When’s the last time you have seen a clean spotless road stay that way for more than a day? I can’t remember ever seeing a miracle like that happen in my lifetime. This is one of the many reasons why although there are many problems threatening our existence on the great blue marble the one that I believe to be of the greatest consequence is our way of disposing of the waste we create. The way i propose we should go about doing this is making the big corporations take responsibility for their part in the process this means recycling plants on their budget and fines for any waste that is impossible to recycle. You are probably tired of hearing the same old sob story “Save the trees” and all that jazz but it's true our environment is in danger and it wouldn’t be much of a problem if our environment wasn’t the entire planet. The garbage we throw out in our local landfill rarely stays there it gets shipped to different ones around the world and scavenging animals often move it around for us. according to Verde Mom by 1992 14 billion tons of trash were being dumped in the ocean globally every year and thanks to that reckless disposal method there is now a floating island of trash twice the size of texas in our great pacific …show more content…

These microscopic bits of plastic are called nurdles and trust me they are anything but cute. They can absorb background pollutants like DDT and PCB’s until they reach toxic levels. These little devils are slowly moving up the food chain from the marine life that i mentioned in the last paragraph to the humans and animals that eat this life. Yeah, think of that next time you dig into your delicious cod filet. Before long if it hasn’t happened already these little pieces of plastic will be impossible to avoid.
