing out on everyone, so I revised it. But enough of that, I find teen smoking to be a very controversial subject. To be completely honest with you I am smoking right now as I am writing this. Obviously I am a smoker. I am 17 years old and I am a smoker. In the late 1990’s, the statistics showed that approximately 25% of teens smoke. That’s one out of every four teenagers. High school is a tough time for teens. These years are critical to a teens future. This explains why a vast majority of smokers start at 16 years or younger with the most common age being 14 years old(freshman). It has also been proven also that teens who score lower in school smoke more than higher scoring students do. It seems that everyone smokes in our school. Our school is overrun with smokers. It is right now at least 50% smokers and 65% if you count the people who will smoke before their high school career is up. We practically encourage it. I mean Fireman’s Field practically condones teen smoking. Teen smoking is defiantly a problem in our school, as well as schools all over the United States. I feel that teen smoking is a huge problem. I feel that too many teenagers smoke cigarettes. It is something that needs to get dealt with. But before I get into that I should probably start with the causes of teen smoking. There are several factors that start teens on smoking cigarettes. There has to be considering that over 1 million new teenagers will start smoking annually. The most common is peer pressure.
