Vladimir Putin started his speech from the gratifying and appreciation of Crimean people’s desire for self-determination, calling them ‘’the Russian citizens’’. Despite the calm manner of speech of Vladimir Putin, precisely this speech was really epic, intellectually heavy and emotional. The whole audience was responding to him by emotional applauds and sometimes even standing. This says about the great inspiration and approval because of happening truly historical event. Putin as a really great orator started from the kind and pathetic deepening into the common history of Crimea and Russian Empire, afterwards USSR. Usually such laudatory reminders have a relaxing effect of ecstasy on the auditory. V. Putin reminded about the recipiency of …show more content…
After The Great October Revolution Bolsheviks gave (not returned) to the Ukraine territories of the south of Russia. All these territorial reforms were held without the consideration of the national population of these territories. Even in our Central Asian region there are a lot of misunderstandings that Bolsheviks and then Soviet nomenclature left us: tensions on the Kyrgyzstan – Tajikistan border in the south, tensions between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan about the status of historical city of Bukhara. Similar tensions were brought to the afterwards sovereign Republic of Ukraine and Russian Federation in far 1954 year by the General Secretary of the CPSU – Nikita Khrushchev, who handed the Crimean region and Sevastopol to the Ukrainian Republic. It was not the big deal or territorial problem, because these lands were transiting inside of one huge country. That’s why it was accepted as a trifle formality. The soviet population couldn’t imagine that Russia, Georgia or Kazakhstan separately from the USSR – it was one big united area. But fortunately or unfortunately it happened. ‘’ Millions of people went to bed in one country and awoke in different ones, overnight becoming ethnic minorities in former Union republics, while the Russian nation became one of the biggest, if not the biggest ethnic group in the world to be divided by borders.’’ Problems that were launched decades before surfaced on the surface of political problems’ sea of Russia and Ukraine. But those problems were masked and lulled by the afterwards peaceful policy-making between two states, f.e. – delimitation of borders (by Kuchma’s initiative in 2000), maritime delineation of boundary in the Sea of Azov and the Kerch
In the “George Bush’ Columbia” speech, George W. Bush used a variety of ways in order to make his mark and effectively assemble his dialog. One of the most prominent strategies Mr. Bush used was his sentence structure. He did a great job shaping his speech by initially addressing the problem at hand. He first stated what happened, who it happened to, and gave his condolences to the ones who didn’t make it, along with their families. Mr. Bush also seemed sincere throughout his speech as he made sure to mention each hero apart of the crew. Another technique George W. Bush displayed was the diction and tone he used while delivering the speech. From listening to the audio last week, I remember the passion behind Bush’s words and the sincerity

Vladimir Putin is the elected president of the Russian Federation. The former member of the KGB is known to some as a torturer, a tyrant, and a murderer and is known to have plans to recreate the Soviet Union. While saying that letting Crimea become a part of Russia is giving in to Putin’s communist ideals, Crimea is largely Russian, and is not strategically important to the European Union’s goals. Yanukovich’s (The former Prime Minister of Ukraine) security forces fired upon and killed dozens of protestors. He was ousted ...
The night before the anniversary of 9/11 in 2013, Barack Obama delivered a speech to the United States of America on the subject of Syria’s inhumane use of chemical weapons on its own citizens. The United States’ intelligence analysts estimated that more than 1,400 civilians were killed due to the chemical warheads that were launched on the area right outside of Damascus. In President Barack Obama’s address to the nation on Syria, he attempts to persuade the American people to support his plan of a targeted air strike on Syria. By describing the victims of Syria, giving reasons for the inhumanity of the Syrian government, and reinforcing his credibility,
With the fall of the pro-Russian government Russia had lost basically a very important ally to the European Union and NATO. President Vladimir Putin took a great risk and invaded Crimea that resulted in strong reactions from the West. Even Russia’s closest allies supported the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
In this paper I am going to discuss the rhetorical appeals, as well as the argumentative structure, audience and purpose set forth by George W. Bush in his September 27 speech in Flagstaff, Arizona. More specifically I will refer to the rhetorical appeals of ethos, pathos and logos, and explain how they are used to gain the support and attention of the audience and further the further the purpose of the speech. As I explain these appeals I will also give an insight into the argumentative structure and why it is apparent in this particular speech.

