SOLAR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
The traditional air conditioner has three components: compressor, condenser and evaporator. The maximum amount of electricity is used by the compressor. The compressor consists of a low pressured gas named refrigerant (mostly CFC). This refrigerant with the help of electricity gets converted from low pressured gas to high energy hot gas. This hot gas then moves to condenser and dissipates all its heat there and converts into very cold liquid in the evaporator. This cold liquid is thrown out.

CONCENTRATING SOLAR POWER PLANT : These plants generate solar power by concentrating a large area of sunlight onto a small area by using mirrors or lenses. The concentrated sunlight produces large amount of heat. The heat is channeled through a conventional generator. This leads to the production of electricity. This electricity is used to run steam engines or turbines. The plants consist of two parts: the first part collects the solar energy and converts it into heat and the second part converts the heat to

SOLAR ENERGY AND ITS SUSTAINABLE USE IN COOLING IN INDIA
INTRODUCTION
With the steady increase in temperature and living standards of the people, there is an increase in the demand of air conditioners.
The traditional air conditioners use high amount of electricity and hence high amount of fossil fuels. On the other hand solar powered air conditioners use solar energy. Also solar powered ac’s have less negative environmental effects as compared to the traditional ac’s. They do not use CFC (chloroflorocarbons) as a refrigerant instead they use lithium bromide and ammonia which are water soluble. CFC’s have many negative impacts on environment. Solar conditioners do not make any noise. Most importantly they decrease the electricity requirements. As compared to traditional ac’s they are cheaper. They do not produce any green house gases.
SOLAR AIR CONDITIONERS
PRINCIPLE
A solar powered air conditioner works on four different principles:
1. Solar thermal cooling ac’s
2. Photovoltaic conversions
Since the evaporator coil is responsible for making the air in the system cool, it’s an incredibly important part that must always be in working condition. It’s job is to turn the coolant in the unit to a gas form, which then cools down the coil. When warm air passes over this coil, it becomes chilled before passing through all the vents in your home.
In this paper over natural refrigerant I will be covering the pros and cons of natural refrigerant in light commercial and residential applications. There are many natural substances in this world that can be used to help or decrease the efficiency of a heating ventilation air conditioning system. Some of these substances are water, air, ammonia, and hydrocarbons. All these substances are natural that come from the earth we live on. Over the course of this paper I will be covering the pros and cons of swamp coolers, geo thermal heating and cooling units and how these natural substances can help and or decrease how your heating and cooling unit performs.
Solar energy is energy taken from the light that reaches earth's surface from the sun. There are four different kinds of solar energy, which are active solar systems, passive solar systems, photovoltaic cells and concentrating power systems. An active solar systems is a system that captures solar energy by mechanical means. Common active solar systems are often in buildings or homes. Some examples are roof collectors and water heating. Low Intensity and high variability have limited the use of active solar energy in Canada. A pass...
In warmer climates such as Egypt they used techniques as evaporative cooling, “if water is placed in shallow trays during the cool tropical nights, its rapid evaporation can cause ice to form in the trays, even if the air does not fall below freezing temperatures”. Although refrigeration developed in the 18th century it wasn’t until the mid-19th century when the first refrigerator built using vapor technology was build by American John Gorrie in 1844. A few years later commercial refrigeration was introduced as well as vapor compression technology which was the beginning of our modern refrigeration. Later that century ammonia was popularized as the evaporation chemical in refrigeration. All the trials and tribulations of refrigeration where all stepping stones to the 20th century and the introduction of modern refrigeration as we know it
In thermodynamics Refrigeration is the major application area, in which the heat is transferred from a lower temperature region to a higher temperature region. The devices which produce refrigeration are known as Refrigerators and the cycle on which it operates are called refrigeration cycles. Vapour compression refrigeration cycle is the most regularly used refrigeration cycle in which the refrigerant is alternately vaporized and condensed and in the vapor phase it is compressed. Gas refrigeration cycle is the well-known refrigeration cycle in which cycle refrigerant remains in the gaseous phase throughout the cycle. Cascade refrigeration are the other refrigeration cycles discussed in this chapter; absorption refrigeration is the one more refrigeration cycle which is used where the refrigerant is dissolved in liquid before it is compressed. One more refrigeration in which refrigeration is produced by passing the electric current through two dissimilar materials is called as the thermoelectric refrigeration.
