To me Jet Black Heart is an escape from the troubles in my world and from what is killing me on the inside. The song makes feel somewhat at peace and that it's alright to not to be alright. The pre-chorus' lyrics are very moving, it makes me feel normal and like someone knows and understands what I'm going through at the moment, like they care and want to help in anyway they can.
That's just on the lyrics, the way it's sang has such a big part in it. In the pre-chorus there is so much emotion put into it that when the chorus comes in it just work together so well. Especially in the second verse and in the bridge you can hear how much was put into it and how much this song means to them. Definitely the first and last Chorus, 2nd Verse and the Bridge are the most emotional and influential part of the whole song.

Carry On is about how everything will be okay, that it will get better and to just live in the good times. This song is mainly vocals and that is all that it needed to become a terrific song. Every single one of those boys has a unique voice that goes so well with one
It mainly uses metaphors and similes. For example, the song says “The air around me still feels like a cage.” This song also uses several cases of religious symbolism and other poetic elements throughout it. This song has really weird rhyming patterns. However, they really help the flow of the song and emphasize certain parts.
Although the lyrics have nothing to do with what I feel for this song (it is a romantic song), this was a song that I heard throughout my childhood and it became a big part of my life since then. 2.
The simplicity of the lyrics allows for the audience to completely understand each word, which speak directly to their emotions causing a feeling of personal connection between the song and the listeners. For example, the song starts
Some songs are so well known that whoever you meet, they can sing them. “Don’ Stop Believin’”, “Another Brick in the Wall Part 2”, “Tiny Dancer”, “Come Sail Away”; these songs helped define a generation, and another great example of that is Kansas’ “Carry On Wayward Son” (1976). This song is a song that virtually everyone can recognize and even sing along to. Inside the lyrics to this song is a myriad of images that people have been fighting over their overall meaning for a long time. But what many people never notice is the correlation that this song has with the aftermath of natural disasters, and how people deal with the issues that arise from the disaster.
In this song there can be many themes, but one that stood out was that the people and events in one’s life shape them for the future. This could be for better or for worse, but in his case it all worked out. A big event that is known to have changed his life for the better sadly was his brother’s death. This event made him notice that a life of crime wasn’t for him. Another major aspect of his life is his mother, especially since he dedicated this song to her. In this song to tell us about what his
This song talks a lot about the baggage of the past that people hold onto instead of letting it go. All that baggage is only going to end up hurting you more and more instead of helping you in any way possible. An example is the opening
Mayer’s pop is much more laid back and relaxed compared to other songs in the same genre. The singer’s preferred instrument, the guitar, sets the mood for the song. The guitar riffs and chords have a more soothing sound, while the drums beating in the background of “Heartless” provide a steady pulse that entrances the listener. Alternating between high and low chords, the song “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” depicts the concluding moments between a man and a woman who are together, but know their relationship is coming to an end. West’s song shows a relationship where the individuals have gone their separate ways, while Mayer portrays the two desperately holding onto each other. Within the song, the love between the couple is presented in the verse, “My dear, we’re slow dancing in a burning room.” The act of slow dancing signifies a tender and special moment which the couple continues to hold onto until the imminent end. The act also indicates the hopeless indulgence in the inevitable. The two are so invested in what once was, they refuse to acknowledge the room that is their relationship crashing around them. Kanye’s “Heartless” depicts a mature approach, rather than holding onto something that no longer exists, the couple accepts the fate and separates. Mayer’s work mixes the reflection of both good and bad moments, representing the highs and lows of relationships. The love the couple once had for each other is portrayed in the verse, “I was the one you always dreamed of, you were the one I tried to draw, how dare you say it's nothing to me, baby, you're the only light I ever saw.” The tumultuous fighting presented in the verse, "You try to hit me just to hurt me so you leave me feeling dirty," reveals the tensions and aggression in the romance. "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" embodies the sadness Mayer felt towards the downfall of his long-term relationship. “Heartless” illustrates

To me this song is saying that we should praise God because He cares about every single detail in our lives. I see this as a reminder that God cares about
This song to me has many different historical and cultural contexts. To start with the historical context, this song has many components that are involved with the history of rock and roll. The first thing that comes to my mind about this song is that, because of the different types of music that are in this song it is clearly from current period of rock and roll. When I say current period I mean starting in the 1980s or so and onward. In the 1980s rock and roll took on a heavier sounding voice, bands such as Metallica, The Grateful Dead and many others emerged during this time. This song contains many of the same elements as those other artist music. Then in the 1980s along with the 1990s rap and hip-hop began to take off. Rap and hip-hop
Its primary focus is on the words and guitar riff, which allows the meaning of the song to shine. By changing their style, CSNY showcased the song’s significance. Notably, Young – the song’s writer – is
For this assignment, the song I chose was "Awake My Soul" by the band Mumford and Sons. I picked this particular song because I am a huge fan of this band and their songs. Mumford & Sons are an English folk rock band who formed in 2007. The band has released two albums as of 2013, “Sigh No More”(2009) and “Babel”(2012). In December 2010, the band received two Grammy Award nominations, one for Best New Artist and the other for Best Rock Song. They won the Brit Award in 2011 for Best British Album. I find the lyrics of "Awake My Soul" beautifully placed and poetic. Mumford and Sons are known for their lyrically complex style of writing and unique folk sound; their intricate melodies and lyrics full of literary allusions. Their music has a familiar comfort to it but a unique perspective. I love the utter simplicity and wisdom of the messages portrayed throughout many of their songs; arranged in a way that makes one appreciate the beautiful combination of music and lyrics working together.
As I just said, my friends and I all have such a carefree attitude, the song “I hope
These songs, the way the lyrics, harmonies, and music all fit together to make me forgot all of my problems. I began to use my free time to create a different playlist for every possible emotion I could possibly be feeling. When I feel like nothing in the world can stop me, I blast the Eagles greatest hits out of my jeep window. When I feel like everything in this earth is out to get me, I play my emotional country music role models. From George Strait, to Tim Mcgraw, to Faith Hill, to Garth Brooks, these songs have dragged me out of the deepest holes I ever fell into. Instead of lashing out on the world whenever life does not go my way, I choose to shut the world out and listen to Frank Sinatra, Mumford and Sons, Coldplay, and pretty much anyone else who had anything positive to say to