(Hobsbawm, 1995, p. 84) To some the revolution may not seem as important, to Hobsbawm it is a pivotal moment in the history, as it ‘changed the world… in the way that [no one] expected. When Russians talk about the war of 1812 they do not mean the war in which Washington was burned by the British, but the war in which, apparently, the Russians burned Moscow. This war between the French republican empire and the Russian Tsarist Empire was as remarkable a high - spot in the history of the latter as it was a low - spot in the history of Napoleon. For Russia, it was one of those rare moments in history when almost all people, serfs and lords, merchants and bureaucrats, put aside their enmities and realized that they were all Russians. Russia, sometimes called ‘a state without a people’, seemed to become, for a few precious months, one people, and never quite forgot the experience.
With humble beginnings, as Vladimir himself put it in his autobiography, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was born October 7th, 1952, within St. Petersburg, Russia. Raised by his mother Maria, who was a factory worker, and his father Vladimir, who was a conscript. Putin was dead set on joining the KGB, the Committee for State Security. In his autobiography he says he was “a pure and utterly successful product of Soviet patriotic education.” But he also says that most of this “notion of the KGB came from romantic spy stories” In short, he never knew what he was getting into. To follow...
Christians are being persecuted more than ever and its time we put an end to it. Donald Trump gives a look into Christians in Syria, “You look at Syria, where if you’re Christian they are chopping off heads” (Trump). As a country we need to group together under Christianity because we are not unified. In Donald Trump’s video at Liberty University, he discusses how Christianity is under siege and we need to unite as a country and take back Christian principles. Many other topics are discussed during this video. Trump touches upon how we have a weak general who is not willing to attack ISIS, which is not good for our country. I believe that Trump is very influential and effective with the speech he delivers. He uses quite a few strong appeals and direct quotations from the Bible that relates to Liberty University where he is delivering this speech. Liberty University is a
Trotsky’s oratorical and literary skills were impeccable tools in gaining prominence prior to the Russian Revolution; his passionate oratory roused audiences and swept away his opponents. Bertrand Patenaude, “one of the most careful critics among recent biographers stated that Trotsky himself was able to win over “vast crowds of workers, soldiers, and sailors in Petrograd with his spellbinding oratory” in 1917. Trotsky soon became invaluable to Lenin who also intended for a Social Revolution within Russia since Trotsky "spoke everywhere simultaneously”. Additionally, through Lenin’s encouragement, Trotsky wrote for the Marxist newspaper, Iskra Trotsky gave a public speech in Whitechapel, debating with Russian exiles. This was one of the many speeches that was soon to give him popularity within Russia, driven by the Lenin’s motive to ‘whip the street with his voice’ as a means of consolidating early Bolshevik power. The notion that Trotsky’s oratorical and literary skill allowed him to rise to prominence and soon the highest of offices can be underlined through Trotsky’s own ...
Crimea’s history with Russia begins in 1783, when it became an annexed state (Taylor). However, to most of those within the western sphere of schooling most commonly learn about Crimea from the Crimean war. It occurred from 1853 to 1856 and involved Russia, Sardinia, France, Britain, and the Ottoman Empire. After three years of arduous fighting Russia eventually lost the war, but it did manage the keep the treasured peninsula. After the fall of the Russian Empire, in 1921 Crimea became “ The Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic” and unquestionably part of the Soviet Union. In the following decades, Crimea much like the rest of Europe endured the strain of the Second World War, but surprisingly in 1945 it was gifted from Russia to the Ukraine. According to Taylor, there are a couple of possi...
Furthermore, the Ukraine and Russia have always shared a history; as both states are embodiments of the process of transformation, that have risen from the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the end of the Cold War. The Ukraine’s material legacy is demographically and territorially close to Russia, thereby, tying the Ukraine to Russia.
There have been over 42,000 gun violence incidents in the United States, resulting in nearly 11,000 deaths (Gun). For a long time the Second Amendment has been up for debate, even though it is one of the rights the Founding Fathers put in place. Back when Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson decided upon that right, guns were not as complex and powerful as they are today. With such advancements, does this amendment need to be reevaluated? When it is time for a new president to be elected, one of the first questions asked by the press is what their position is on gun control. Many people are passionate about this topic and they typically take one of two sides. They either get highly offended about the thought of the government taking away