One of the most important systems in a building is the HVAC system. A key component of the HVAC system is the air handling unit. The air handling unit forces t...
The scientific principle behind how a refrigerator actually works is quite basic. The refrigerator uses the evaporation of a liquid to absorb heat. This liquid is often known as the refrigerant, and when used in the refrigerator, evaporates at a fairly low temperature. This causes the cold temperatures within.
They have an incentive to make durable and efficient units instead of air conditioners that wear out quickly so they can sell new ones. Carrier is also coordinating with other businesses that provide building solutions to make air conditioning more efficient. As expressed by the president of Carrier Asia, "Carrier is dedicated to providing energy efficient and sustainable building solutions globally".
The sun has been a major aspect of life since the beginning of time. People used many other forms of energy before electricity was discovered. There has been a debate over energy resources for years. Many people are worried about what current energy resources may be doing to the environment. Oil spills and nuclear power plant mishaps have only been a few accidents that have had a big impact on the environment and the people who inhabit it. There are plenty of energy sources that do not harm the environment and are still able to get the job done. Solar energy is one energy alternative that will insure the betterment of the country and, at the same time, protect the natural environment.
The factors for exponential growth for air-conditioning are the HVAC Market, energy, environment, communication, societal, political, preparing for the future, looking ahead, and the conclusion. Buildings of the U.S. use approximately 35% of the nation’s precise total of energy consumption. The worth of shipments by U.S. HVAC manufacturers was over $28 billion of 1996. Since there are 52,000 CHC chillers needed to be replaced among the U.S., there’s a large opportunity for new chillers, new technology for the HVAC industry. The ozone depletion is an international issue in which is currently being resolved. The 3rd world countries are still allowed to manufacture CFC’s. Illegal imports of CFC’S to the U.S. is a consistent concern. Many illegal imports are virgin CFC’s. Those whom have a political overtones are specifically the ones whom create a protectionism of local commerce, having a negative impact on those inside and out of the country.
Solar thermal energy is dead! A solar thermal heating system can cost upwards of $7,000 to install and it most likely won't even save you too much money. This is why many people debate over whether they should use a solar thermal water heating system, because they think they are saving money, or an inexpensive traditional water heating system. A traditional heating system is a system that is powered off of electricity, gas, oil or some other fuel. A solar thermal heating system uses the energy from the sun, hence “solar”, and it turns that energy into hot water to either heat a home or to provide domestic hot water. The energy from the sun is captured by energy collectors, also known as solar panels. The water is heated inside the panels and then distributed throughout the home for use or stored in a tank for later use. The ideas behind this sound great, but in reality that is not the case.Solar thermal energy is not the best choice for home heating a home or hot water heating.
... and monthly water filling. Solar energy is the cleanest and purest form of energy, allowing for cleaner air overall in our environment. There is great hope for a lot more solar panels to be installed worldwide. Solar is a viable alternative energy with solar panels becoming more affordable and more efficiently designed.
There are many benefits of using solar water heaters. Sunlight is free and environmentally friendly and this planet has so much to use(“Getting better acquainted”). The sun’s energy is renewable, suns energy is all over the world (“Getting better acquainted”). Solar energy has many uses, and it can be stored and used. “Solar energy can be used in many ways to provide heat, lighting, mechanical power, and electricity” (“Getting Better Acquainted”). New steps are being made in solar technology to save resources. America will save so much money and many barrels of oil by switching to solar power, “Skyrocketing fuel prices and tax credit of nearly 30% established in the energy policy act of 2005”(“Tapping into the sun”). The solar water system won’t cost much only “$3000 to $6000” (“Tapping into the sun”) so it will be affordable. “The technology can cut the average family’s costs to heat water by 20 to 40 percent (as much as 90% in some southwestern regions)”(“Tapping into the sun”).
Finally, the liquid moves to the evaporator, where heat from the inside air is absorbed and changes it from a liquid to a gas. After that, it goes again to the compressor, where the entire cycle is repeated.
First of all, solar energy is the energy produced when the sun heats the solar panel. Thus, when the sun heats the panels, it produces electricity. Solar power produces energy during the day and can store energy for the night. Solar power does not pollute the environment. However, it has high maintenance cost, and it takes a lot of land space.
