In the world and space, are countless places undiscovered. Within those unknown discoveries are the unknown potential left to be found, except others might presume the risk would be to great. In addition, the true cost of exploration is undetermined due to the countless and endless galaxies and planets within the milky way. Space travel, if enhanced through the years, could be possible if handled correctly. The most controversial topic about space exploration is whether it should be funded by the government more than other government related programs, which could be more of a benefit. Given the circumstances, space exploration would be highly risky and tremendous financially, the potential results of the exploration would contribute tremendously …show more content…
New methods for designs, medicine, school, etc, related to space are being created; In addition, to more advanced teaching methods with the use of chromebooks and phones for school work and school related activities. This current generation has the potential to extend the understanding of space travel and its discoverers; except, due to the fact that very few school programs offer such to their students. The possibility of space travel in the future is one of the keys to engaging future generations in their education. Their education could benefit the future careers within space exploration, which would further advance the future of the upcoming generation as a whole. As Livingston David says: ( Source A), ” It’s about how we live here on Earth together and what type of future we want for ourselves and children…, we can give hope and provide inspiration for our youngsters to grow up, do the schoolwork, and accept the challenges that await them to make our world even better.“ This connects through the fact that if others want to have a future for themselves and their children, then promoting their education will have tremendous results especially if they enhance their education on space and all of its perks. The reason being is, if space travel was to be better developed and have more scientist working within the program, technology can be created …show more content…
Ultimately, the decision will come to a result due to the financial cost of it throughout the years to come. Those who are against space exploration utilize the financial cost as a key component as an irresistible argument against it, since investments involved within the programs already are exceeding the cost financially. Although this might be true, the value or price of these programs can be altered to have stability within its research and projects, to subsequently expand other schemes that could enhance space exploration. To begin with, just with any government program it is funded by the government itself, this is due to the fact that within these categories further develop the technology for the government from medicine all the way to communications. An insight of how much cost goes within these categories of the programs can be seen in ( Source C). As the graph demonstrates, only ” $0.03“ of a federal dollar is spent on veteran benefits and transportation, along with ” $0.04“ on education training. In contrast, where ” $0.21“ is spent on just social security alone, which is still more than the last three variety combined. Nevertheless, this can be modified to alternate how much is invested into federal programs. With these actions, along with proper transactions and rehabilitating correctly, the funding could transfer to
Space exploration needs advancing scientific research, more machineries and equipments which means that it would cost us a lot of
The benefits derived from NASA’s work over the last five decades have been tremendous. Future generations will continue to benefit from the many discoveries led by NASA and their space research. The risks of reducing funding for NASA and halting its existence are great, as it is unknown what the next discovery will be and its impact on the USA and the world. The true potential of space research can only be realized by continuing to fund NASA.
These are the reasons why I believe there should be more investment in space research and technology. It would be a time consuming and financially draining quest, but the pay off in new technology, applications, resources, and expansion opportunities make it a goal to strive for. As our rate of consumption of Earth’s natural resources continues to increase, it is imperative that we invest in the research of outer space as a possible solution to sustaining the human race.
The Sputnik making it into space was what really got all these students really involved in learning about space. In schools today, you can open pretty much any science textbook and find a chapter about space. You can open a history textbook and find the Space Race. This event has lasted and keeps on counting because it could be the future many people believe. It is something that affects many people's everyday life. There scientist, engineers, and astronauts that spend their lives learning and working on the topic of space. If the space race never happened, these jobs wouldn’t exist, everything would be different because we would not have
To understand and appreciate why space exploration should be continued, its achievements must be revealed. The science behind space exploration impacts so much more than one might have originally assumed. According to Kristen Kumar, “Important technology areas that have been impacted by space exploration research include; human health, space power and energy storage, life support and communication and navigation” (Kumar, 2011, p. 195). All of the things listed above have been the focus of the space program, and the results produced have been significant technological advances. Some of the most beneficial innovations have been a direct result of space exploration research, enhancing human life, society and the economy. The importance of Space Exploration has been often overlooked and undermined, but that does not change what it has done for the wo...
