Music is not something new, there are artists that come out with latest hits. But do they know the history behind the lyrics that they artists are throwing across. Do they know the history of that piece? There is the song “someday soon” that if researched and listen to, there is a story behind it along with it a history. Throughout the lyrics of the song “someday soon” the words “someday soon, goin’ with him someday soon”. So, the question “will she be with him someday soon” the answer is yes because along with those repeated lines, in the lyrics of “someday soon” it says, “I would follow him right down the roughest road I know” (7), or the line “so you blow, you old blue northern, blow my love to me” (11 and 17), which can only mean that she intends on being with him.
Ian Tyson, who is he? Ian Tyson is a Canadian folk singer/songwriter, though he wasn’t one in the beginning. He was in the rodeo at first and it wasn’t until his injuries from the rodeo that he started to learn the guitar. He was in the band “great speckled bird” as well as the duo “Ian and Sylvia”. Ian connects to the song “someday soon” because he had composed the song and sang it alongside his wife Sylvia, whom he met in 1961. Sylvia Tyson, as known as Sylvia Fricker, was Ian’s wife. She is contemporary folk singer/songwriter. Along

with the duo “Ian and Sylvia”, Sylvia too was in the band “great speckled bird”.
Though the song someday soon was composed by Ian Tyson, he was not the only artist that recorded the song. Some of the artists that recorded the song someday soon are Judy Collins, Chris LeDoux, Moe Bandy, and Suzy Bogguss. Judy Collins had released her version of the song in early 1969 in her album “who knows where the time goes”. Chris Ledoux recorded his version and released it in 1973 for his album “rodeo songs ‘old and new’”. Moe Bandy released her version in 1982 for her album “rodeo Romeo”. Her version had reached number 21 and 36 in the U.S. and Canada. Lastly there was Suzy Bogguss. She had released her version of the song on September 4, 1991 for her album “aces”.
Throughout the song, the line “he loves his damned old rodeo as much as he loves me” (13 and 19) is repeated twice.

The rodeo life is a competitive sport that has many events. These events consist of mutton busting, goat roping, ribbon roping, pole bending, steer wrestling, bullfighters, breakaway (tie-down) roping, barrel men, calf roping, barrel racing, team roping, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, and bareback bronc riding. Rodeo is something that can be enjoyed by both the fans and athletes. It was because of these many sports that drew people in and as stated in the song is the reason to why “he loves his damned old rodeo as much as he loves me” (13 and

19).
