Have you ever been come face to face with one of the most dangerous things on Earth? Both “Being Prey” and “Sound Of Thunder” create a thrilling conflict and climax through foreshadowing. As well the authors create suspense with an ominous setting to create climaxes that keep the reader reading. The setting of Prey and Thunder are very foreshadowing and ominous. For example “Being Prey”, Val Plumwood had went to a forest in Australia and had been attacked by a crocodile from going on the main channel that she was told not to go on which resulted in her feeling like something is watching her while there’s a storm and almost dying. Also in “Sound Of Thunder” Eckles goes time traveling to hunt a dinosaur. Which ended up in him going challenging

Imagery makes a piece of work more realistic and helps the reader to visualise and experience the author’s writing in depth. An example of imagery is when Hathorn writes “Running and running through the forest up into the hills, effortlessly, gliding over rocks and bushes. Almost flying ……..She reached upwards to the empty air. She tried to call his name but the cry froze in her throat” .In this example, the author creates a mental image of Lara and Thunderwith by using descriptive words such as gliding and flying which makes the authors writing more realistic.
“A Sound of Thunder” is a story by Ray Bradbury about a man named Eckles that wants to hunt something other than regular animals, so him and a group of people travel back in time to hunt dinosaurs. The leader of the group told all of the people to stay on the floating path when they got there so they don’t kill any plants or insects that could change what happens in the future. Eckles got scared when he saw the dinosaur so he went off the path. When the group got back to the present time the group they found out that they had a different president, that was like a dictator. The leader of the group saw that Eckles stepped on a butterfly. After that the leader shot and killed Eckles. Some of the allusion in “A Sound of Thunder” were when Mr. Travis said, “Christ isn’t born yet” (1029), he also says, “Washington might not cross the Delaware, there might never be a United States at all” (1030), and the last allusion is referencing to the butterfly effect.
The religious procession, with their full regalia and stoic expressions, belied the emotions that were surely heavy laden. Their slow, methodical pilgrimage hinted that they were beginning what would ultimately be a funeral procession. The brave young men, escorted by their elder counterparts, were led to slaughter much like sacrificial lambs. The fact that they were escorted sends the message that they were truly doomed, much like prisoners being led to their executions. Finally, the awful silence radiated throughout the land.
In Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game”, he uses several literary devices to keep the reader interested. During Rainsfords journey to and through the island of General Zaroff he partakes in an adventurous journey filled with mystery, suspense, and dilemma. These devices are used to keep the reader interested throughout the story.
The setting in the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” has many similarities and differences to the setting in “The Interlopers”. Though the settings differ in many ways, for example the danger of them and their contents, they are also similar in their mystery and vitality to the plot. These two pieces of writing hold many of the same ideas, but they also are original works that portray them in their own way.
There are large amounts of foreshadowing in the film The Sixth Sense. Some people might only catch a few. He has hunted many things like tigers, wild boars and elephants but has never hunted something like this. In his excitement he, "waved a check for ten thousand dollars to the man behind the desk" and was ready for his safari (Bradbury 1). He showed confidence
These two scenarios from Anglo-Saxon and modern times are similar, as well. They are similar because of the continuity of “monsters” terrorizing a society being a great influence among audiences of the past and present. The two works of both eras demonstrate the continual interest in defeating villains and “feeding” it’s listeners with tales such as these.
The Silence of the Lambs is a horror thriller film, directed by Jonathan Demme in 1991, which features Dr Hannibal Lecter; a serial killer psychopath. The film’s trailer showcases the prominence of violence, and the fear it instills into its responders through the codes and conventions of the thriller genre. Although many conventions contribute to the trailers overall effect, it is the film techniques which seem to have the greatest influence, however without the contributions of the trailer’s setting, tone and characterisation the lasting effect would be severely lessened.
