Friendship. Halley, from “Someone Like You” by Sarah Dessen, is Friendship. Halley is brave. Halley is strong and helpful for her friend Scarlett. Halley is friendship because she helps her friend Scarlett when she is sad, sick or just needs it. I think that Halley is very respectful to Scarlett and I hope to be as caring to my friends as Halley is to hers. Halley has many other traits to her. Helpful, caring are just two personal traits she has, plus much more. I think the one she is most is friendship, loving because she helps her friend Scarlett when she needs it most. I think Halley has lots of traits because she has a fun personality. I think what makes Halley different is that she is quieter,

She has a best friend, and that is all she needs. Until her grandma died, which in the book Halley had said “I’d always been close to my Grandma Halley”, her friend is pregnant, she gets a boyfriend, and a boy that her friend liked died, which was implausible. Halley never thought her life would end up like this. It felt like she walked through a bad luck portal. She had all these things happen to her, she made bad choices, lied to her parents, snuck out at night, she got into a car accident with her boyfriend driving and now is helping her friend deliver a baby, even when Scarlett almost capitulated. All these things are going through her head, until she dumps her boyfriend and her friend delivers the baby, everything has changed. Her life is still different, but she still has her best friend and her friends baby to count on when she needs them the most. In conclusion, I think that Halley is mostly friendship because of how loyal and thoughtful she is to Scarlett. Scarlett is also very respectful to Halley, because she is her friend, but is also friendship because she cares about Halley and doesn’t want anything to happen to her. Halley and Scarlett are both the word friendship because how caring they are to each other. You could describe Halley in many different words, but the one I think of most is
Friendship is a necessity throughout life whether it is during elementary school or during adulthood. Some friendships may last a while and some may last for a year; it depends on the strength of the bond and trust between the two people. In the novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles, the main characters, Gene and Finny, did not have a pure friendship because it was driven by envy and jealousy, they did not feel the same way towards each other and they did not accurately understand each other.
To begin with, according to Lucius Annaeus Seneca, “One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood”. Even this quote explains that true friendship is when an individual stands for another individual. In the novel Of Mice and Men, author John Steinbeck examine the idea of friendship between two migrant ranch worker even when there was difficulties. Through the character of Slim and George, author Steinbeck illustrates friendship and reveals that friendships stand up for each other even when is difficult time.
It is the bond between close friends, where one is willing to lend a hand to the other in times of need. In this film, the characters who best represent this are Rhonda and Muriel. Their friendship is built on common interests and support for each other. This is particularly evident in the scene on Hibiscus Island, where Ronda and Muriel are singing ABBA songs and are watching the night sky.
Friendship is an unbreakable bond between two people and contains loyalty and love. In the story Chains, Isabel finds herself in grand friendships that play throughout the story. She showed how devoted she was towards Lady Lockton, Curzon, and Ruth by being there for them during tough times. In the end, friendship is the light through the darkness, powerful and important.
Jeannette is a major character and protagonist. She is a round, dynamic character, and the memoir focuses on her development and maturity. Due to her forgiving nature, she is Rex Wall's favorite daughter. Despite her father's destructive nature, she chooses to be optimistic and positive. Through her early childhood she chooses to ignore her father's drunken episodes, and thinks of him as a loving father and an excellent teacher of the wild. By the time she reaches her junior year of high school, she realizes the indisputable flaws that her father has. She uses her intelligence to eventually move away from her parents and Welch. She is a natural forgiver and it shows even when she moves away from her parents.
In A Separate Peace, I would classify the relationship between Finny and Gene to be a friendship. Even though they both have had their ups and downs, they rely on each other and are both able to confide in one another about their thoughts, beliefs, and opinions. They also have many differences between them, but also some more vague or general similarities as well, which brought them together.
start of Jeanette?s backbone. She grew from that friendship and realized strengths within herself other then the religious aspects.
Has someone ever come into your life that you know will always be there for you? Someone who the mere thought of makes you smile? For me that person came into my life seven years ago the form of a girl named Grace. Take one move between cities, two color runs, three camping trips, and a whole lot of weekend sleepovers and you’ve got an unbreakable friendship. In the film, Holes, the director Andrew Davis teaches us that friendship can help you achieve and accomplish amazing things. The importance of friendship is illustrated in the film Holes by Stanley and Hector, as well in my own life by my friend Grace always being there for me.
We see this with Owen Meany when John tells us that Owen “gave me more than he ever took from me” (A Prayer for Owen Meany 2.509-511). Even with the death of John’s mother at the hands of Owen these too prove to be the best of friends. A friend is someone who is “A positive influence on your life” (What is Friendship? Friendship.about.com), this friendship proves this theory by the boys helping John finding his identity and Owen’s destiny. Along with friendship in the novel we see the importance of family and the role that it plays throughout the novel.
John Knowles had the reader interested throughout this whole novel. This novel showed how friendship is sometimes valued most through tragedy. Tragedy occurs when even a person does not mean to cause harm. A person will never truly value their friendship except through tragedy. Gene and Finny had created their "separate peace." Creating peace between them helped them get through their tough times when tragedy struck.
From one personality to another, Henry from the movie, Regarding Henry, has his life flipped upside down when an unexpected event puts him in the hospital and changes his life forever. Henry is a top corporate lawyer that contains a Superego personality which involves him demanding and insisting help with his job and work. As he finishes a case in court, Henry decides to go get some cigarettes at a nearby convenience store, but the store is being held up by a robber. As a result, Henry is demanded to give the robber his money but decides not to give it up; therefore, Henry is shot at point blank. The doctor at the hospital where Henry is located states that Henry will not be the same as before. Due to the diagnosis, Henry’s personality switches from Superego to an Id
Steven McCornack, the author of “Reflect & Relate” describes friendship as “a voluntary interpersonal relationship characterized by intimacy and liking.” (McCornack, 355). As Cady begun high school, she quickly made real friends with Janis and Damian. The friendship wasn’t necessarily driven by shared interest at first because Cady was new girl to the school, who loved math and shy, while Janis and Damian are outspoken, love art, and don’t quite fit. But, they develop a shared interest when they are trying to take Regina George down, they meet every day after to create plans, Cady shares everything that Regina does or say and they find it funny. This produces an agentic friendship and communal friendship between Cady, Janis and Damian because they help each other achieve a common goal, such as ruining Regina’s life, but they are also invested on spending time with each other, doing activities like watching movies, eating lunch together and they provide emotional support when needed. Janis and Damian also accept Cady has she is, they didn’t try to change her, and were very hurt when Cady blew them off to throw a house party, which she didn’t even invite them too. A Cross-Oriented friendship is displayed between Janis and Damian because Damian is gay and Janis is a woman. It doesn’t damage their relationship because Janis accepts and supports Damian, she evens makes little remarks that Damian isn’t offended by
In reviewing my top strengths in the Survey of Character Strengths, there are four items that stand out for me and they are spirituality, hope, fairness and caution.
Friendship is the most wonderful relationship that anyone can have. Ideally a friend is a person who offers love and respect and will never leave or betray us. Friends can tell harsh truths when they must be told. There are four different types of friends: True friends, Convenient friends, Special interest friends, and historical friends. To have friendship is to have comfort. In times of crisis and depression, a friend is there to calm us and to help lift up our spirits.
In life we come across many people. Some will hate us while others will adore us. The ones who hate us can be referred to as enemies and the ones who show us adoration are referred to as friends. There are three types of friends. They are the aquaintinces we make in school, the friends we loose as one grows, and best friends who may stray, but never too far away.
