Social media has a huge impact on the contemporary art world. Now a day we rely on social media so heavily to help promote and market our material. Every big star, musician, or artist has his or her own Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube account. You name it, if it a way to market themselves they use it. However, they are not the only ones even small, not well known artists use all these sites to try to gain fans of their work. I have at least two musicians follow me on twitter everyday looking for you to read their bio, listen to their music and follow them back. The Internet has truly evolved over the years, and with that social media, and the way we use it. In 1996 people where not very supportive of advertising over the Internet, and now it is one of the main forms of advertising. Internet usage in 1996 was comprised of approximately 27 million.
