What is sociology
According to Giddens (1986) sociology is can be defined as the scientific study of human society, including patterns of social interaction, social relationships and culture.
Sociology subject matter is diverse, ranging from crime to religion from the family to the state, from the divisions of race and social class to the shared beliefs of a common culture, and from social stability to radical change in whole societies.
Unifying the study of this diverse subject of study is sociology purpose of understanding how human action and consciousness both shape and are shape by surrounding culture and social structure.

The study of sociology has leads to a greater understanding of how individual and groups interact at the local, national and worldwide level. The study of sociology has provided valuable understanding how human behaviour is shaped and influenced by the societal forces of group interaction. Sociologists study people as they form groups with one another.
Also sociology places special emphasis on studying societies, both as individual entities and as element of a global perspective.

A sociological theory is statements of why and how particular facts about the social world related.
