Kirstyn Eubanks ENG 2105-02W January 22, 2015 Technical Writing in Social Work As a social work major, all sorts of technical writing are commonly used. Technical writing is more of a formal style of writing including facts and varieties of information. Because my career will be in a professional environment, technical materials like manuals and articles will be used. Social workers have to keep conditions professional at all times. Roles of social workers include support clients to resolve crises, collaborate with other professionals to provide access to services like financial assistance, legal aid, housing, job placement, or education; and to counsel clients and patients in individual and group sessions to help them overcome dependencies to recover and adjust to life. Technical writing comes in tact when it comes to oral responses because if a social worker says the wrong thing, it could jeopardize their career. Social workers can say some creative styles to connect with clients more but mostly in this particular field, technical style is used. While addressing clients, it is very important that social workers act professional when it comes to their appearance. Social workers must dress, present, and show off their professional skills clearly so that their clients will take them seriously.
