“Human beings have always been pain-avoiding creatures.” We naturally wish to avoid the things we don 't like or bring us pain, all while pursuing the things that bring us pleasure and happiness. This diversion to pain sometimes takes the form of procrastination. However, as we procrastinate, by avoiding the things we oftentimes end up bringing more pain upon ourselves. By letting those unfinished tasks pile up the person will often feel a lower sense of self-worth in their own eyes, and get burdened with feelings of guilt and remorse. Certain kinds of procrastination have severely negative consequences if we don 't take care of the tasks now. For example, patients who procrastinate on coming to the doctor for fear of confirming that they really are sick. Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is very hard to stop procrastinating everything once you have gotten into the habit of doing it. Once I had a term paper due for my religion class. It was to be ten pages long and we were told to spend a lot of time doing it. Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited to the very last minute to do it. I waited until the night before to do most of it. Needless to say, I was up very late that night. In this class there was always a part of the paper due on a certain date before the final paper was due. Having things due before the final paper is due keeps me on task and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your final result will be.

Procrastination is the word that I would use to thoroughly depict people. It’s not that everyone procrastinates, but most people do, and almost everyone has at least once in their lifetime. There have been countless times in my life where I have struggled to stay focused on a task ahead of me. I always plan out my work time ahead in order for me to complete a task, but every time I find that I have to revise my plan every day closer to the deadline. The little work that I should have done each day turns into a tremendous amount of work before the due date. Occupying myself with other things that keep me entertained, only brings me a lot of distress at the end. As I continue to torture myself , this bad habit of mine continous to dwell inside of me. One could say that there may be many implied meanings to this concept, but nevertheless, this force that messes with me everyday is considered to be procrastination.

People all procrastinate at one time or another. Procrastination is the practice of delaying work on important tasks in favor of less challenging ones. As deadlines approach, one often feels frustration and guilt for not starting on a task earlier. We often assume that projects won't take as long to finish as they really will, which often results in a mad scramble to finish the project in the twenty-four hours before the projects deadline.
