Why space debris?
Because that the space is getting messy. Space trash is a big problem. The amount of debris orbiting keep growing ever single year. disrupting satellites and occasionally putting astronauts in harm’s way. if the problem gets severe enough, it should eventually make low-earth orbit unusable. Since 1970s, some scientists have been worrying about the space debris.

The Sputnik I was only the size of a beach ball, it only weighed 183.9 lbs., and it was the marker for the “space race” between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. However, little is known, or at least in regards to public awareness, about the celestial landfill that man has created since the early days of the Space Race involving the Russian launching of Sputnik.
