Some Of The Effects That Peer-Pressure Have On Teens
Teens are effected in so many ways by peer pressure is social pressure by member of ones peer group to take a certain action, adopt certain values, or other wise conform in order to be accepted. Peer pressure effect different teens in different ways. Teen are often being pressured into using drugs, having sex, drinking and bullying, the list goes on. When the peer pressure becomes overwhelming teens suffer great effects such social anxiety, depression some even result to suicide.
Peer pressure is probably one of the biggest issuses in high school, as a teen its likely you’ve experienced the effect of peer influence in a number of different areas sometimes teens may have to dress a certain way and act a certain way or they will not be accepted. Peer influence is not necessarily a bad thing we are all influenced by our peers both negatively and positively at any age. Teens are sometimes pressured into doing things they don’t want to do may be that they have to bully someone or fight it could be any little thing and sometimes it take a big toll on that person who is being pressured to do these things to fit in. peer pressure can effect some people for the rest of their lives in many different ways.
Social anxiety is a discomfort or a fear when a person in social interactions that involves a concern about being judged or evaluated by others. This affects about seven to thirteen percent of the population. People with social anxiety disorder tend to feel nervous or will feel concern about embarrassing or humiliating themselves. Medication can relieve some of the symptom’s of anxiety, but it also comes with side effects and safety concerns including the risk of addiction

It could also be related to the tendency of students who are exposed to suicide to consider suicide themselves cide. People often use the phrase “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” (Random House, New York, 1996). Some say this phrase is not true. It’s been suggested that words not only destroy people mentally, but destroys lives and sometimes ends them.

Peer pressure can lead to many different things as I have already covered but the last and finally step is to stand up and ask for help if not the parent or a friend should try their best to help the person get through it we can all over come depression and social anxiety and threats about commenting suicide we all need that pat on the back to help us alone.
