My choices for the set were chosen for two overarching reasons: sparsity and space. In a play like Macbeth, where the plot is almost ingrained in our conscience, the stage should be set in such a way that it provides structure for the actors to work upon. In short, the stage should not impair the actors by being over complicated and distracting the audience. Rather the stage should empower the actors and show the evolution of their characters. In order to do this, I have kept the stage simple, with a large central platform and a smaller platform on the side.
