The exploration of space is a noble pursuit in the confines of bringing us forward as a species. To reach ends of the cosmos that our ancestors could only dream of, if they even knew such cosmos even existed at the time. However, there are many predicaments that need to be settled if we are to take this giant leap into potentially expanding our world to that of Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, etc. These come down to the unification of our nations to meet this goal, the measures we should take to restrain ourselves from the harvesting of all the resources we can find, and the obvious technological need to get us there. However, out of these major walls in the way of our grand venture how we choose to harness such a power is our most important concern. With how we treat our Earth shouldn't we be just as scared as to how we could doom other planets? …show more content…
Our emissions of carbon are tearing apart our ozone, we hunt other animals to the point of extinction affecting food chains of other species in the process. The writer in Source E, McLean tells us the importance we should all have congruently between nations for us taking the role as "stewards" for our galaxy. The notion of this being that since us, beings who have transcended on solely our own planet should take the idea of stewardship and treating every planet with the goal of keeping it the same or even bettering it in terms of it's condition. Source A also fosters this idea but in the way of balancing the resources we come across our solar system to healthily benefit our own planet. We are also warned about this being dangerous to us if we don't unite between nations to discern common grounds for what we are allowed to
For some reason, NASA is just perfectly fine with watching men and women die right in front of them on their own computer screens. The man has been stuck up on Mars for 687 sols. That is 708 days in earth terms. Yes, he is the first person on to not only live, but survive on Mars for 708 days. That gives his hometown some huge publicity and major fame. All of this could have been avoided though. Mark could not gotten severely hurt during the mission. Mark could not have died multiple times while living on Mars. He could have not had to travel with one rover and all the way to the MAV. He could have not lived on limited water, while almost killing himself trying to create more water, while trying to maintain
Topic: Addiction to social media General Purpose: To persuade Specific purpose: To persuade my audience that social media is hurting us mentally and our social lives. Thesis: Social media can cause serious problems to you and your health, so we need to put addiction to social media to rest. I. Introduction A. Attention-getter: The ages of 55 and 64 year olds who use social media fell “worried or uncomfortable” when they can’t access any type of social media accounts (Wright, 2015).
Specific Purpose Statement: I would like to inform and condense the topic of space exploration into two major branches. These branches are unmanned and manned spaceflight.
Space travel isn’t worth the money we have been spending. Kennedy wanted to do more space travel, but I don’t think space travel is necessary. In Kennedy’s speech he talked about how we have to seek the unknown and find out what we don’t know. Kennedy was talking about space, but what about the ocean? We really don’t know that much about it and I think we should learn more about the earth we live on.
Space is the final frontier, but many people ask what considerations we should act upon when claiming it. When Neil Armstrong first stepped on to the moon people around the world cheered in awe of the impossible. The Space Race had brought about a competition between the super powers of the world, Russia and the United States, in order to complete a political and scientific endeavor. However, in the rush of who could put a man on the moon first, between two fiercely democratic and communist nations, some issues were put aside to be dealt with after the initial infancy of space
As a country we need to start investing more money and research into space technology. Programs currently exist for this effort, but the potential for research and progress is limited by a lack of funding; compared to other government funded programs, aerospace funding is pitiful. Continued research in space technology is a necessary step in our growth and development not just as a country but also as entire human race. If we are to achieve this goal, it is necessary to increase funding for space research and technology and consider the possibility of colonizing outer space. If we limit our existence to the planet Earth, and continue to drain the resources on this planet, we will destroy the only home we have.
When talking about the current space program, Neil Degrasse Tyson once said, “I got angry with America, because advancing is not just something you do incrementally. You need innovation as well, so that your advances are revolutionary, not merely evolutionary” (Tyson 3). America used to have the top space program in the world. Being first to the moon excited the country and gave everyone a sense of pride and fulfillment. Lately, though, we have been falling behind in space exploration. A successful space program is needed in America, and here’s why: we are losing our grip on the title as the world superpower and a new age of economics and politics is coming faster than we are prepared for. To be prepared for this new age we need the funds,
Humans have dreamed of leaving the earth and traveling space for many years, and up to this day they have taken many steps in the right direction. Yet, with every new frontier they approach, new problems loom over the horizon. All problems involved with space exploration may not directly involve space itself. Many of those problems surface right here on Earth. Some of the easier issues have been resolved, such as escaping the forces of gravity to reach outer space. More of these problems are far more arduous and the solutions need more time to be worked out properly. In “The Coming Schism” by James E. and Alcestis R. Oberg, humans have already begun colonizing space, yet there are still new problems arising. Major problems such as financing, communication and culture conflicts are important in the journey to space, because they all have the potential to disrupt progress.
It is within man’s blood and nature to explore, and space is our next New World. Man’s first achievement in space travel was the launch of the Sputnik on October 4, 1957. For the next decades, space travel was roaring like a rocket, fueled by man’s desire to explore, man’s desire for knowledge, and man’s desire to beat his enemies. However, these impulses have died out as the well of government funding has been diverted to wars and debts, and the interest of the American people has been diverted to wars and debts. Amidst all these issues it is debated as to whether or not space travel is worth the money and the attention of scientists, particularly since humanity faces so many issues on earth currently. However, because of the past inventions, current services, and future benefits, space travel is indeed worth the money and attention of governments and people. It is within our hands to control man’s advancement, and space travel is the next venue to do so.
Since the beginning of time, mankind has sought after learning about and exploring the universe. This yearning drove us to achieve such great things as the journey to the moon and the discovery of water on mars. Nowadays, several people argue as to whether or not space exploration is worth the effort. I believe that it is humanity’s instinctual nature to pursue a better understanding of ourselves, and our universe. Further understanding of our universe will lead to the discovery of new technologies and ways to secure humanity’s survivability. As such, this essay will argue that space exploration is a necessity to our kind and that NASA should be progressively more financed.
Space, the next frontier between us humans and the great unknown. As humans, we’ve always had a deep fascination with space, from the early days of the Greek philosophers who theorized what could be out there, to modern day efforts involving organizations such as N.A.S.A. and the E.S.A. However, since the 1960’s, back in the era of the Cold War and the Space Race, there has been a falling out on support for space exploration. Multitudes of space-exploration based organizations have received budget-cuts from their supporting governments along with reduced donations from public figures. Many believe that since we got a man on the moon and since we have satellites up and running in space our quest to dominate space is over, but these statements

“Between 2000 and 2011, distracted walking led to more than 11,000 injuries in the U.S.” Distracted walking has become a serious and dangerous problem in the United States. Some people think the solution is to make it illegal. Others think that people should just use common sense. In the article, “Would You Ban Texting and Walking?” writer from Scope Magazine, Kristen Lewis, states the facts. Therefore, texting while walking should be illegal.
Space exploration can lead to the possibility to find useful resources throughout the galaxy for human gain. Many severe problems on earth could be solved through space exploration such as world hunger, overpopulation, and dwindling fuel sources. Things such as fuel could be harvested from planets for power generation and propulsion technology, and land to cultivate for growing food, as well as land for building living areas for the growing population. These potential resources...
