Social workers are service professionals that benefit communities by providing a voice for those who need one, and helping relieve suffering. In our world today, ignorance thrives and discrimination is still an issue many people face. Social workers help represent the oppressed and help those facing discrimination learn to stand up. There are also so many problems people experience throughout their lives with family, friends, and even just themselves. Social workers serve to help relieve other’s suffering and find solutions to their problems, whatever they may be. Social workers are a wide variety of people who help others when they need it most.They benefit communities and help make the world a better place.

Angelina Jolie is an amazing

person who not only is a great actress, but also a charitable philanthropist since she provides educational opportunities for those less fortunate and donates large amounts of money to charities and organizations. In March of 2010, Jolie opened up an all-girl school in Afghanistan due to the fact that the girls there were not getting an adequate education. She also co-chairs a non-profit organization known as the Educational Partnership for Children in Conflict that provides education to children either in or escaping violence. Jolie truly believes that education is a right that shouldn’t be denied to anyone and will help to spread education to people all over the world. In 2009, Angelina Jolie donated a total of 4.9 million to charities for humanitarian services, global development, health, and education. Jolie also donated the money needed to start The National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children that helps children leaving their homes, either by their own choice or not. In 2008, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation donated 2 million dollars to go to treat diseases in countries where healthcare isn’t as good. Jolie donates to causes she believes in to help make the world a better place. She gives money to those who need it and is a true benefactor.

Harriet Tubman, the Moses of her people, was an African-American abolitionist that inspired others by freeing slaves and serving as a spy in the Civil War. Tubman was an essential part of the Underground Railroad, saving over 300 slaves in her lifetime. She made around 20 trips to the South to free slaves, never once losing a slave on the road. This made her one of the most successful “conductors” of the Underground Railroad. During the Civil War, she served a spy for the Union, infiltrating Confederate lines and providing vital information to the Union efficiently because of her familiarity with the land from Pennsylvania to South Carolina. She easily slipped in and out of enemy lines, collecting plans and identifying potential threats. She helped the Union effort and is still remembered for her bravery and courage.
