In order to take care of others, it is imperative that I practice self care, and put my emotional, mental, and physical needs on the priority list as well. During my graduate social work education, I expect to learn further how to work with diverse individuals within the agencies of which I am employed. Also, I anticipate acquiring the experience and obtain the skills needed to better serve current and future clients. My desire is to help individuals understand, and address their issues in a more positive manner. Once completing my MSW, I would like to provide services to survivors of sexual abuse that come from troubled homes as I did. Being that I am a sexual abuse survivor, I have a particular affinity towards other sexual abuse survivors because I can relate to their challenging situations and life long process of healing. I believe that this will help me connect with them accurately and more effectively. Aside from working with survivors of sexual abuse I have an interest in military social work, gerontology, public welfare, corrections and justice, community development, and international social work.( apparently I cant narrow these down LOL