It is within man’s blood and nature to explore, and space is our next New World. Man’s first achievement in space travel was the launch of the Sputnik on October 4, 1957. For the next decades, space travel was roaring like a rocket, fueled by man’s desire to explore, man’s desire for knowledge, and man’s desire to beat his enemies. However, these impulses have died out as the well of government funding has been diverted to wars and debts, and the interest of the American people has been diverted to wars and debts. Amidst all these issues it is debated as to whether or not space travel is worth the money and the attention of scientists, particularly since humanity faces so many issues on earth currently. However, because of the past inventions, current services, and future benefits, space travel is indeed worth the money and attention of governments and people. It is within our hands to control man’s advancement, and space travel is the next venue to do so.
Although it might answer many questions, space exploration comes at a high price. Based on data from the video “5 Ways Space Travel Affects the Human Body”, the NASA budget in 2007 was $16.3 billion. Some valid points were made in the article “The Space Race is a Pointless Waste of Money” by Jerry DeGroot. He stated “...seems like lunacy when terrestrial frontiers such as disease, starvation and drought cry out for cash.” We must solve these problems before we start to explore for fun.
NASA’s research and innovation looked promising, but it came at a cost. Money, resources, and spacecraft accidents, most famously Apollo 13 all hindered NASA’s research. In the 21st century, the debate over funding for NASA is at its peak since the birth of the organization in 1958, especially when there are numerous problems throughout the world. Is the money spent on space exploration worth the advantages and advances it contributes to society? When considering this topic, one might ask themselves, why explore space?
As such, this essay will argue that space exploration is a necessity of our kind and that NASA should be progressively more financed. To begin with, space research has helped bring several developments to modern science, affecting the quality of our everyday lives. With issues like climate change, and population overgrowth, our species faces the risks of major extinction (4). Climate change has been a man-made problem in recent years that threatens our planet. It will take huge mitigations from current and future societies to even come close to reversing climate change.
In America, space travel is a controversial issue that many discuss. Although exciting, some people find it unnecessary and a waste of money. There are also many risks associated with space travel and many issues are more important than space travel that should be focused on. There are ethical, diplomatic, and economic issues that need to be considered before making decisions about space exploration.
Mankind has always been fascinated with exploring the unknown. From sailing to distant lands to someday setting foot on other planets, the spirit of exploration is the same. Bur now with the current economic situation and the high cost of sending people to space, NASA is being looked at as a way to free up some much needed funds. Although, there is many problems here on planet Earth that need addressing, the benefits of space exploration far out weight the disadvantages. Space exploration has given us more advanced technology, advances in the medical field, and a boost to the economy and these facts cannot be disputed.
“Why should we go into space? What is the justification for spending all the effort and money on getting a few lumps of moon rocks? Aren’t there better causes here on Earth?”- Stephen Hawking. Space is the everlasting, ever growing place where we happen to reside. From the beginning of intelligent life here on Earth, we have wanted to learn. Whether it be simply constructing a fire, or solving the riddles that still puzzle us to this day. Many of the questions we still have are pertaining to space. Are we alone? How did we get here? Where are we going? Many answers can come from exploring space. Getting a “few lumps of moon rock” can answer so many questions we asked ourselves for millennia. Can we truly belong in a place we do not know about? Space exploration will better us now and in the future for several reasons.
The 1960's brought new advancements for all of Earth. Machines and men were sent into space, and this sparked a new government agency, called NASA. Space was a new frontier, and virtually everyone was interested in exploring it. Over the years, the interest in space exploration has weakened, and NASA was almost terminated from existence, although there have been many advancements in it over that time. Space exploration should continue because it could help solve many problems on Earth, such as overpopulation and lack of resources. Exploration of the final frontier must continue in order for human life to continue.
Most people think that the costly downside to funding space exploration is a reason to avoid spending money on sciences and instead spend it on problems here on earth, but such funding for space exploration actually promotes economical as well as scientific benefits. Space exploration is an important expenditure for the high cost because of the potential for numerous benefits such as the possibility to find useful resources to cultivate, space exploration and satellites produce many thousands of jobs in our economy, and it creates and discovers newer and better technologies through research and development.
Overall, the Astronomy conversation was a success. Sharing of information led to new ideas and a great discussion on the future of space travel. All participants learned something new about the future of space travel. Last, it was obvious that regardless of age, education, or professional background, people are interested and excited about the future of space travel.
